Other Dimension's Knight

Chapter 29 - XXIX: Plans

Kotomine's body fell to the ground, he was mortally wounded, a wound going from his shoulder to his ankle. His black blood poured out of his body as his breath was weakening. He laughed with the rest of strength he had, the last thing he saw was a pommel hitting him in the head.

" You ..... " Medea couldn't say anything, while he technically took down an enemy, he disobeyed her and even ignored one of her command seals. She was on guard now, that meant that he was quite out of her control. But at the same time she resented him more for the fact that the more she was close to him, the more she felt herself changing, she was starting to feel emotions towards him that she used to feel towards her master, while they faded slowly. He was corrupting her. She couldn't even bring herself to kill him now. She obviously felt even more stupid because she decided to take him instead of Saber. She clicked her tongue and disappeared from the room.

Alexander sighed with a sad look, and wiped the black blood on his sword. The body of the priest was now just a puddle of filth, the same kind that shadow he defeated a while ago exuted.

The rain once again poured down on Fuyuki, it seemed that the heavens were once again weeping tonight.

Caster was locked in a closed room in the church. She repeatedly struck with her meager strength the wooden pillar in front of her. Obviously, she was still a servant so her blow were crushing the wood with enough force to make the head of an average man explode.

Her breathing was erratic, she gritted her teeth in annoyance and helplessness.

" That damned Orion.... " She stomped the ground repetedly just like a child would, her foot actually making cracks on the ground.

As a few minutes passed, she recollected her breath, although her anger only continued to grow. She was gradually refusing to do anything bad to Alexander, and even began to instinctivly trust him, something was saying to her that everything will be alright with him, that she only needed to rely on him, and she hated it.

These were the same things she felt when she was under the influence of Aphrodite, as she was forced to fall in love with the wretched man that was Jason. The memories of the moment she hated the most was the only thing keeping her from not becoming the Medea Alexander knew. Her rage towards the gods and Jason knew no bounds, and this feeling of anger was enough to keep the memories at bay.

She couldn't let these evil memories take over, she had so much to do in this era, in which the gods couldn't reach her anymore. When she came here, she felt as if this was a chance for her to truly start living, just like before Jason came for the Golden Fleece.

She fell in love with her master and decided to put aside her will to destroy the world that once betrayed her and simply live with him, and now Alexander came and her very core was shaken. She knew that the moment she stopped fighting against the memories, all of her goals would disappear.

Tonight, a very angry witch was plaguing New Fuyuki.

Meanwhile, the day before in the Emiya Residence, Rin, Saber and Shirou were discussing about their plan to retrieve or defeat Alexander and then take care of Caster. Archer was, just like always sitting on the rooftop checking the surroundings while Sakura was put to sleep since nobody wanted to involve her when she had already suffered that much.

" Why do you think we need to make a special plan, can't we just attack him ? We have two servants, me and you, it should be fine ? " said Shirou.

At his words both Rin and Saber widened their eyes at the sheer stupidity of his words, but then they recalled that he had no way of knowing how much of a threat was Alexander since he had no knowledge and didn't see Saber fight that much.

Rin sighed at the annoyance that was making an alliance with Emiya Shirou.

" Listen well, although I know that you are basically a third rate magus, you should really start to learn how to discern people's strength, atleast when they are that much different. Even with the four of us, we probably wouldn't be able to take down Alexander. " said Rin.

" ... Impossible, he can't be that str-"

" Yes, he is " interrupted Saber, looking quite annoyed aswell, which made Shirou feel bad since it was the first time he saw such an expression from Saber.

" Alexander is a servant that can probably single-handedly end the war by himself, simply by chasing servants down and killing them. Although I know that some heroic spirits are really supposed to be cut above the rest, Alexander seems even stronger than them. " said Rin, narrowing her eyes as she sighed.

Shirou couldn't say anything, he never really realized the importance of his servant, but now that he thought about it .... Wasn't Alexander basically the one that did everything in fights since the beginning ?

" That's why I was so pissed yesterday when you mentionned that the situation wasn't so bad because we still had Saber. You don't realize how much of a gamebreaker Alexander is. Whoever gets him is sure to win if it is only in frontal assault, and Alexander is capable enough to protect his master while fighting, or simply cutting down his enemies so fast that they don't have time to target his master. Now you add the fact that his current master is an evil witch, who happens to be a Caster, and you get a devastating combo where even other tactics won't work. " said Rin as she held her head in her hand in disappointment when she saw Shirou actually being surprised by this.

Even Saber sighed at her master's behaviour.

" Our only plan is to basically get Alexander out of Caster's control, since he is quite a righteous character, he won't betray us that easily, also it seemed like the reason why he didn't cut down Caster with his abnormal speed is because they knew each other in life. " said Rin.

While Saber nodded upon hearing the first half of Rin's sentence, everyone in the room felt how she released quickly a bit of bloodl.u.s.t at the second half. While Rin would have teased her in normal conditions, the predicament they were in left no room for such actions.

" ... But since Caster is an expert in magic, wouldn't it be hard to do so ? " asked Shirou.

" Exactly, that's why we're in quite the situation. If we had Caster by our side, maybe we could try to do that, but instead Caster is Alexander's master and I'm not arrogant enough to say that I could somehow outmaneuver her in magic and steal her command seals just like she did. " said Rin.

" So we really have no chance ... " said Shirou as he looked down and clenched his fist. Although he wouldn't surrender like this, he couldn't help but feel slightly irritated by their current situation. He also curse himself for not thinking about this thoroughly before.

" I believe that we might be able to rely on Alexander's ridiculous magical resistance if we want to play in that field. " said bringing both out of her thoughts.

" Magical resistance ? " asked Shirou.

" Yes. It's an ability that all Saber class servants possesses, although it isn't limited to this class, that basically allow them to nullify the affect of magic up to a certain rank. " explained Saber.

" But why would we .... I see ! " said Rin as she suddenly stood up.

" What Tohsaka ? " asked Shirou as he wasn't able to follow this discussion.

" Since he's that strong, we can guess that his level in magical resistance is high aswell, and since I've seen him taking that shadow's spells like it was nothing, it might indeed be true ! That means he is able to partially if not completely resist command seals ! " said Rin as she was happy that they maybe had a way to not only defeat Caster, but also recover Alexander.

" But .... Wait, what do you mean you saw him taking the Shadow's spells ? " suddenly asked Shirou. He was mentally double checking if she was there with them when they fought Sakura's grandparent but couldn't remember it was the case. Although he was shown in this conversation multiple times his lack of intelligence, he was pretty sure his memory wouldn't fail him that much.

Rin's cheeks reddened at Shirou's words as she sat down. Saber questionning gaze was too strong to bear.

" I-I was just checking if you needed help idiot ! " said Rin, fl.u.s.tered by being caught in the act.

" A-anyway, let's get serious here. " said Rin, trying to change the discussion's subject.

" Right ..... Well I thought that if we were to make Caster use a command spell, it would immobilize Alexander if he has a high enough magical resistance as he would fight back against the command seal, and we could strike Caster during this moment. " said Saber.

" That's brilliant, but it would mean we would need someone to fight against Alexander first, and clearly, neither Archer nor you can take that task, it's too dangerous. " said Rin.

The silence once again reigned in the room but suddenly Rin had a brilliant idea.

" I know ! Listen well, if we need someone that can stall Alexander for a bit then what's the best servant who should still be in this war ? " asked Rin with a smug smile on her face.
