Chapter 16 - (*Title would just be a spoiler.)

I was sitting in my library writing down the records when I got a strange signal. It was from the tree and it was telling me something. After it's vessel turned into a vase I could kinda communicate with it. I exited the library and started inspecting the tree. And soon I found why it was communicating with me. The creatures that grew from it started to leave their cocoons.

I waited for twenty minutes and finally the first member of this tree race was born. The cocoon was hanging on a tree, so to protect them I caught the baby before it landed on the floor. I took a close look at the creature which looked like the human baby from my past life. It had almost no fur on his body and had a soft skin.

In this world there are furless apes but they're not like the people from Earth. They look more like H. Erectus. H. erectus was a human of medium stature that walked upright from my old world. Their braincase was low, the forehead was receded, and the nose, jaws, and palate were wide. Their brain was smaller and the teeth larger than in modern humans. H. erectus are the first human species to control fire, some 1,000,500 years ago before the whole Earth was destroyed.

This baby I was holding on the other hand was almost the same as the human baby, except for the long ears it has. You guessed it correctly it is a baby elf.

It was small but I could feel a great amounts of mana coming from the baby. I touched the baby so I could feel his power level. Inside his body he had a large ball shaped vessel. It was shocking as only the greatest fighters in Ape kingdom have that amount of Mana and the vessel of that size. After few years this creature could even have a gigantic ball sized vessel which makes this child as strong as the late Ape King. I looked at hundreds of thousands of cocoons that hanged on a tree. Everyone of them was as strong as Ape King which is terrifying.

When I looked at all the cocoons some of them started to crack. Many elf's were leaving the incubator. It took me a month of hard work to help each elf down and building houses for them in a world tree. The houses were made of the greatest materials so that it would be hard to destroy them. Even then I wasn't optimistic about their resistance as this worlds most terrifying thing is not dragons or Apes but the weather.

As the Earth evolved when the mana was introduced everything got stronger. But the thing that got the strongest boost was the weather. Now even the weakest hurricane in this world has the same speed(power) as the Category 5 major hurricane before the start of the apocalypse. That's why even after hundred years no creature dared to leave the cave as they would die if they left it. Even dragon is scared of the weather. They are protected by the cave because they are hardened by the mana too. But still there are instances of those caves being destroyed. The only thing that survives the weather phenomenons is the trees. They all have great amounts of mana in them so they are strongest materials in this world.

I used trees to build my library that's why it could survive tornados and other weather phenomenons. Of course after I cut down trees I planted a new ones. Apes and Dragon know of this fact too but they would never destroy the trees as that would lead to terrifying consequences. Because few decades ago one Ape proposed to cut down the trees to build a house outside the cave. At first it was successful but when the area that they wanted to build their home was empty that place had no mana left. Without mana no creature could stay alive and if they cut down trees it would make the mana around that place obsolete. Only way to build a house outside is to cut down a tree quickly build a house and then plant a tree next to the house. But for that to happen they first have to know how to use mana inside their vessel. Only creatures that know how to do that is Dragon and late Ape King.

Slowly all the house for the elves were built and I started my babysitting job. The elves were calmer than I expected they wouldn't cry or be spoiled like human children. Most of them slept and ate. They did nothing extra and my job was far relaxing than that what I expected.

After few years Elves started talking and they started to take care of themselves. I again went back to my library and kept recording everything that happened. Everyday something happened in this world so I couldn't slack a day. Some elves followed me and I took them as my students.

Total of five elves followed me to the library. Other elves started to hunt or explore the world. They were strong enough to protect themselves so I let them be.
