Chapter 33.2: Manman (6)

May 05, 2023 by Wyrd

The knocking and pounding on the door became increasingly forceful, the sound louder and more frequent. One could imagine countless monster children pounding on the window nonstop.

From the sound, one could hear their increasing force and growing anger.

“Bang! Bang! Bang! BANG!!! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! BANG!!!!!!!“

Layer after layer of broken wood fell from beneath the arched window, and the metal plates and blocks that were sealing the window began to deform.

Zhu Shuangshuang said, “Hurry, hold it up!”

Meng Jiang rushed to the front, and the five players immediately rushed to the window to hold up the layer upon layer of protective panels.

The four players were in a desperate mood, but whether it was due to the good quality of the protective panels or something else entirely, defending this time seemed a bit easier.

The bent and twisted metal blocks were beaten back by someone’s hands.

Ban Zhong exclaimed, “Damn, Meng Jiang, you’re too awesome! Did your strength level up from the danger and excitement?”

Meng Jiang was uncertain, “Really?”

Zhu Shuangshuang said, “Really, you’re incredible on this fourth floor!”

Ji Mingrui felt it and said, “It seems like the force has weakened a lot, and they’ve started climbing up?”

Ban Zhong was just feeling happy when he said seriously, “They’ll probably come back down after going up. The two big shots up there are too powerful.”

Meng Jiang nodded and said, “I bet they can’t even find the sixth floor. Shi Tianzhu has a space folding tool, so it’s up to the situation on the fifth floor.”

The group felt a little uneasy.

The ghost friends held back their tears for a moment and looked at the five people standing in front of the window with tearful eyes.

Compared to the pounding upstairs, the fourth floor fell into a brief silence.

Five children were breathing heavily in the cold and foul air, tightly pressing against the arched window, waiting for the monster children’s final decision.

This waiting was like the sword of Damocles hanging over their heads, with every passing second adding more anxiety and panic.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!!!“

The sudden sound of angry pounding was like hitting the players’ hearts, causing them to widen their eyes.

They had expected the monster children to come back, but they didn’t expect it to be so soon.

The angry monster children fiercely slammed against the window, with an unstoppable momentum.

The five people clearly felt that they were even angrier and stronger than before, pushing them forward with each bump.

Meng Jiang exclaimed, “Damn it! The metal has turned into the shape of a child!”

They had sealed several layers of wooden boards and metal sheets on the window, with a piece of iron in the middle. The wooden boards had been smashed long ago.

At this moment, even the thick metal sheet showed a series of grotesque shapes of children, crazily drilling inward.

The iron mixed with an unknown liquid dripped down, and a strong metallic odor filled the corridor, making people feel nauseous.

“The liquid on their bodies can melt iron!” Meng Jiang shouted.

Ban Zhong said, “Monster children also surrounded the other rooms!”

“Bang! Bang! Bang!!!” came from the arched window.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!!!“ came from the window of room 401.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!!!“ came from the window of room 402.

...

“Bang! Bang! Bang!!!“ came from the window of room 407.

“Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!!!“ came from the stairs.

“Bang, bang, bang!!! Bang, bang, bang, bang!!!“ came from the door of room 407, which was just a stone’s throw away.

The loud banging sound continued to grow louder and closer, coming from all over the fourth floor.

Accompanied by the angry and roaring sound of the monster children they heard for the first time, the entire floor was surrounded and shaken by their impact.

It seemed like the fourth floor was about to be smashed and collapsed.

This premonition materialized as a tangible shaking, clearly imprinted on the players’ dilated pupils.

The eerie nursery rhyme turned from chilly silence to anger and sorrow.

[Mom’s belly is so warm, I want to drag it to hell to accompany me

When I died, it trembled, but what about its attachment to me?

Why do you always ignore me when you grow up?

I was trapped in a cold room, could you hear me crying?]

The sad, frightened crying of the ghost friends also echoed throughout the floor.

It was unclear which door made the cracking sound.

There were too many doors, too many entrances, and they were surrounded on all sides, with no escape.

It was unclear who uttered a low, hoarse, despairing and sobbing voice: “We’re finished.”

They seemed to have already seen the image of the monster children, pale as wax, walking silently into the corridor from nine entrances, looking at them with a smile.

“Get out of the way.”

The quiet voice, when it first sounded, did not catch the attention of the players who were trapped in fear, panic, and despair.

Ning Su had to raise his voice and say it again, “Move aside.”

He could hold his ground against these monster children if he pushed himself. But he was afraid that his black energy would quickly drain too much and spread around, which these humans couldn’t withstand. He wasn’t sure if they would be infected with the zombie virus.

Pushing himself like this would consume too much of his stamina.

His stamina was only 32.

He had turned back into his childhood form, and his stamina had decreased significantly.

He couldn’t keep it up.

This time, the four people heard it. At the same time, they saw the most terrifying scene and staggered forward, staring at the front in horror, stiff as a board.

“Woo-hoo.”

Two monster children came out of room 404.

The lights in the corridor were much brighter this time, and the warm yellow light shone on their oily white bodies, clearly reflecting their appearance.

