Overcoming The Beast

Leon woke up the next day. He ate breakfast and then left for the competition.

He didn't have much to prepare. However Leon still took his time to arrive. There was no point in being early or on time. He would rather not wait out the time.

Finally arriving the competition had started. Everyone had seats they were given. The were the ranks they had gotten in the entrance competition. Now moving up from the last contestant. Everyone was given the choice to fight a contestant above them in rank. Leon as number one didn't have anyone to fight so laid down and relaxed.

The fights progressed. Seats changed owner ship. The whole list had been redistributed. Finally Julius got a turn. He didn't have to think who to challenge.

"Leon come down, I challenge you."

Leon woke up and walked to the stage.

The elder started the fight. Leon summoned the Soul book in a silent chant. It was the first time he did it in public. But it was about time now.

People started to gasp.

"Leon is so fast at summoning the Soul book. He could probably end most fights before the other could summon beast."

"This is why I keep my beast summoned at all times."

Leon summoned the Cold Mist Ghost Dragon in Its snake form.

Leon didn't seem in a hurry. He watched Julius summon his Pegasus and a large Arctic Ice Bear.

Julius seeing Leon summon one beast shouted "Leon summon your Frost tiger or you'll lose before you know it."

Leon laughed and answered "I'll be fine let's start."

The audience started talking.

"A one vs two. That looks like a frost snake. They aren't particularly strong. Will Leon be fine."

"No he will definitely summon another beast."

So on people in the audience made assumptions and tried to predict the battle.

Leon let Julius take the first move. Julius had the Pegasus form Ice swords to attack like past time. He also had the Arctic Ice beast shoot Frost Rays at The Snake.

The snake easily dodged. It also started chanting. Before Julius could tell his beast to dodge a magic circle formed underneath both of them. Then NetherWorld ice chains grew out and tied the beast. The Pegasus in the air was pulled to the floor while the Arctic Ice Bear was just bound to the floor.

The audience were gasping at the quick turn of events.

"That is ice chain. But I've never seen it so strong before."

"You're right, the Pegasus should have been able to break through it. Why can't it."

The Pegasus on the stage neighed and flapped its wings. However it could barely move. The Arctic Ice Bear was completely glued to the floor and could only growl.

Julius started talking through soul vibrations with the beast. The Pegasus started using magic. A magic circle appeared in front of its mouth. It was a combination of golden light and Ice.

"The Pegasus has finally started using its light element. But it's to late."

"The Frost Pegasus had a light element!" Someone shouted.

"The spell is also not normal ice magic or Light magic, Its Fairy magic." An elder in the crowd said.

The 'Frost snake' looked at the magic circle condescendingly. The strongest spells of Fairy magic were often compared to Dragon Magic. However this spell was far from reaching that level. Another ice chain grew out from underneath the Pegasus. It went wrapped the Pegasus mouth shut. The magic circle shattered.

The Pegasus glared. It tried hard to opened its mouth again but failed.

"I won again. Better luck next time." Leon said as he walked is a the stage. The 'snake' hoped onto Leon's head and got into its usual position.

Julius fell to floor with his will crushed. After a few seconds of realisation he ran to his beast and started to help them.

As Leon left he was given a golden token by the elder watching the match.

"Well done, you have protected your position as number one in the new disciples. Use this token at the Clan shop for your prize."

He then started walking to Julius to help that mess and give him his prize.

"The prize should be five percent from the pool of resources." Leon nodded and went to get them all cashed in one go.

The Clan shop was near. After he gave the token he was given the resources.

Five percent although didn't sound like much was a lot. From a pool of resources meant for hundreds of people five percent of it was really high.

Leon got a bag of Ice spirit pills, it held at least a hundred. With it he got five pills called the Ice master pill. The Ice spirit pills were basic pills that just provided energy undeveloped in cultivation. The Ice master pill allowed a cultivator to enter a state of enhanced affinity to increase cultivation for a while.

As he opened the door he saw Nova IceFaerie standing about to open it from the other side.

Leon and Nova just stared at each other for a while. Leon decide to start the conversation.

"Hello, we never met formally but I think you should remember me. I'm Leon, a new disciple."

Nova didn't look as shy. She replied "I'm Nova IceFaerie. I do remember you from the Airship. So it is nice meeting you, but I can't stay any longer. Good bye." She then walked pass Leon into the store.

"She doesn't seem to like me? Well I should get to know her and see how she formed that Dragon magic in my past life."

Leon turned back and held her hand "I don't know why but it seems like you don't like me. This should be our first time talking, so could you tell me why?"

Nova was like ice. She pulled her hand and said "It is non of your business what my opinion is of you. Don't get close to me." She said the last part with a threatening to attack type of tone.

Leon also started walking away "Weird, clearly she doesn't like me. I wonder why."

As he was walking the Frost Snake on his head woke up. It talked to Leon through soul vibrations.

Soul Vibrations could not be compared to normally speaking as you could only send intentions through it. However the snake had reached a level where it had basically become telepathy.

Although Blood also gave the beast and summoner telepathy, it was more of a passive process. Where the beast and summoner could understand each other. They could feel what the other was feeling and knew they were connected.

The Frost snake said "Leon there seems to be large amount of Ice energy in the Sect. I would like to go to them to heal."

"You should be talking about the Domes. I can only enter the Cold Dome." Leon then pointed at the large Dome like building in the distance. The Dome like shape characteristic to others was incomplete as it was built into a mountaineering it hard to tell where it ended.

"That is the one with the second highest energy. It will do fine. But it has an expanded space inside we will have to travel far in to reach the energy."

Leon nodded and headed towards the Dome. He was already planning on going to it with the Frost snake. Unlike the Chimera it specialised in ice. He had also planned on having the Chimera join him but because of last time he decided not to do that.
