OverGod Of Yggdrasil

Chapter 8 - Who Are You(1/2)

The Raven signed in despair as she had never thought the situation would develop this way.

No matter how she rocks her brain, the Fire Crow Tribe should have been celebrating their demigod becoming a god, not wallowing in despair.

True, he was just an Earthbound God, the lowest level amongst the gods. He was not an influential figure amongst the gods. Still, he was the god of their tribe, so it was a day of celebration.

For a small tribe like Fire Crow Tribe, having a god was something they never dreamt about since they knew the difficulties involve.

To become a god, one needs to reach the pinnacle of the mortal body, which is barely able to withstand the power of divinity. Reaching this stage with their bodies, a person would be called Saint.

A Saint is hugely respected by many since no matter which tribe they decide to join; they would become a core figure of that tribe.

Reaching the level of Saint, one would be able to ignite their divine flame, becoming a demigod.

A demigod can use divine power to a certain degree, not like the gods whose actions innately use godly power.

The limit of most people is the level of demigod. Not many people think about reaching the level of a god, since the difficulties of the task it ungodly!

The first requirement to become a god is to have followers, who are mostly people of tribes. Having enough people believe in oneself, one would need another step to decide what kind of god they wanted to be.

If one becomes a fire god, they will become a fire god of the area they ascended at. An example would be Fire Crow God. The Fire Crow God had chosen to become the god of the Fire Crow Tribe, making his core the Fire Crow Tribe.

This would mean that the Fire Crow God cannot leave the tribe unless he becomes a Heavenly God, which is impossible without the Fire Crow Tribe, helping him. That's was the meaning of Earthbound God.

This choosing of what god one wants to become has much meaning since even two gods of the same elements would have different powers according to their understanding of their godhood, their bound location, and the amount of faith they had.

It was because of the difficulties involved in becoming a god that she was mad! They had not even tasted the benefit of having a god before dark clouds flew overhead.

Probably not even the Ancestral God of SliverSpring Continent, SilverSpring River God would expect how the destiny of the Fire Crow Tribe change.

Not even an hour after their God, the Fire Crow God, ascend to become an Earthbound God, he was killed by the Water Buffalo God.

Even if that was the case, the continent was prominently water gods holy land, as the Ancestral God himself was a water god.

This makes it so that water gods are innately stronger than other gods while residing inside the SilverSpring River Continent.

All other gods, even if they were a stage higher, would find it difficult to kill a water god of a lower level, let alone a newly ascended fire god.

For an old and experience god like the Water Buffalo God, killing the Fire Crow God was probably more comfortable than swatting a fly, since he has an unfair advantage in the terrain.

The death of a god of a tribe has a far-reaching impact, as that would be the end of the tribes' glory as hungry blood-s.u.c.k.i.n.g vultures would be attracted to them before they could make a break for it, consuming everything they had.

Usually, when a god of a tribe dies, the divine barrier that protects the tribe from harm would be destroyed. When the barrier is gone, other tribes would have a chance to gain power, as they could absorb people of different tribes into their midst.

Thankfully or not, the Fire Crow Tribe had never had a god; thus, the impact on their tribe was low since the god didn't have a chance to become bound to the tribe before he was killed.

A divine barrier, to some degree, is equal to god. The stronger the barrier, the more influential the god. When a god chooses his bound location, a barrier would be erect to protect the place.

If he were bound to the tribe, unless one kill all the members of said tribe, the Fire Crow God would never die as he could regenerate back at his bound location, the Fire Crow Holy Shrine, with the cost being some faith.

With no fear of real death, most gods live their lives as if they had an unlimited amount of it, which is true and false. A god has an extremely long lifespan that to a mortal is endless; only a god would know that it wasn't true.

While a god had the power to revive an unlimited amount of time as long as they had enough faith, even they had a limit to their lifespan. An earthbound god could theoyicial live for a hundred thousand years, with some ancient earthbound gods living for millions of years. A heavenly god has a lifespan of billions of years, with peak heavenly gods able to live for trillions of years. As for an Ancestral God? They were undying, living for as long as they d.e.s.i.r.e.

