CHAPTER 1.3: ENTERING THE GAME (1)

    Silence filled the bus again.

There seemed to be a wind blowing outside, and it shook the tree branches on both sides of the road.

The wind must be very strong to bend such thick branches, but, somehow, they still couldn’t hear the sound. When the inside of the bus was silent, the world also fell into deep silence.

You couldn’t even hear the bus driving normally on the road. The bus didn’t seem to need any energy to start, and it slowly shuttled through a world where there was no sound.

They didn’t know where it would take them.

“You’re lying.” The actor said to Ning Su. “If you saw so many moving dead bodies, how can you be so calm, with no expression of surprise or fear?”

Ning Su: “I have facial paralysis.”

    “...”

“The speed of the bus is so fast, passing by in a flash. You, how can you tell at a glance that there are 120 moving corpses inside?”

Without giving Ning Su a chance to speak, the actor sneered, “A moving corpse, ah, I have indeed seen it in the zombie movie I acted in. Do you really think there are zombies?”

    Ning Su was silent.

His beautiful eyes are full of doubts, and he looked a little guilty, making others think that the actor’s words blocked him completely.

Obviously, most people on the bus did not believe what he said. So, when the actor pointed out the loopholes in it, since they were already afraid in their hearts, they instinctively refused to believe the horrible facts, and followed what they thought was safe.

Zhu Shuangshuang, the ponytail girl who had just breathed a sigh of relief, became nervous again when she saw this. “It’s true. Why would we lie to you? There’s no reason, it’s true!”

The muscular man who was still holding her hair suddenly realized. “Do you want us to stay on this bus?”

As soon as he finished speaking, an emotionless electronic voice sounded on the bus.

[Please don’t leave the bus, or you will bear the consequences. ]

The timing of this electronic sound was too subtle, as if Ning Su and Zhu Shuangshuang really lied so they would not leave the bus.

Several people on the bus looked at them with hostility.

“Say, what exactly are you trying to do?!”

 “What is your purpose?”

Seeing that the two were being targeted and surrounded, the little Taoist priest behind suddenly stood up, and he repeated what he had just said to Ning Su loudly to divert the conflict, “I think there is something wrong with that driver!”

The muscular man stopped, thinking that he was about to go to the driver to stop the other just now, but was interrupted by the girl’s scream.

He changed his footsteps and walked towards the driver again. He wanted to get out of the bus now more than before.

But after taking two steps, he stopped hesitantly.

From the beginning to the end, the driver drove in silence, without looking back and without speaking.

Before the hearse and the dead bodies were mentioned, he could still say that the driver was driving seriously while staring at the road ahead. But after those things were mentioned, the driver was still silent, not even looking back. This made the muscled man feel a little uncomfortable.

There were many people who thought like him.

They hadn’t seen the driver’s face, they could only speculate from the wavy hair on the back that it should be a female driver.

No matter what they said, she didn’t seem to hear, and just sat there in silence.

In front of her was a smiling red beckoning Lucky Cat, with its paws waving back and forth, as if beckoning passengers to come over.

The Lucky Cat’s slender red lips were curved, smiling strangely. There seemed to be a red drop at the corner of its mouth, like blood that was forgotten to be wiped off.

There were several dolls hanging beside the driver’s seat. The little humanoid dolls lowered their heads, and the white thread passed through the necks of the dolls to hang them on the roof, moving as the bus shook.

The muscular man rubbed his arms, turned his head and asked the little Taoist priest: “You think there is something wrong with the driver? What is wrong?”

The little Taoist stood up and looked at the back of the driver, took a few steps to the right, continued to look, and then said to the muscular man: “Can you see the driver in the rear-view mirror?”

Just now everyone was immersed in anxious emotions, and didn’t think of this basic common sense.

In fact, they didn’t need to go near the driver. They should be able to see her from the rear-view mirror.

Besides the left and right sides of this bus, there was also a rectangular mirror in the middle.

Oddly, no one on the bus could see the driver in either mirror.

The muscled man also found this problem, and like most people, the first thing he thought of was that there must be a problem in the mirror's angle.

After looking through the three mirrors one by one, he asked the man in the suit on the left in the first row, “Can you see her face?”

The man in the suit shook his head. “I can’t see it.”

The muscular man asked the actor again, “Can you see it ?”

The male actor pinched his hands. His expression was hideous. “I can see the driver’s seat, but I can’t see the person.”

At this moment, the muscular man’s expression changed a little. But he didn’t give up and asked the people behind him in different directions.

Except for those who dare not look in the rear-view mirror, he got the same answer every time.

People in different directions on the bus - front, back, left, and right — had the same answer. They could only see the driver’s seat, but they couldn’t see the driver in the three mirrors. The driver was just sitting there and driving.

The bus fell into an eerie silence again.
