"Oi, should we do it?"

Three figures were sneaking around among the crowd, they swayed left and right, crouching then rushing. Just then, one of them suddenly jumped high and threw a pair of Kunai to Kabuto. As if he knew things beforehand, Kabuto retreated with a backward jump. Unfortunately for him, another figure rushed toward him and swung his fist toward his temple. Kabuto adeptly evaded it with a bit backward tilt of his head without any of his opponents' attack able to graze him, or so he thought.

*Crack*

His eye-glasses were shattered.

*Pu!*

His mind spun as his lunch rose to his throat and he vomited.

"Ah! He threw up!" "Kabuto-san!"

Naruto and Sakura shouted worriedly as they rushed to help him, along with other participants, they were astonished by the sudden assault from the genins of the hidden sound village.

'Guys, did you see that?' Ino asked her team-mates, she wasn't sure herself. 'He converted his chakras into some kind of soundwaves...'

'We felt it...'

'Crystal clear...'

In spite of their confident answers, both Chouji and Shikamaru was solemn, except that Chouji was slightly excited about the new things he found.

'Are you confident against him, Chouji?' Shikamaru curiously asked with his still bored tone.

'It's not certain before this, but if that's the only thing he got then it's a child play~' Chouji grinned, he tore a jerky beef with a bite.

"Pathetic... Hear this, I'm Dosu from the hidden sound village." The one with bandages covering most of his face, leaving only his left eye uncovered said. "Write this on your card, the three from the hidden sound village are definite future Chunins!"

"HOW DARE YO-" Naruto was infuriated, as he wanted to rush and pummel Dosu on the ground, a booming sound reverberated inside the room.

"QUIET DOWN YOU WORTHLESS BASTARD!!!"

Almost all of the participants covered their ears with their hands, their ears were slightly rung after that loud shout.

With a big pouf of smokes, on the northern side of the room suddenly appears quite a few persons in various attires with only a white cloak and Konoha headbands as the only things they had in common.

"Thanks for waiting, I am Morino Ibiki, the head examiner of this first phase of the test chunin exam."

The examiner, Ibiki, proceeded to warn the genins from the hidden sound village then explained the rule of the exam. The first test was a paper test and the explanation went smoothly if you didn't include Naruto's rowdy antics.

Shikamaru immediately understood the core of the test and covertly used his shadow clutch technique to connect his shadow with his team-mates. Ino who understood Shikamaru's intentions immediately used her mind sharing technique to initiate their own 'Chatt group'.

Shikamaru then explained the nature of this test to Chouji and Ino. But, in case he was wrong, Shikamaru told them to fill the paper test with some answers. And just like that, the supposed to be hard questions even for a Chunin were answered by Shikamaru in less than half a dozen minutes flawlessly.

'I'm still wondering why are you didn't study with this cheat brain of yours, Shikamaru...' Chouji wondered. Shikamaru used to be hating the academy book with a passion, that until a certain event took place and changed his mindset entirely. Since then, he read anything that able to give him an edge and learn everything he was able to learn, even including doing the number one thing he hates the most, forgoing sleep.

'Because it's bothersome...' Shikamaru replied briefly while Ino just giggled silently on her desk.

Shikamaru decided to close his eyes and trained his chakra control for a while with some crystal sands inside his pocket. Ino too tried to mold her chakra and perform the chakra scalpel subtly.

Meanwhile, Chouji also closed his eyes and tried to perform his calorie control technique and multi-size technique. He was able to easily perform both techniques almost without a flaw, he managed to control his change in every way he wanted to. His mind wandered, by theories, his multi-size technique use a Yang nature chakra for it to perform. But, he categorized it as the 'internal technique', and what if he uses the Yang nature chakra to perform the 'external technique' like the other ordinary Jutsu? AND, what if he uses his fire and earth nature transformation with an internal technique?

All this while, he learns from the rail provided by others and yet to explore this knowledge. One of his top reason was that it's not without any risk, and potentially very dangerous to try and he's unwilling to risk it. But, in many instances, that line of thought keep surfaced in his mind, that 'what if...'

*Pak*

Chouji snapped out of his thought when a Kunai were thrown to the desk two rows in front of him.

"What was that for?!" The man behind that desk nervously asked.

"You messed up five times, get out. You fail." One of the examiners said calmly while crossed out the said participant name in the list without sparing him another glance. "The two others on his team get out of here, right now."

"Damn it..." His two other cursed full of resentment as they stepped out of the room.

It was the first ten minutes of the exam, and I saw three participants closed their eyes. Were they sleeping? Heh, it seems that they figured the nature of this test already. Let's see who they were...

Nara Shikamaru

Akimichi Chouji

Yamanaka Ino

Hoho~ The daughter of Inoichi-sama, huh?

The new heir of the legendary Ino-Shika-Cho, I won't even bother to check on them. With the brain of Nara, these questions will pose a little challenge to them. Moreover, it seems that they're done exchanging information.

Let's see the others...

Another half an hour passed, and several stupid participants either underestimated this test or overconfident of their own capabilities. That went without saying, my subordinates already kicked them out.

Did that girl really think that I won't notice that the obvious string and the mirrors on the ceiling? Well, at least my subordinates didn't notice that trick, I need to discipline them further it seems.

Hm? Sharingan?! Ah, the heir of the Uchiha clan. And another one from Hyuga... Gosh, they had it easier than the others...

That boy from the sand went out to the bathroom with a guy dressed as another examiner, and they didn't even notice? Gosh, I really was too lax with them.

"This is bullshit! Do you have any proof that I cheated five times?!"

Oh, a rebellious one appeared!

Anyway, it's not that uncommon for it to appear. Rather, I thought there will be more of them.

Another minute passed...

Ah, it's time for it!

"Everyone stop and listen!" The sounds of scribbled paper stopped. "Good, now we will start the tenth question!"

Just then, the sandboy is back from the bathroom. "Nice timing, was your doll playing done?" As I said those words, I saw a few of my subordinates sweated and went pale a bit. Good, at least you're aware of what consequence you bore.

"I will now explain, these are the rules... The rules of desperation!"
