Return of the last survivor

Just as Merlin was about to get up to continue his campaign inside the dungeon, his eyes suddenly opened, giving of blinding white light which took the attention of both Max and Jack.

Although they were slightly worried about Merlin, they assumed it must be him reaching some higher level. So they moved slightly closer to Merlin and began protecting his body, which was not violently shaking, while being stuck in that one position.

Suddenly, blood started coming out from Merlin's eyes at an astonishing speed. It was almost like two curtains of blood were formed on his cheeks.

Both Max and Jack looked at each other, nodded, and dashed towards Merlin. They had come to the consensus to wake-up Merlin by any means necessary. His life might be in danger. Jack was using mana to shock Merlin's mana into a slightly chaotic state, so that he would wake up. On the other hand, Max was vigorously shaking Merlin.

Suddenly, Merlin inhaled sharply, and the white light began to die out, revealing two blood-red eyes.

At this point, Merlin could not see anything. He quickly used his mana and converted it to light mana and sent it to all parts of his body. However, he soon noticed that all the mana in his body had been exhausted! And absorbing mana from the air would take too long. He didn't have that much time.

He had to use a skill. Looking around at all the blood, he suddenly remembered the description of a particular skill. After hesitating for a while, he activated [Vampire's Touch]. The reason he had refrained from using skills until now was due to the insidious nature of those so-called gods.

Most passive skills did not have any tricks within them. But almost all active skills had tricks imbedded within them. For example, the berserk skill would burn one's stats in order to gain a temporary boost in strength, dexterity, and mana. It basically uses your long-term growth for short-term strength, and is a skill useful as the last option.

Some skills like [Mental Connection] and [Tame] only used mana, which wasn't that bad. However, skills like [Parallel thought] and [Vampire's Touch] were things that he did not know about. He did not know the payment he would have to give in order to use skills like that.

But he didn't have much of a choice. He needed to clear the dungeon as soon as possible and return to the base. What had happened just now was in reality the skill [Future Sight] activating. However, instead of giving a few second in the future, it showed a scene of sometime in the future. A scene within the Colossus, the base of Merlin's group. It was littered with bodies, the bodies of the officers. And at the centre of it all, was a human. A human with a crazed expression of glee and bloodthirst, along with a blue mark on his head.

It was a player, and a relatively strong one to be able to kill everyone. Merlin was not in a state of panic at the moment, but was in fact rather calm. He had assumed that his group would meet a player sooner or later. However, he didn't expect to meet one this quickly, and one that seemed to be a murdering psychopath.

While he was decided on his new plan, all the blood on the floor and walls within 30 meters of himself flew towards him and entered his body. Suddenly, his mana began to surge at a crazy speed. However, he knew there was a catch, and he was waiting for the catch. But nothing came. Suddenly he thought of something and opened his status.

Putting the backlash to the back of his head, he used some of the newly regenerated mana to heal his entire body, and then stood up.

"Right. Now both of you will now return back to base with the faster speed you know. Protect everyone to the best of your abilities. Remember, if someone strong comes, do not needlessly engage him. Just stall him for as long as possible. I will be there soon. GO!"

With this, the two ran towards the entrance of the dungeon, while Merlin ran towards the centre.
