Overcoming The Beast

Chapter 9 - The Sunset Auction (1)

After leaving Eos, Leon went straight to the auction house. In an hour the monthly auction was about to begin.

The auction was crowded with people trying to enter. All pushing and shouting. Leon swam through the crowd gracefully, swiftly moving in while donning the black nodded cape and white mask he showed his VIP pass and entered without issue.

The main reception area was also crowded, people talking and waiting for the auction to begin. Leon went towards the auction hall but was stopped.

"Sorry sir, we cannot allow anyone to enter until thirty minutes before the auction can please kindly wait for a few more minutes."

Leon walked by ignoring the one speaking to him. He took out his VIP pass and went straight in. The man who was trying to stop him was a little angered but quickly hid it.

"Let me escort you to your room, Sir." He ran in behind.

Leon was then brought up a flight of stairs and to a balcony seating to the auction stage. It was on the right side of the hall more then a third way up the tall auction wall. The balcony had five seats however only for Leon to bring in guests.

Leon sat on the front most chair crossed his legs and tapped the chairs armrest lightly. A man walked up and said "What can I do for you sir?"

Leon spoke in a deeper voice and said "I want a glass of water and a list of the items that will be shown today."

"Very Well, I shall be back in a moment." The man left.

Leon thought as he waited "He noticed that I was purposefully speaking in a deeper voice but didn't say anything. Looks like I was right to assume they are used to having weird personalities come."

The man was indeed surprised. But it wasn't enough to warrant an expression. Hearing Leons voice he could tell it was some kid. But from Leons aura he could tell it was some old monster with an imaginable cultivation. He knew the VIPs usually were all eccentric. He had even heard some act younger then they actually are not wanting to offend anyone he just did he was told.

Leon didn't know what was to come in the auction. He expected nothing of real interest would be found. The fact was the town was small and in the middle of a desert. Even if the desert was littered with jewels no one was willing to collect in a minefield. Anything else would be from some traveler of high cultivation. Which was what he placed his bets on, hoping for something good.

As Leon sat and gazed at the stage in thought he felt some one watching him. He didn't turn to look but acted natural.

With a crash he dropped his glass on the floor. The man from earlier walked in and said "Sir I shall clean this, will you need a towel."

"No need."

Leon then looked around. He saw that other the balcony he was on there were five more. Three on the other side and two in front of him.

In the balcony exactly on the opposite side of Leon there was a young man. Bright red hair and an interested smile. He seemed to be enjoying the fact Leon had dropped his glass.

Leon sat back down took and stared at the list he had asked for.

The man in the opposite side. He is from the Flamesmith clan but I can't remember who he is... I seem to have an impression of him from both of my lives. My past life was a little afraid while my future soul had a murderous intention. Going through his younger self memories Leon was finally able to find out who it was.

That man should be Hans Flamesmith, the son of the Clan head, one of the people that betrayed the clan on the day of my inauguration as the young Emperor. He was the reason no one was able to save my parents when they were killed.

In this life it seems he has a prejudice against me. He should have been Pace's rival for the Young head position but when he lost he started to hate me with Pace. Interesting I guess he won't living long.

Earlier it was Hans who had been watching Leon and his glass of water fall it was Hans who used his soul energy to pull it towards the ground.

Seeing that there was still time till the auction began Leon asked the man waiting on him to bring him a pen and paper. He quickly wrote something and told him to deliver it to Hans.

Hans on the other side enjoying a glass of red vine as he got the paper. He opened and read it.

"Someone who has just entered summoning teacher shouldn't act so arrogant, or you'll be laying in the ditch you dug before you know it." Hans reading it smiled and laughed a little he then tore the letter. Seeing Leon watching him he scattered the pieces of paper into the air in front of him. The papers lit on fire and started to burn.

Through the fires he saw Leon start to smile and then Leon picked up his finger and drew a line on his neck.

Hans at first enjoying this suddenly felt a murderous aura go through him. He felt like had been stabbed by knife right into his heart. Seeing Leons finger move across his neck it felt like a century. He couldn't breath, or form coherent thoughts. He just felt the knife twisting. He felt death come behind him and grab his shoulder. It was only when Leons finger stopped was he freed from the paralysis. He pushed himself back knocking the chairs down and fell to the ground gasping for air. Sweating covering his brow.

"What happened...?"

A lady walked in "Sir are you alright?" She grabbed Hans shoulder to pull him up but she was pushed back "Dont touch me!" He shouted.

Hans got up himself and saw Leon laughing, he had grabbed his stomach and was knocking his hand onto the armrest but when He saw Hans looking he seemed to try to hide it but looking at his eyes Hans knew Leon was mocking him. It only made things worst. Feeling a sense of trauma Hans couldn't look Leon in the eyes for more then a second he left quickly.

The doors burst open and an old man flew in. He looked around and saw that only Leon was there. He flew up in front of Leon and asked with authority "I felt a demonic aura it was coming from this hall seeing that your the only one here I can only assume it was you."

Leon acted unimpressed. He said "Old man I can see you're already on your deathbed, you should go back and lay down and stop with the baseless accusations."

The man angered said "A brat like you should shut your vile mouth. You should be possessed, come with me I'll take you to Joseph to have you purified." The man then reached his hand out carrying Leon out of his seat.

Leon calm holding his position said "Old man, you aren't just almost dead, you're also blind." Leon then snapped his fingers he suddenly burst out with a holy aura. It seemed like he had become an incarnation of an angel. The man quickly placed Leon down.

He bowed and said "I'm sorry, I did not know you were of the holy element. Please pardon me for this insolence."

"It is fine I did feel the demonic aura it seemed to be coming from around here. But it was only there for a moment it was most likely a high level possessed beast teleporting from above us."

"Yes you should be right..."

Before the man could finish Hans walked back into the room and saw the man and Leon talking he grew happy and said "Elder Darius, I am Hans Flamesmith son of Harlan Flamesmith. That man you are speaking to is a demon. I don't know what he did but he somehow made me see an illusion where I was slowly dying. It was tremendously evil..." Hans stopped seeing Leon look at him mockingly and the Elder also looking down on him.

"Hans out of respect for the Flamesmith clan head I will take it as if you have misunderstood the situation so you should stop accusing baselessly and apologize to this young man." He turned to Leon. "Will that be fine with you young man."

"It is fine I take no offence. Even if he doesn't apologize I shall pay no need. We should end this soon, the auction has been delayed enough." Leon then turned to look at the open door where a man was standing wanting to say something.

"You are right." The old man then flew to a VIP balcony on Hans side and said "Let everyone in, it was a false alarm."

"thank you Lord Darius." The man bowed and left.

Hans hearing Darius was shocked. He didn't even get to say anything, plus he didn't have anything to say. He sat back down and grabbed his head. He looked pained on the outside but internally he was growling "That Darius as a member of the Council of fire I expected much more from him. He can't even see a demon when one is right in front of him pathetic!" Hans took a deep breath. "I'll talk to father after this he'll know what to do."

The auction hall filled with people quickly. soon the three other VIP seats were also filled. Leon saw that he knew one of them. It was Mr Tor. He had come with a middle aged man. He then made an educated guess that the one from the remaining VIPs was an elder of the Bloodling Clan while the other was a traveler.

The Auction began. The hall darkened and the curtains were pulled opened by six fiery Fairies. In The darkness they looked like wisps magical fire floating about. Three on each side pulling it open. A lady walked in her heels cl.i.c.k.i.n.g against the ground. A spot light shined on her.

"Let the Monthly auction begin!"