With the feeling of death at the lowest, these gods were free to have as much fun as they wanted, which they use to create divine wars, battles that span thousands of years! In these battles, the lives of mortals are as cheap as grass, easy to replenish.

Of course, gods at the end of the day are gods, so how could they be free as to play? While it seems as if the gods were playing, it was, in fact, not true as the gods use the divine wars as ways to gain fame, spreading their name, gaining more followers.

It's because of those facts that gods are so highly respected, and this respect earns them an entire world to do as they please.

At the tribes' peak, the surrounding tribes respected the small Fire Crow Tribe, not daring to scheme against them. They knew the Fire Crow Tribe was on the rise. In the future, there might be a middle-tier tribe call Fire Crow Tribe.

In response to the growing Fire Crow Tribe, some of the smaller tribes went as far as sending gifts and tributes to obtain a connection to a soon to be a middle-tier tribe or even to become sub-tribes. However, the times had changed since the source of the tribe's intimidation had died, leaving the tribe in a dangerous situation.

Many of the tribes saw this as a chance to gain many benefits: some even thinking of how to expanded their small tribes to become middle their ones. The tribes, however, became dejected since the Water Buffalo Tribe had taken the first step.

No tribe dares to anger the only middle-tier tribe in the surroundings, especially since they had a powerful water god as their source of power, while they as small tribes had only demigods. There is no way a demigod could kill a god, and there is no way they would be willing to test the facts about it, so they silently disappear in the background, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Even if the smaller tribes couldn't get the meat, which was Fire Crow Tribe, that doesn't mean they could drink some of the soup. While what they gain might not be anything to a middle-tier tribe, it could cause dramatic changes in their tribes.

Since Water Buffalo Tribe were the ones to cause the death of the Fire Crow God, it was apparent that they intend to finish the job by devouring the entire tribe into themselves.

With the addition of the Fire Crow Tribesmen, the SliverSpring Continent might see a new addition to the amount of Heavenly God it has.

It's no secret to the tribes in the surroundings that the Water Buffalo God was at the peak of the Earthbound God level. He only needs a push, and he would become a Heavenly God.

None of the tribes want that to happen since that would mean they would be swallowed up by him, becoming his source of power or even his slaves. While the demigods might gain status in the powerful new big tribe, they would be reduced fo slaves. However, since they were weak, they didn't have any other choice but to hope for a miracle.

The Water Buffalo Tribe has given the Fire Crow Tribe a week to choose their course of action; since they were sure of what they would decide in the end. Who would want to die when they had a chance of life?

What the Water Buffalo Tribe didn't expect was that the Fire Crow Leader, Raven was thinking outside the box that was placed before her.

If they knew what she was attempting, they wouldn't hesitate to attack her before she could succeed, alas they didn't know.

If someone were in Raven's place, they would immediately choose to surrender. After all, joining a tribe with a powerful Earthbound god was the dream of many small tribes.

With a god in one's tribe, the benefits one would gain is immense! With a god, even the weakest child would be able to beat a grown man of a pagan tribe.

With a god, one would gain blessings with the head priest of the gods gaining the most and then the tribe leader.

The reason Raven has not chosen to surrender was that she knew if she allows the Fire Crow Tribe to join the Water Buffalo Tribe, the Fire Crow members will become the slaves of the Water Buffalo tribe instead of official members.

The Water Buffalo Tribe would never treat them like one of their own. They would instead make their lives a living hell, where they would wish they were dead.

No tribe would allow outsiders to stand above their original members.

If they did, how would that look to the members that were born there? Would they be as loyal as they are now? Probably not! So there is no way they would allow a conquered tribe to gain real statuses.

The only hope that had the slightest chance of succeeding would be the offspring of a Fire Crow and a Water Buffalo Tribe member. If that happens, they would still look down upon, but they would always be recognized as one of their own, gaining a divine tattoo.

A divine tattoo! The mark of the gods, the only way for mortals to be able to use a lesser version of divine spells, magic!
