Post World War II Germany In Another World

Chapter 8 - The Lady Who Speaks All

Two consecutive bright lights blinded Grimm's eyes, then two mushrooms like cloud ascended high into the skies followed by two deafening roars, banging through one's ear. Two explosions on two enemy vessels, right before their very own eyes. As such metal and ash could be seen raining down towards the ship's deck. Grimm's eyes lay wide towards the two enemy vessels that lay helpless from the distance. Parts of its hull already submerged underwater while the bow was tilted upwards.

None of the men from Grimm's merchant fleet was celebrating, instead, they were shocked through their core. Only the murmurs of the crew that made Grimm return to his senses.

"Look, sir! The other Ka'abal's vessels are turning their direction, I think they're fleeing! We're saved!" One of the crew members shouted.

"Saved? We're saved?" A glint of hope shined through Grimm's eyes.

"Thanks to that Underwater ship!" The crew members cheered. "Hoorah! Hoorah! Hoorah!"

Hearing this, Grimm rushed towards the ship's fence to have a glimpse of the mysterious underwater ship. He looked at it in awe for he has never seen anything like it. "It's- Beautiful. Quick! Anyone take a photograph of it!"

An officer with a camera suddenly rushed towards the ship's fence and took a quick picture of it. While he was taking multiple photographs, he asked Grimm. "Do you think this is a ship from the recently transported continent, sir?"

"Yes, I'm sure of it," Grimm replied

"Then, where do you think it's heading too? It's not going underwater, but it seems it's following the Ka'abal's vessels. Yeah! Look how sharp it's turning right now, and its acceleration is monstrous!"

The submarine turned sharp left, then it accelerated towards the fleeing Ka'abals vessels.

"Then follow that ship!" Ordered Grimm.

"But sir! We couldn't leave our brothers, there are still survivors from our sunk sh.i.p.s, a lot of them!"

"Damn it! Alright, rescue the survivors first and don't lose sight of that underwater ship!"

"Aye sir"

After a few minutes, a bright yellow light followed by a deafening roar could be heard. It seems that the sound came from the fleeing Ka'abals vessels. After a few whiles, another roar could be heard, and then another one, and for the fourth time, the roar sounded again.

"It-It couldn't be..." Grimm then took a telescope from his waist and look through it, then he counted.

"One.... Two.... Three...." He couldn't believe it, his eyes almost popped out from his sockets, "Four.... All of the Ka'abals vessels are ablaze!"

He then looked through his telescope again, trying to spot the mysterious ship, after he spotted it. He looked at where this ship might head to, but to his surprise, it's heading towards him.

"Sir! That ship who destroyed the Ka'abals is heading this way!" One of the lookouts shouted.

"I know, I know! Order the rest to lower the guns, let it come. I might want to call an old friend."

Famyne is once a very talented young mage despite her age was only sixteen, but that is a long time ago, a time where the Zaragoza Empire flourish, yet nine years have passed since then. The Zaragoza Empire was destroyed by the Sigmund Empire in which was suppose to be in a part of a peace treaty between both empires. How foolish of the Zaragoza Empire to lower their guards, only to open doors for the Sigmund Empire to annihilate them.

Famyne once worked as a mage translator, translating unknown languages despite never learning it's language. She once cooperated with traders, travelers, even diplomats back in her time. After the destruction of her empire, she was taken as a slave, a mage slave to be exact, which fetch a higher price in the market. She was then auctioned and sold to Grimm about seven years ago, and until this day, she had never been any use to Grimm, even laid eyes upon. Only to be kept living on one of Grimm's ironclad warsh.i.p.s working as a cleaner, on the Miramar.

After she heard that the fleet is under attack by the Ka'abals, her face grew pale. For the rest of her life living in this ship, she had never done anything meaningful, her life was a waste, and to die like this- No, there was a glimpse of hope, that mysterious underwater ship that she saw two days ago, it came back! It- it destroyed the Ka'abals vessels.

The entire battle, she personally saw it with her own eyes, how the Ka'abals almost obliterate them, and how the mysterious underwater ship came to the rescue. Not to mention how the mysterious ship chased the fleeing vessels only to destroy them one by one, she saw all of them. Maybe one day she thought, someone could also rescue her from this shithole too.

