Reborn Into Star Wars

Chapter 14 - Training

[POV Change, Shalla]

I had known I had a connection to the force for nearly five years now, it was something to hide, if the empire figured out I would be dead or worse. Well they did figure out.

My mother was a mechanic, she had been working hard for several months to perfect her swoop for the big comeback race of the sport.  A few weeks before the races began a few storm troopers arrived at our house trying to arrest her for conspiracy to help the rebellion. I tried to stop them, I lashed out. It wasn't enough. I went into hiding and everything was quite for a few weeks until two men showed up.

I was hiding in our bas.e.m.e.nt, we had made it to where the hatch was only able to be opened from the inside. My dad had a secret knock that would tell me if it was safe to come out. For the first time in a few days I heard this knock.

Crawling from the bas.e.m.e.nt, I saw my father's deep smile, it was always good to see him. I looked around and saw two men, one was wearing a tan and orange jumpsuit, he had dark blue hair and a goatee, he was smiling and seemed to be friendly. The other one caught my eye, he was young, but seemed to radiate knowledge and power, his aura was intimidating and calm. The younger of the two was wearing black robes with a plate of armor visible from the front, his eyes were… strange, they were blue with cracks of yellow, a thin red line surrounding the iris. He was a sith.

I jumped at him, he had probably warped my fathers mind into thinking he was a friend, the same wouldn't happen to me. My attack was cut short automatically, my muscles wouldn't listen and I was frozen in the air. I was slammed into the wall, pain washing over me.

Suddenly I couldn't breathe. I was gasping for air, but none would come. I looked to the man whom I had tried to attack, he was in a trance. His fist was clinched and he was muttering under his breath.

I started to get sleepy when all of a sudden the bearded man put his hand on the head of the robed figure. The robed man fell to the ground and I was released, I fell to the ground as well.

The friendly man spoke with my father for a few minutes. It took a while for the man to convince my father, but it was eventually agreed upon that they would train me. That's how I ended up in this situation.

-----

"Do it again, this time focus." Emmett had been shooting at me with a laser rifle, he's been telling me that if I focus and let the force guide me I will be able to sense and deflect the attacks. "You've shot me at least a dozen times, can we take a break and work on something else" I was aching all over. He was making me wear a blind fold, I had received a lightsaber that he recovered from a fallen Jedi. Emmett smirked

"You have been shot 2.5 dozen times. The rifle is on stun, it may hurt like hell, but it won't kill you. Furthermore we are doing this to not only hone your connection to the force, but to sharpen your reflexes as well. We will move on when I can no longer shoot you." he fired again, this shot landed on the the back of my t.h.i.g.h. I fell to one knee. "You seem to be failing at this"

"I don't even know how to use the force, I've only ever been able to when I was angry" there was a moment of silence, then the young man that seemed only a few years older than her lifted her blindfold. In a menacing tone he said

"Then. Get. Angry."

"I can't get angry at will." he ripped the blindfold off my head and it ignited. He spoke as it burned "there are things harder to control than anger"

The flame turned into an image of my father. a thin, gaunt man with greying hair and a thinning smile. The fire then showed him being attacked by Imperial troopers, he was shot. "Imagining a loved one dying. Thinking of one you hate." the image then changed to the soldier who took my mother. "Things can easily anger someone, I once had to rely on doing this. Eventually I was so used to controlling the force that it became instinctual."

The flame faded, and all I saw were the eyes of my mentor.
