Rising Against Fate

Chapter 26 - Aquarium Visit Part - 4

The rest of the men started shooting at him in panic, but like before, the dark cocoon appeared around him and acted as a shield.

While they were busy attacking, Razak unleashed another dark slash towards his left and chopped off the head of three on that side.

The shadow magic was considered a very difficult discipline to master. Normally, it was unthinkable that someone with this level of mastery over this art would show up like this. Not just that, the way he was using two powerful spells at the same time showed that his magic potency was off the charts.

Like most humans, when Jeff realized that he was fighting an impossible battle, he chose survival over everything else. While the other 3 men were busy trying to keep Razak distracted, he tried running away.

He hastily turned around and ran toward the exit, but little did he know that the next slash was coming at him from behind. It was a diagonal slash that stroke right in his back. And with it, he fell on the ground without even letting out a single cry.

When they saw that happen, the three men threw their guns on the floor and tried running away. But soon, they ended up in a state not much different from their leader when the dark slash hit them from behind.

"Now, I guess this settles everything."

The floor was filled with blood and dead bodies. Razak still hadn't deactivated the shield around Alice. This shied, also known as Dark Cocoon, could prevent any visual and sound attack from getting through when fully activated. For now, since the battle was over, he deactivated it partially and let the sound through.

"Alice, close your eyes and don't open it until I tell you to."

"Okay, but what happened? Are you alright?"

"There was an attack, but everything is under control now. We won't be able to continue the visit, but since we still have some time, let me arrange something else. For now, please close your eyes."

"Umhmm."

Normally, anyone would panic when they hear about the attack. But the way Razak explained that everything was alright, assured Alice that there was nothing more to be worried about.

After Alice agreed, Razak deactivated the Cocoon and slowly pushed the wheelchair outside.

"You can open your eyes now."

When Alice opened her eyes, both of them were standing at the entrance. She looked towards her brother but there was no notable change in his composure.

Razak took the MM out of his pocket and ordered a cab. He then set the white car they came on in auto-drive mode and sent it back to the villa.

It didn't take long for the cab to come after which he helped Alice get into it. After both of them were inside, Razak gave the instructions to the virtual driver.

"Driver, take us to 14 Chiyo street."

Alice's mood that looked a little off a while ago, bloomed again. The address he told the driver was where his home was. She wanted to visit the place since Razak started living there but couldn't arrange a visit. And now, because of this unfortunate turnaround, she finally got the opportunity.

Even though she was happy, she didn't say anything. She just turned to the other side and looked through the window.

It was almost 1 but the time they left for Razak's house. Under normal circ.u.mstances Razak would just let the issue slide, but here, there was definitely someone major involved. Even though he knew that Alice won't be too happy about this, he dialed Villous.

"What happened?"

Normally, one would pick up their phone with a greeting, but it was rare for Villous to get a call from Razak. He was getting one now meant something major had come up, hence the unusual response to the ring. Or it could just be that he was worried about his daughter, and the call from Razak intensified that worry.

"There were 2 kidnapping attempts. You may be seeing them on the news soon. Anyways, she is safe here with me and I am taking her to my home. But I want you to investigate the matter, it looks like someone is a step ahead of us. And by the looks of things, this isn't some ordinary individual. My money is on one of the clans."

"Hmm… Ongaku's are in good terms with me so it's definitely not them. I am sure they too won't be very pleased when they hear about this. I will try contacting them regarding the matter."

"Okay, send someone to pick her up in about 2 hours from now."

With that, Razak ended the call. Ordinarily, it would have been better to take her to the villa himself, but this time it was obvious that the enemy's goal wasn't just kidnapping.

Though things weren't that simple either. Razak wasn't ignorant enough to think that the attack wouldn't happen just because he wasn't there. For now, he was just waiting to see if the white car will reach the villa safely or not. And based on that, he could decide what move to make moving ahead.

"You had to tell him, didn't you?"

Alice, who was listening to the call, bummed out on him as soon as he ended it. From her point of view, it was only fair, because now, Villous won't allow her to go out of the house for a while. And that 'while' depended on how long it would take for the investigation to produce any result.

"Alice, try to understand. It's regarding your safety so we can't compromise here. He will find out about it sooner or later. Just think about how mad he will be when he finds out that despite all the things that happened, we didn't tell him anything. We would be betraying his trust."

"Yeah, but you know… now he won't let me go out at all."

"I understand. That is why I will come to visit you every once in a while."

"Okay then. Promise me that you would come and visit me every week."

Alice's mood that looked somewhat sad, changed back to her normal self. Razak was always amazed at how easy it was to change her mood. But then he realized that unlike him, she didn't need big things to be happy. That was a quality in her that he found somewhat similar to a person whom he once cared about the most once.

"I don't think that's possible, but I will try."