Both of these monster children were very small and slightly deformed due to poor development. One had a protruding neck, and the other had a sunken forehead.

They were as white as snowmen, and their bodies appeared to be a glossy white due to the slightly yellowish liquid on them.

Some liquid flowed down their bodies and formed a sticky puddle on the ground.

The monster children, who were smashing the walls frantically, approached the ghost friends in the corridor and suddenly quieted down, looking at them with dead eyes.

The ghost friends cried while trying to move their bodies to the back and crawl away.

Under the gaze of the players’ horror, the ghost friends moved, and at the same time, a little boy next to them moved as well.

He disappeared like a gust of wind at the window and flew towards the gorgeous and retro chandelier in the corridor.

On the brass chandelier with carved flowers, there were several pretty but seemingly impractical small candles that the players had always thought were useless.

That was before.

One of the small candles was kicked towards two monster children, and the small flame that was not “practical” fell to the feet of the monster children, suddenly burst into flames, burning the two.

The two oily-white monster children immediately let out a tragic and miserable scream, struggling in the flames.

“If they are really water baby spirits,” Zhu Shuangshuang murmured, “Why didn’t I think that they would be afraid of fire, not just afraid...”

In the next second that the small candle was kicked towards the two monster children, candles flew towards the doors of various rooms on the fourth floor, as well as the arched windows behind them.

They didn’t see how the fire started in other places, but they saw clearly behind this arched window.

In addition to the wood chips and boards, there was a layer of oil and powder.

They immediately thought of the various oils and dough brought by Ning Su and Gui Sheng from the kitchen, as well as his crouching on the ground, brushing various places with a brush.

After the arched window caught fire, there immediately came a tragic scream and an angry “wu huo” from outside the window.

The monster children smashed the arched window, and from the hole, they could see the monster children outside falling down.

Even if the monster children were only burned a little, they struggled and disappeared tragically in the fire.

The monster children who were not burned were even more thoroughly provoked.

They madly smashed the walls around the window, and the whole castle seemed to be shaking, but they didn’t approach the source of the fire. Instead, they were gradually retreating.

The collisions in the rooms in the corridor disappeared.

The four players breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Ning Su.

The six-year-old boy had his small feet hooked on the chandelier, hanging upside down underneath.

His small arms and hair hung weakly, swaying back and forth with the “creak” of the chandelier.

Like a little salted fish that had lost its dreams.

A mournful voice came, “When will you guys become thighs for me to hug?”

“...”

Ji Mingrui asked, “You knew they were afraid of fire a long time ago? Why didn’t you say it earlier?”

The little salted fish with a mournful expression opened his eyes and looked at the burning door of Room 405 with a glimmer of sadness in his eyes.

This method would burn down his precious house. He wouldn’t use it unless there’s no other way.

Zhu Shuangshuang said, “You come down quickly.”

The little boy’s feet moved slightly, and he fell straight down, hitting another little boy.

Gui Sheng, who was almost flattened, said, “Huh?”

Zhu Shuangshuang: “...”

She rubbed her tired temples and looked out the window. “Will they give up tonight?”

“They probably won’t,” Meng Jiang said.

The monster children were extremely afraid of fire. Fire did stop them, but it also completely enraged them.

Under the dual anger of destroying their friends and provoking them with fire, these monster children became even more terrifying.

The increasingly heavy “woohoo” and the shaking of the castle from being smashed were proof.

As soon as Meng Jiang finished speaking, there was a crisp “crack” sound coming from upstairs.

That was the sound of glass shattering.

The five players opened their eyes at the same time.

“Is it the fifth floor? Did they enter the fifth floor?”

“Anger really makes them crazier and stronger...”

After the sound of glass breaking, there were screams of panic from the players, banging sounds, and vibrations, a chaotic combination of various sounds that couldn’t be clearly distinguished.

Suddenly, Ning Su’s eyelashes twitched, and he looked up at the roof of the corridor in front of him.

Above the corridor, there were perfectly round holes, and the circular roofs fell, causing the monsters that had just rushed into the fifth-floor corridor to fall densely into the fourth-floor corridor.

That moment turned into slow motion.

The four players in front of the arched window widened their eyes in horror, then opened their mouths and screamed in panic, rushing over.

The angry monster children that fell down from the fifth floor slowly showed an excited, abnormal smile on their faces, and their purple-black eyes widened.

One by one, they stretched out their straight, sticky, purple hands towards the ghost friends on the ground.

Ning Su turned over in an instant, quickly grabbed the corner of the blanket, and threw it backward. The four ghost friends cried in panic on the flying carpet.

One more to go.

Ning Su looked back in amazement and saw a crying little green clay doll running towards Ban Zhong.

Hundreds of falling monster children fell directly towards it.

Ban Zhong, who was by the window, fell straight to the ground and turned into a flattened meat paste when he hit the ground.

Blood spurted out of the shattered parts.

[Player Ban Zhong’s ghost friend was destroyed.]

[Player Ban Zhong has died.]
