Chapter 8 - Gut Gourmet

"So, what did you want to talk about?" asked Subaru.

"I have several questions regarding your identity and this place." said Nero.

Subaru stops in his tracks and looks at me. "What do you mean?"

"First, you aren't from this world now, are you?"

Subaru stiffens and says "How do you know that? Are you from Earth as well?"

"Hey, I am the one questioning you, but yes, I am from Earth, and so are you.

I can tell by the clothes you wear and by the way you talk. You are definitely from the Earth." said Nero.

"Damn that's perfect, I actually have a comrade here haha" laughed Subaru.

"Yes you do, I lied to you before, about my special ability, I don't have any magic called Locate, but I have an Ability that I call Vision, that shows me the future, however, so far it wasn't really accurate." said Nero.

"Are you serious? I have that same ability, and I named it the same way, how creepy." said Subaru in fear.

"What do you mean? How can you have the same ability, that's ridiculous. Alright then.. tell me, what did you see?" inquired Nero.

"Ugh.. I saw those thugs beating me up, I almost beat them up myself, however one of them pulled out the knife and I surrendered immediately."

Waah how embarrassing. Just because his enemy took out a knife, he surrendered. Doesn't he have any backbone at all? Well, it looks like he is a normal citizen, so I can't really blame him, but even so...

"I was getting beaten up, until you came and rescued me, after that, Emilia tan got kicked by one of your kicks and a weird shaped spider web crawled out of her mouth into mine, killing me in the process. After that, I woke up on the market street by the apple guy."

"Now that's interesting, I had the same vision. It looks like we have the same ability Subaru." said Nero.

"That's really strange... Btw Nero, when did you get summoned here?" asked Subaru.

"Oh I don't think I've been summoned here.. I don't remember clearly, however I know for a fact that I died of a heart attack in the middle of my training.

After that, I woke up in some dark place, waiting for some time until suddenly appearing here today. It's like my body was reconstructed or something.

My memories are still fuzzy though.

I don't even know my name, Nero is just a name I thought up." said Nero.

"Oh I see.. Well, as for how I got here... I don't really know.

I've been shopping late at night and I was suddenly here.

No explanation whatsoever, no cheat ability, only this Vision thing that isn't even accurate." said Subaru.

"Subaru, we are in this together, let's search for the thief."

"Sure Nero" said Subaru with a smile on his face.

Puck- pov

I still can't relax with Nero. I feel like if I am not on guard, Lia would die.

For the past 15 minutes we have been searching this place but we found nothing. Some people were too sick to speak, some of them were afraid of us and some of them refused to speak to us, because Lia is half-elf.

I still remember, that time I've rescued her from the crystal. She was so confused and scared. I have to know what she thinks about them.

"Lia, what do you think about them?" asked Puck.

"Ah? I think that they are very nice. They are helping us, even when they don't have to. But I am a bit scared of Nero. He always gives me that scary look." shuddered Emilia.

"Be careful about him. He is really dangerous. I can feel it.

As I am a contract spirit, my senses are much stronger than that of a human or elf, and he gives me chills." said Puck.

"Mhm.. And I think Subaru is nice, he seems like a warm person. I also liked how he didn't say anything bad about me being a half-elf.

Nero... Also didn't say anything bad, but I don't feel like he acknowledged who I am.

"Subaru heh. He seems alright. Let's enter this building and ask someone about the thief" said puck.

Just as we entered the house I've felt it. The strong aroma of blood hit my nose.

"Lia careful!" I said as I caught the knife that was thrown our way.

"Who is there!? Show yourself human!"

"Oh how nice of you to call me that.. It's been a while since someone called me a human. Hehe"

A beautiful black haired woman, clad in nothing but black steps out of the shadows.

"Who are you? And what happened here, I smell blood." said Puck.

"You've got a pretty good nose however, it's not just blood, there are guts lying on the ground as well hehe." the woman lunged towards us at insane speed.

"Shit.. Lia use your offensive spells, I will take care of your defence!"

"Alright UI Huma" shouted Emilia.

A massive ice pillar takes form in front of her.

"Hmm that may be a problem, well.. No matter. I've never seen elf's guts so I might as well continue." said the woman.

"I am a half-elf."

"..."

The room turned silent.

Lia.. I don't think that this was the right time for that. Sometimes, she just acts dumb.. Can't really blame her since she is practically a kid, but still..

"They are still not here. I have feeling that something happened." said Nero

"Let's go and find them."

After strolling for another 10 minutes we arrived at a place that was partly destroyed.

"Shall we enter?" asked Subaru.

"Let's go in" answered Nero.

As we enter the building, a strong smell of blood hit me in the face.

"Careful Subaru.. Subaru?" I turned around but Subaru was nowhere to be seen.

"Ara Ara.. What's a good looking kid like you doing here?

"MHMH" said Subaru in a muffled voice.

Subaru was captured. She could kill him any second.

"Who are you, and what do you want?"
