"So, you are where he knows me from. That guy is a piece of work, I must say."

Sam muttered and with a wave of his hand, the earth around was manipulated. A table and two chairs were conjured out of the solid stone. He sat on one chair while gesturing Ling Tian to take a seat on the other.

Ling Tian raised an eyebrow, but still sat down.

Sam then took out some wine and poured a glass for Ling Tian.

"This is the new brew. I made it myself along with Ape. Tell me how it is."

Ling Tian held the wine glass and looked at Sam in confusion. After some silence, he took a sip and asked.

"So, is that a yes, or no?"

"It's a maybe." Sam replied.

"How can I turn it into yes?" Ling Tian asked.

"How about you spill me some stories about what that guy's deal is? Why is he aiming at my ass, even though, we never even met in our lives? He even acted as if I killed his father and son at the same time, when we met for the first time in Gambler's academy."

Ling Tian sighed. He kind of expected this, but it is not his place to give these answers.

"I cannot tell you this. I have no authority." He admitted.

Sam nodded and asked.

"So, you know of it, but cannot speak?"

Ling Tian nodded.

"Alright, at least you can clarify some doubts about him?"

"Depends. For example?"

"Have we really met before?" Sam asked.

"No, you haven't met him. That is for sure."

"Then, how much of my journey does he know? He talked about the Game a bit. Does he know from the beginning of it all?"

"Kind of. Depends on where the beginning is?"

"Beginning as in you screwing over my soul by brining me here?" Sam said with the same smile.

Ling Tian almost spat the wine out of his mouth. But he controlled himself and said.

"Harsh Toke, but no, he doesn't know that part. He knows from the time you started scaling the volcano in the Lava Rock village. He has been observing you since then. In fact, your cultivation was almost parallel to each other. Except, he reached the next levels faster than you by a bit."

"Wow, he reached faster than me? That's very cute." Sam said in an almost effeminate tone.

Ling Tian looked at him with a blank face and asked.

"What is wrong with you? Why are you talking like that?"

"Just for fun. It is not every day that I get to have Ling Tian owe me a favor or two. Since the start of our journey, I have always been on receiving end."

"Not entirely, we have been on the receiving end of your endless verbal abuse." Ling Tian replied.

Sam just smirked and said.

"Glad that my words are reaching your god.

Back to White?

Let me guess how he is related to you.

Is he your fellow disciple kind of thing? Or a fellow servant of Gambler?"

Ling Tian shook his head.

"Is he your son out of wedlock?"

Once again, Ling Tian was stuck. The wine got stuck in his throat as well.

"Can you stop this nonsense?" Ling Tian asked with a sigh.

"Chill out. I am just having some fun. Anyway, it could be done if you want." Sam said.

"What is the catch?" Ling Tian asked.

"Nothing, I will just think of it as a favor to a friendly acquaintance. But I am telling you this right away. I am only removing from the trouble of coins. He doesn't have to pay anymore, but the rest of the problems are not my responsibility.

He has to take care of themselves."

Ling Tian nodded. Even though he is not clear on what the rest of the problems are, he knew for sure that there are going to be some.

"But I am a bit worried since you are not taking any payment. I don't trust you to be a saint."

"I am better than you gods, who toy with others lives. So, you can be rest assured."

Ling Tian looked at Sam with an odd expression. Sam looked at him with a frown and asked.

"What?"

"Toying with people's lives? Really? You are talking about that? Have you been walking with your eyes closed in the Olympian city?"

Ling Tian asked with a righteous expression and it was time for Sam to cough.

After some idle chit chat, Sam went back. He commanded the hub system to remove White's name out of the ledger and made the contract void.

White who was cultivating within the dorm, felt the contract being severed.

At this moment, Sam was checking the hub system to make sure that everything is alright. At that moment, he noticed an anomaly. The count of the contracts seemed to be uneven compared to the number of connections that the hub has with the puppets.

It is not exactly abnormal, after all some people who had contracts with the hub already lost their puppets one way or the other. However, this is weird.

Instead of decreased number of puppet connections, one connection is more compared to the contracts. This is definitely abnormal.

He looked through the logs and tried to find where this anomaly is. After some search, a profile appeared on the virtual screen in front of him. A young man, the same young man that went to look for the new faith of Agmon.

It is none other than Alton.

Sam raised his eyebrow.

This is weird. He checked Alton's payment records. The previous payment was not made and by default he should have died.

If he is dead, the puppet should have automatically made its way to the hub or it would have went into the sleep mode if it cannot be reached. However, right now, the man is alive and kicking. The puppet is still with him.

Payment wasn't made. No tampering was done from the side of the Hub. So, there is no way he should have been alive. Who severed the contract?

The contingency of the soul art is that unless someone is so strong and have expertise of a god in soul arts, it couldn't be just removed like that. Even if they want to remove it, it is not going to be an easy task to do that.

That is the reason the soul contracts are not made lightly and they are almost fool proof.

And apparently Sam didn't stress enough on the almost part.

Otherwise, how could someone so easily escape this? And he even came back to roam around in the Hub. Sam immediately sat down. He focused on the surveillance information of Alton in the past few days.

And the data is amusing to say the least. He travelled around the most absurd places and stayed there absurd levels of time. And among them, there is one place that Alton spent a lot of time at. The Hub.

If it was before the whole fiasco, Sam wouldn't have minded. After all, it was normal for the students to spend the whole day in hub, but now people are coming there scarcely. Everyone is scared shitless.

Then why is he roaming there so much. That too without doing anything?