Famyne lay by the ship's fence like other officers just to see the aftermath of the battle. She could see the Ka'abal's vessels and Grimm's other ironclads sinking. She could see the survivors trying to find something to stay afloat but also burnt bodies floating. She could smell the scent of burnt flesh but also the smell of hope.

Suddenly, she heard one of the officers calling her name, it appears it came from the radio officer's room. "Famyne! Famyne! Come here!"

Hearing that her name was called, she was shocked, "Ye... Yes, Senior Officer Leudrok?"

Officer Leudrok then glanced at Famyne and smiled. "All of these years, Famyne, it seems you are not useless after all. Sir Grimm asked me to call you to go to his personal ship."

"Wha...What? Like.... Now?" She shivered.

"Yes, now! Go on, fly over there, you can still fly right?"

"I- Don't know... It's been seven years since I flew.... I don't think I can any-" Before she could finish, she saw that Officer Leudrok wore a dark face, his eyes were sharp, and his aura was very daring.

Famyne was scared to death so she focuses her mind and....

Flew

The other crew who saw this was fazed. Not to mention Famyne herself is also fazed, then, her tears started to fall from her cheeks. It's been so long since she last flew.

"Stop crying! Go now, fly! Don't forget about that slave collar on your neck!" Reminded Officer Leudrok.

Indeed Famyne wore a slave collar on her neck. The slave collar is like a blood oath with its master, if the master wished the slave to die, just a simple command from the master's will, the collar would shrink and suffocate the user. Normally, this is used if the slave tried to escape.

After she flew for about 20 meters towards Grimm's personal ship, she finally landed onto the deck.

"Ho ho ho- So, my dear Famyne, it's been a while. You have grown much prettier over the years. Ah, excuse me Famyne, Alright! Stop the engines, lower the anchor!"

"Yes, Sir Grimm, It's been a while." Famyne felt bittersweet towards the man in front of her. She was held in this shithole for a very long time, but then again, her fate could be much worse if someone else bought her in the auction seven years ago.

"Why so bitter my darling? You know, all these years I bought you, it's for the purpose of trading with a new teleported continent, you could be my personal translator." Grimm said while scratching his beard.

"I thought it's six years ago, why would you summon me seven years later?"

Hearing this Grimm laughed, "Because right now, a new continent just emerged, and the island that teleported seven years ago? Forget it, it's useless to trade there."

"Wh... What? Should it-"

"Yes I know what you meant, to be honest, I don't know too, but that is the reality," Grimm grinned.

"Oh yes, that mysterious underwater ship that just saved us? They might be from the new teleported continent, that's why I called you." Grimm explained.

"..."

"Ah, it appears our guest has arrived."

As the submarine got closer and closer, finally it 'docked' right next to Grimm's personal ship.

From up close, the ship looked like a huge metal tube with a huge bulge(sail) on top of it. For a while, no one came out from it but after a while, the metal hatch opened. A man with a steel helmet while wearing a dark blue uniform stepped out and stood, he glanced the surroundings. It seems this man brought a rifle with him.

"Prepare the wooden planks!" Grimm ordered, in which his men brought a wide wooden plank and connected it to the mysterious ship's bulge(sail) to Grimm's ship's deck.

"Are you ready?" Whispered Grimm to Famyne.

"In a moment." Famyne closed her eyes and focused her mind.

Suddenly she heard the man with the rifle shouted something towards inside the hatch.

"I think they aren't bad, sir." After the man said that, another man with a brown uniform and another one with a blue uniform stepped out of the hatch. Both of them glanced their surroundings before locking their eyes onto Grimm and Famyne, then they crossed the plank. It seems both of them is the leader, while the man with the rifle stayed on guard.

As the blue-uniformed man spoke to the brown-uniformed man, "This isn't a good idea."

The brown uniform man replied, "Well, it's too late to turn back now."

Famyne had heard their conversation, she took the initiative to talk, "Gentleman, it's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you, what is this good idea you said of?" Famyne giggled.

In an instant, both men stepped back in shock.

"G- Gorgeous lady, you speak German?"The brown-uniformed man asked in a cold sweat.

"You flatter me, yes indeed, why does this shock you to that extent?" Famyne giggles again, she never saw people this shock in her entire short-lived career as a translator.

"H- How?"

"By magic of course!"
