Rebirth: The Shadow Of Greed

Chapter 86 - Transfer

... The offense team on the other side were stunned and they didn't know what to do."

Soli said, getting excited at her recollection of the fight.

"So it's like a deathmatch? Where the losers die in the hands of the Victors? Sounds like pointless deaths to me. Why would anyone join that kind of competition?"

Z replied while whipping out a nutrition bar to eat.

"No no, it's not that barbaric! They will be using technology created by the great creator, Capricorn, 'Sanctuary' will prevent any casualties from taking place. Capricorn somehow created this by accident, when he tried to make food last longer. He thought it was a failed creation, but realized that it would help the younger generation be more accustomed to real-life scenarios."

"So it's a sort of eternal life thing? That even when we die we will still be alive? That's cool! The inventor must be a huge genius!"

Odrunn interjected excitedly.

"That's too good to be true, there ought to be a trade-off somewhere. You can't just have eternal life that way."

Z added in, giving his thoughts on the matter.

The transport artefact hummed on, as the trio slowly fell into sleep, it was a peaceful ride with no disturbances, the bumps on the road did not affect them at all.

After travelling for a bit the transport artefact came to a complete halt. The driver of the artefact came to the back and opened the doors preparing for their disembarkation.

"Ahh, so nostalgic! We're finally back here!"

Odrunn excitedly said as he looked around the school complex.

"What are you on about? It's only been a few months since we've gone."

Z replied perplexed.

"Don't you miss this place? We can have the comforts of the modern world."

Soli interjected

"We have that at your place too you know?"

"But… We Didn't have that out in the basin!"

"We still stay in tentages regardless so…"

"Oh right! I've asked my family and they said you can feel free to move into the Aquos building on campus. Although it is built for the lodging for the people of the family we have enough space for 2 more."

Soli excitedly spoke.

"Really? Thanks, Daymas! Thanks, Soli."

Odrunn excitedly shouted out.

Z nodded his head as the trio walked through security.

"Zero Cromwell? The principal would like to meet with you. Please follow us to the office."

"When you're done, have them bring you to the Aquos building, call me when you arrive."

Z acknowledged both of them as he followed the guard towards the administration building where the principal office was.

'Knock knock' the guard knocked on the door as he bellowed out in a somewhat loud voice

"Sir, we have Zero Cromwell here to see you."

"Alright! Send him in!"

The doors opened as it paved the way to an immaculate office, not a speck of dust could be seen as the wood and leather in the room formed a very professional office.

"Mr Cromwell, we haven't met formally, please have a seat."

Principal Davenport motioned towards the chair beckoning Z to take a seat as he walked over to sit down in front of him.

"I've heard from Daymas that you've manifested during your time in the basin?"

"Yes sir, it was a stroke of luck that I managed to manifest there, otherwise it will be quite difficult to survive."

Z said, promptly.

"It was an unfortunate incident that caused you to land in the basin, it was definitely a mistake on the school's part. I would like to apologise first and foremost about that. But although you went through significant danger, it was still a cloud with a silver lining when you came out of it with no problems. I'm thankful for that. Do you want me to schedule a time to have your manifest analysed? That way we can maybe look into possible transfers as well."

Principal Davenport said stroking his chin as he looked at Z, he had no signs of malice he truly wanted to help the kid out, which was rare for people in power.

"Sir, actually I've already been tested by the hunters association"

Z extended his commswatch towards principal Davenport as he flashed the information.

"I have a B ranked psychic manifest. To be honest, I do want to request a transfer as I feel that I should be a better fit being an offence team member."

Z continued his eyes were resolute.

"I understand and from what I see you have the potential to be a great offence team member, however… the year is already almost over and all that's left are mock trials before the final exams. If you go straight into the offence department, I'm not sure if you can pass the trials let alone the exams."

Principal Davenport said while looking at Z with soft eyes, he didn't want to see someone waste an entire year just because of pride.

"Sir, with all due respect, I believe that I can excel in this. How about this, let me attend the trials, if my performance is acceptable, let me proceed with the transfer. Otherwise, I'll take the trial for the vanguards and take the exam there."

Z said with seriousness in his eyes, he was confident at whatever test he was going to take regardless of whether it was for offence or the vanguards.

"Okay, I will let you do that, but just this once. I'm also concerned about Odrunn, he has missed a lot of lessons after all. His records before weren't that fantastic as well…"

"Sir, I wouldn't worry too much about that, the Odrunn right now cannot be counted based on your expectations."

Z smiled, as Principal Davenport walked him out of the main door and instructed the guards to escort him.

Walking in the school seems familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time. Both times he was in the academy it didn't last very long before he was whisked away.
