After that it was time to go to one of the Ilias city's. It's been a while since I've seen my adoptive mother, Granberria. I was also secretly hoping for a sparing session while in the town. We were on the road and I was casually talking with Sal on a few different ideas for fire attacks when Alice pulled me aside. I looked ahead and saw the Mandragora, which I sent sealing fire at, thus ensuring Luka didn't lose. Alice looks a little peeved at my intrusion but doesn't make a big deal of it.

It was then that the three of us heard yelling and screaming. Luka immediately ran to the city while me and Alice stayed a little bit behind him. I could hear Luka trying to fight Granberria, but was unable to hold myself back as I approached them.

Granberria seemed taken aback, but also pleasantly surprised. "Well, it's been a while Max. I hope you aren't too bored adventuring with this pipsqueak here." she says as she backhands Luka into a wall.

I shrug and say "Well, it hasn't been too bad, it's actually been very funny for the most part with how he was constantly being surrounded because of my presence."

She. Actually. Laughs. This is surprising for me since from my memory she never laughed and was always serious. She wipes a tear out of her eye and tells me that she missed me and was sorry she didn't come to see me sooner. I tell her it's no big deal and that I wished to have a spar for old times sake. We both meet back up some miles out of town and take our stances. "So are we gonna put up stakes for this time, Berria?" I ask.

I smile, "How about this, If I win, you have to adventure with us, and if I lose, you can do any one thing you want to or with me."

I think I may have just made a big mistake, with the way she instantly agreed to that. I can see the passion, the d.e.s.i.r.e to win no matter what in her eyes. Her eyes widen when she sees the blade and instantly moves to dodge instead of block, but I summon Yami no ha, in my other hand and swing at her, which she blocks instead of taking the hit. She counters and manages to scratch my shoulder before I move which is impressive. I commend her on hitting me and we both start to take this seriously.

She clads her sword in Haki and takes a huge swing at me in hopes of taking me off guard. I activate my own in my blades and the swords start to spark against each other as I block her attempt to cut me. She smiles, which I instantly know isn't a good thing, and she punches me in the face! I am knocked back from the sudden force of the punch and she manages to cut off my left arm. I kicked her in retaliation and start to focus on regenerating my arm but she rushes me again. I try to keep her from getting close with my teleportation, but she's too fast and is able to keep up effortlessly. I take this this time to ready my unsealed swords form. She rushes toward me a little too fast and I take the opening and fling her far away from me and bring both my arms together which have fully healed and shout, "Malevolent Good, Benevolent Evil, Tip the balance! Blur the boundaries! Bring forth madness! Konton no ha!" Both my swords, Yami and hikari fuse together into one giant broadsword/ greatsword. This is one of my trump cards, which I'm surprised I have to use.

"Be proud, Berria! For you have forced me to get truly serious! Prepare yourself for chaos!" I yell and dash towards her as fast as I can.

I instantly try to end things with one swing, but she somehow dodges and swings for my head. I activate my haki to prevent myself from being decapitated. It works, and I manage to bring myself back to a ready state.

We are both tired, we can see that. So we both bring forth our ultimate attack.

She uses the same attack she usually uses, her rebellion sword attack, while I use my slashes of the mad demon god. Our attacks offset each other at first but my attack gradually gets through and I end the spar with a horizontal swing from Konton no ha.

She falls at my feet. I slowly lift her back up and place her over my shoulder in a fireman's carry. When I return to town in human form, the citizens start cheering and flinging praise on me. I meet up with Luka and Alice at the center of the attention. Alice is eating something as usual, while Luka just looks embarresed at all the praise. I pull Luka to his feet and tell Alice to follow us. We make it to the inn in town, who's name I sadly cannot remember. The same occurs as in the original and we all end up sharing a room. Before I fall myself I remember to tell Alice that if I find her scent on me that I would bring her back to the castle and have Tamamao place her under house arrest. She pales and nods quickly. I bring myself back to sleep and before I fall asleep I find myself thinking of the fight with Tamamao no mae and her promise to snag me for herself after I won, slowly falling asleep.

The owner actually told me to keep any tips I received since she found the food so good. I thanked her and finally finished the last of the food and saved some for Granberria later. She turns around and asks, "So, what brings the three of you here with that human?"

I recount the tales of our adventures, from the hilarious slime fight to the recent confession of Granberria. She silently listened and didn't interrupt. When I finished, she stood up and took hold of my hand and left the room after releasing my hand. She went up to Alice and asked her something, which she nodded and all of a sudden I felt drowsy.

A week later...........
