Reincarnation: Love After Death

Chapter 21 - Grey with a Hint of Silver

Elaia couldn't contain her curiosity so she asked Vainos and Akila, "Why do you both have one wing instead of a pair of wings?"

Akila answered, "A pair of wings were only meant for the three powerful Gods."

"The God of Heaven, the God of Hell, and the God of Death." Vainos added.

"Servants like Vainos and I were only given one wing. In order to make full use of my wing, I need to be paired up with my equal in terms of authority and power. In my case, my equal is this guy." Then Akila pointed towards Vainos. "He ranked highest among the servants of the God of Heaven while I ranked highest among the servants of Lucy that's what made us equal with each other."

"Which means that in order for us to transport ourselves to a different place, we need to be together because my wing is a pair of his wing." Vainos continued.

Elaia then asked, "If your wing," she said while pointing towards Akila, "and your wing," now pointing towards Vainos "is a pair, why is that the color of your wings were different from each other?"

Akila smirked and answered, "Our wings represent the Masters that we serve. I have a black wing because I serve the God of Hell while Vainos' wing represents the God of Heaven that is why it is white."

As Elaia looked closer at their wings and she noticed some specks of silver which both wings have in common. So she questioned them, "Your wings were different in color but both of you have some silver specks on it. What does it represent?"

Vainos pointed towards D. "Him. The God of Death."

"Grey with a hint of silver." D said in a monotone.

"What Grey and silver?" Elaia asked as she turned her attention to D.

"My wings." D answered.

Grey with some silver. A very fitting color for D. How Elaia wished she can see D's wings.

As if reading Elaia's mind, D said, "Unless you have a death wish, don't hope on seeing my wings."

"Why?" Elaia continued interrogating D.

"Because only the dead or departed, my servants, and the other Gods can see my wings." D answered.

"What is the color of the God of Heaven's wings, Vainos?" she asked.

"Gold." Vainos answered.

"What about the God of Hell's wings, Akila?"

Akila then looked at Elaia and answered, "Bronze."

"Which means that D is second to the highest in terms of ranking?" Elaia questioned.

Akira giggled, "What made you think that, Elaia?"

"Gold, Silver, Bronze. First, Second, Third. It's like that isn't it?" Elaia said.

"Nope." Akila said and chuckled then he continued, "The three Gods were all equal in terms of ranking and in power. Their wings were created to fit according with the bearer's personality or the description of their respective kingdoms"

"Gold for my Master because heaven is a place for the rewarded people because of their good deeds." Vainos added.

"Bronze is a color that some people mistook for gold. Deception. My master's greatest asset," Akila said with pride.

Elaia then turned to D, waiting for him to explain the meaning behind the color of his wings.

D noticed Elaia's anticipation so he explained, "Grey that matches my eyes, and Silver because I am everyone's silver lining. When others come to me, they hope that there's a good thing behind every bad thing. Which means they hope that there's always something good after death."
