Chapter 10: Precaution

Even Ye Yang was surprised by how sharp Huang Xudong’s instincts were. It was hard to deny that the man’s deduction was very close to the truth.

However, their collaboration was already set in stone so Huang Ruobing wouldn’t possibly tell Huang Xudong the truth.

“No,” Huang Ruobing answered resolutely, denying her little brother’s skepticism without an ounce of hesitation.

Still, Huang Xudong’s instincts were mysteriously on point. However, Huang Ruobing’s current concern wasn’t this. Instead, it was what Ye Yang had told her at the restaurant.

Prior to this, Huang Ruobing would hardly get a chance to ask her brother about this. So now, she took the opportunity to ask the question that had been bugging her mind, “Did you get into some trouble while doing business lately?”

Although Huang Ruobing basically trusted Ye Yang’s information, implications were still necessary for an interrogation session.

Huang Xudong was caught off guard by this question but he managed to return to his senses quickly. “With you supporting me, how could I run into any trouble? Sis, are you really in a relationship with him?”

Huang Xudong was still trying to divert the topic back to Ye Yang, evidently suspicious of their relationship.

“Why would I lie to you about something like this?” Huang Ruobing felt slightly helpless. Who knew that Huang Xudong had such a sensitive intuition?

Huang Ruobing got up and walked over to Ye Yang. She gently held his hand before sitting on his lap and grinning at Huang Xudong. “What? Do we have to be so lovey-dovey right in front of you for you to believe this is true?”

Although Huang Ruobing’s sudden intimate move startled Ye Yang, he quickly came to and snaked an arm around her waist, all while wearing a faint smile on his face.

“Alright, alright. I believe you, okay?” Seeing Huang Ruobing sit on a man’s lap was an uncomfortable sight to Huang Xudong.

Although this wasn’t his first time seeing such a thing, if the main characters involved his older sister, Huang Xudong found this hard to accept.

While the two were behaving so intimately with each other, for some reason, Huang Xudong still couldn’t accept the legitimacy of their relationship.

However, Huang Ruobing wasn’t in the mood to debate about this topic. She was more interested in what Ye Yang had told her. If she had to be honest, she never expected Huang Xudong to have the audacity to do such a thing.

Ye Yang had basically told her everything there was to know which led Huang Ruobing to believe that before the problems escalated, Huang Xudong could avoid walking into the trap.

“You should refrain from doing things like threatening people from now on,” said Huang Ruobing directly after deciding to stop beating around the bush. If she waited for Huang Xudong to come clean on his own accord, things might be too late by then.

Huang Xudong was surprised by Huang Ruobing’s directness. All these years, he had been keeping it well-hidden and not many people knew of this. Hence, her words caught him off guard, puzzling him.

In his befuddled state, Huang Xudong forgot about maintaining his cover and simply blurted out, “Sis, who told you this? I’m going to kill him!”

Then, he suddenly realized what he had said. Using his quick wits, Huang Xudong added, “How could I possibly do such a thing? Who is trying to defame me? I’m going to kill him!”

However, it wasn’t like Huang Ruobing could be fooled so easily. Without saying anything, she merely stood still and stared at Huang Xudong.

Eventually, Huang Xudong couldn’t take it anymore. He was aware by now that his sister had pretty much found out about the truth so he smiled sheepishly at Huang Ruobing and asked, “Sis, you already know, don’t you?”

Huang Ruobing smirked. “Since you have the audacity to do something like this behind my back, is it really weird that I found out?”

If Ye Yang hadn’t told her about this, Huang Ruobing might still be oblivious to all this.

As Huang Ruobing looked at her little brother, she sighed softly. In her mind, she made a mental note to herself that Ye Yang’s favor must be returned in due time. If something ever happened to her brother while he was under her care, as an older sister, Huang Ruobing would never forgive herself.

“Alright, Sis. I know what you mean. Don’t worry,” Huang Xudong comforted Huang Ruobing gently when he saw how furious she had become.

Still, he couldn’t help but feel curious so Huang Xudong asked, “But Sis, it’s impossible for something like this to be known by anyone, so how did you come to know of it? At least I can prepare myself.”

Huang Ruobing shot an indignant glance at her brother before shifting her gaze to Ye Yang.

Following Huang Ruobing’s line of sight, Huang Xudong was dumbstruck. Obviously, he hadn’t anticipated that Ye Yang would turn out to be the one who disclosed the information.

How was this possible?

Huang Xudong was mildly skeptical as he stared at Ye Yang. Prior to this, he had never even heard of Ye Yang’s name before so Huang Xudong knew nothing about him, explaining the suspicion in his eyes.

“You can stop guessing. He’s the one who told me about it,” Huang Ruobing confirmed after seeing the look of incredulity on her brother’s face.

Huang Xudong looked at Ye Yang again. Admittedly, he was very curious about this man and wondered how Ye Yang managed to find out about his secret.

What followed was a deep sense of precaution against Ye Yang.

The man had appeared out of nowhere like a phantom and became his sister’s boyfriend. He also told her everything about what Huang Xudong had been doing in the dark. No matter how Huang Xudong thought about it, this was way too abnormal.

Huang Xudong wouldn’t buy it if a person like him didn’t have an ulterior goal in mind.
