Overcoming The Beast

Leon walked up the stage. He could hear people around him say "this trash's turn, he probably won't awaken his soul book again."

"I heard there was not even a response in any of the last ceremonies."

"I think he's crippled that's why, he doesn't have a soul book."

"I saw him meeting Eos yesterday. This trash thinks he can be friends with her, even if he awakens a four star rank primal beast, he still would be to old compared to the others."

"This should be his last chance, as it is impossible to awaken a soul book after the age of twelve. After twelve years old the soul book completely combines with the soul of the cultivator."

Paxe starts to stare daggers at them. They all have a chill go down there back, they swiftly shut up and watch what will happen.

A boy who had been listening to the conversation but hadn't said anything turned to look at Leon. "Hmm... does Leon look like he's on fire?"

"No he looks normal why."

"He looks normal to me too. What do you mean he is on fire? If he was he would be turned to ashes."

"I don't know. It just felt like I saw a world of fire when I looked at him."

"Wow, are you going crazy."

"Actually, now that I look at him again, he isn't as pale and skinny as he was before."

"You're right!"

Leon walked confidently, and smiled when he heard them, He liked listening to things like this, it reminded him of the time when he was treated like a genius. When he had to suffer for being to talented or when he would kill people like them for fun. It reminded him how he changed. But eventually would become like that again if he didn't work hard.

He then turned to look at the boy, that should be ....., he should be eight years old now. I remember hearing about him outside of the clan. Like me and Pace he goes out to get revenge, but more like Pace he gets revenge for the clan being completely massacred, he and Pace had worked separately in their vendetta.

Now that I think about it, I heard the clan had been completely massacred. I don't know when, just that it happens in the next twenty years. I remember looking into it but the clan was in rubble , further search into it the enemy clan had already been killed, and the clan was avenged."

Pace forgets this and comes back to reality. He gently touched the crystal with one hand and started putting energy into it. He also started circulating the formless aura art to hide what was to come.

The stone lit up with a bright crimson light that shone across the room. A crimson book could be seen. In Another flash of crimson light on the mirror was a dark red egg that was was floating in the center.

The clan head gave his obligatory comment.

"A Fire Bird egg, it has a four star rank potential at most. If you work hard and you are able to get some Sun Fire Crow blood you may be able to evolve it to a Fire Crow or even a Sun Crow which is the best evolution. Just work hard to make up for the few years you have lost."

In the end the clan head smiled not because the result was good but the fact that someone with potential had been lost. He could tell that Pace was talented in the fire element- if only he had awakened it earlier he would have taken it as his disciple. So he chose to smile to give this child hope for the future.

Leon ignored everything that was happening in the surrounding and was in a daze for what he had seen.

Suddenly he nodded and dashed through the crowd of people out of the hall, he ran through the clan and began sprinting out towards the desert surrounding the town. He thought as he ran.

"I awakened a Phoenix egg! I always wanted one in my past life, they are known to be the epitome fire. They would have been perfect for my high fire affinity. I never found a Phoenix egg, and the one Phoenix I had met rejected my blood soul contract."

"It acted high and mighty and told me that as a being that is close to nature it could not tolerate my existence, it even compared me to a demon. Unless I changed my ways it would never speak to me again it said."

"After that I had never seen a Phoenix again and I eventually gave up."

"But I got one so easily this life, perfect! it personifies my new life and how I will rise through the ashes."

He finds an isolated spot in the desert where he summons the book. A crimson book, with brilliant golden ancient rune like writing covered it. The book emitted a primal aura as if it was the origin of fire. It made the area around it so hot that the stones started to melt.

The book opened to the first page in a golden circle a picture of a majestic red egg, nine flaming birds patterned it. With a thousand feet flaming bird behind it. It gave the feeling of dominance as if it was the lord of all fire.

Leon then looked in his inner world. At the other book the runes on it glowed much brighter and the recovery seemed faster. Leon knew he could also summon this book. but he didn't; he knew if he tried his body would explode.

Subsequently Lepn felt a weight on his soul he hadn't felt before.

"This should be because of the soul book from my past life, I imagine if I don't get strong enough before it completely recovers my soul will shatter because of the pressure it emits."

"Umm, so other than the egg that is my primal beast of this life I can feel a connection with two other beast...so the two eggs did become my primal beast as well."

My soul is already much stronger than it was in my past life. My talent is also much higher.

He focused again on the Phoenix egg, the primal beast of this life, his new partner. I can't tell what type of Phoenix. I know it's potential is at least beyond ten stars. Which is what I was aiming for.

Now that I think about it I have so many eggs that I need to hatch. To hatch eggs you need fill them up with energy. Eggs usually form when creatures are born or when they evolve.

For me right now I should forget about the first two eggs I will start thinking about them hatching when I am at least at Summoning Master. As for the Phoenix I would need a fire source which I have, but the active volcano is of only high- low grade fire source.

But I can make it work, it will take time but I don't know of any other fire source that I can get within five years.

I can't waste time I need to get a soul beast I can actually start cultivating with. I know where one soul beast is it should have be about to hatch by the end of this week.

Leon slowly returned to clan where he saw Pace waiting outside his house. "Little brother, you ran directly into the forest, you didn't even say anything to me." Leon wanted to say something but Pace intervenes "but I understand you were too excited, so you dashed outside to check out your summoning abilities. With this now I can leave with peace in mind. I'll breakthrough to Summoning Teacher by the end of the weak and leave directly so I wanted to say goodbye."

Leon frowns "brother how can you say things like this, we will surely meet again and I think pretty soon, so there is no need for this. You should go have your adventure I will catch up to you, don't hold yourself back for me."

Pace laughs "good! I hope to see you soon after this" he then walks away.

I need to make preparations to start hatching the Phoenix egg and get my first contract beast. Leon goes to clan store, the Lucky Sky shop. Eos is not there as she usually is- when she had awakened her soul beast she was taken in by the clan head as his disciple and moved to the inner part of the clan. Without a pause he asks for a bow and twenty water arrows form the new clerk which cost about three hundred gold coins.

Taking everything Leon went home. He slept in his bed which he hadn't done for a while.
