Reincarnation: A New World

Chapter 7 - Doting Parents

The days flew by as Nora focused on converting the Inner-Cultivation manual, 'Demonic Witchgod Transformations' from Qi to Mana. As Nora finished the labourus conversion she heard a knock on her door.

Nora content with her work, slowly made her way towards the door. On the other side of the door, both Nora's dad and mom had been giddily waiting. Any parent could tell you, the first day of school is always a momentous occasion, the day your child's life takes flight. As Nora opened the door her parents barged in with bright smiles. Nora's mom suspiciously hiding something behind her back. Nora slightly creeped out by their excitement decided to just go with it, what else was she to do?

Nora's parents eventually managed to compose themselves. Nora's mom rather excitedly pulled a rather bleak yet ornate black and white outfit with scarce traces of purple from behind her back.

"Do you like your academy uniform?" Nora's mom inspecting her daughters face for a response. Nora couldn't help but mentally sigh. She had never really liked the concept of uniforms before. She had always preferred to just be herself rather than have others dictate what she could do. Hiding her distaste Nora simply smiled, "How lovely..." her sentence slightly trailing.

Nora's mom instantly saw through Nora's words yet her happiness did not falter. It was simply too great of an occasion. Nora's mom handed the outfit to Nora, "Put it on, we still have to take a carriage to the Imperial Academy."

Nora's mom who had entered her own realm of bliss, once again noticing the presence of her husband, who had been minding his own business and angerly said, "Get out! You shouldn't watch your daughter undress!"

She stomped her way towards him, forcefully picked him up and with all her might threw him out the door, sending him flying across their estate. The sounds of the husband turned projectile echoing in the background.

Seemingly unfazed Nora's mom locked the door and expectingly watched her daughter. "Come on, change..." her gaze's steadfast nature creeping out Nora.

-

Nora's father regained consciousness in a ditch. His body had created a series of human-shaped imprints in the walls of his estate. Dusting himself of the dirt that now riddled his clothes, he couldn't help but think, 'Why couldn't she just ask me? I hope Nora's alright with the unleashed 'Mama Bear'.'

Nora's father climbed through the newly created windows back towards Nora's room.

-

Nora's father had almost returned to Nora's room before as if setting off a trigger, the door of Nora's room came flying open. Nora's mom walked out first, covering Nora as she walked out.

"May I present to you," Nora's mom nearly bursting at the seems, "Nora!"

Nora's mom continued her showcase by emphasizing Nora as she frantically shifted to the side and attempted to finish her awkward display with 'jazz hands' but somehow failed miserably.

Nora, frankly embarrassed, couldn't help but slightly blush as she stood there awkwardly in front of her father in her academy uniform.

-

Nora's father, who had been keeping track of time, had become slightly worried that if they delayed much longer they would miss the opening ceremony. Knowing the half delusional state his wife was in, he began to drag his wife and daughter to the carriage that had been sent by the Academy to pick them up.

Although a carriage isn't quite necessary in a world with an abundance of people who have superhuman powers, it had become a rather old tradition and a display of power that the Academy was more than eager to flaunt.

Nora now being lead by her father, couldn't help but notice that her mother still hadn't broken out of her parental stupor.

As Nora and her parents approached the carriage, Nora couldn't help but notice the purple banners carrying a white and black emblem of what seemed to be a hybrid between a horse and an eagle, hanging on the sides of the carriage.

-

The carriage ride was far more comfortable than Nora had originally expected. Unlike her previous world, something was different with these carriages. They lacked the ruggedness that she had disliked in her previous life. Due to the Imperial Academy being situated several kilometers outside of the city, the journey was going to take some time. As the carriage began to move Nora's eyes were glued to the passing streets.

At first, Nora saw a series of similar estates to her own. Each of the estates proudly flying their own familial banners, causing Nora to realized she hadn't seen her own family's banner. The realization caused Nora to think of several questions she would like to answer for herself at a later date.

Soon enough the carriage entered what seemed like the centre of the city. A series of massive markets lined the streets, the streets were literally bustling with activity. Curious to the cultivation of what seemed to be the average populace, she activated 'Mana Sense'. Immediately Nora felt an abundance of Mana in the vicinity. Countless people were at the Mana Circulation Realm with the vast majority either stuck at the fifth stage bottleneck or the tenth stage bottleneck. Only the odd few had reached the Foundation Establishment Realm. The sensing of so many people caused a *Ding* within Nora's mind.

This day was already shaping up quite well, Nora had leveled up Mana Sense and for the first time really got to see the city. The way things were going, she was quite excited for the Academy.
