Chapter 19: Negotiated

Upon hearing Ruan Wenxiong’s guarantee, a smile graced Ye Yang’s lips. Ruan Wenxiong was an intelligent man so he should know which choice was the most sensible to make. Judging by his decision, Ye Yang knew that Ruan Wenxiong would give Huang Ruobing no further trouble.

“Then I’ll have to trouble President Ruan to arrange for someone to send me back. President Huang is waiting for my return after all.”

After getting his desired response, Ye Yang decided not to linger around here any longer. His phone was dead, so Huang Ruobing must be worried to death after seeing the headlines.

His words sounded like a chorus of angels to Ruan Wenxiong. The man immediately made the necessary arrangements for Ye Yang to be safely sent back to Huang Ruobing.

Huang Ruobing was surprised when she saw Ye Yang again. Upon becoming aware of the car accident, she had been trying to call him several times, but they all went unanswered. It was natural for her to assume that Ye Yang was dead.

But now that Ye Yang was standing before her, alive and well, Huang Ruobing couldn’t help but feel relieved.

“You’re okay, you’re really okay!” She began examining Ye Yang all over as she spoke. Once she was sure that Ye Yang wasn’t hurt, Huang Ruobing finally regained her composure.

Admittedly, Huang Ruobing had been feeling down because of the accident. After making sure there wasn’t even a scratch on Ye Yang’s body, she was extremely relieved. However, since she wasn’t the type of person to get close to someone, other than superficial intimacy, this couple lacked a deeper, more visceral sort of connection.

In truth, neither was Ye Yang used to something like this. But upon seeing how flustered Huang Ruobing was, he realized that she had really been very worried about him so his tone became much more mellow. “Don’t worry, I’m really okay.”

Huang Ruobing finally calmed down. “How did you escape?”

After viewing the surveillance footage countless times, she was sure that Ye Yang was dead. Yet, the man was standing before him without so much as a scratch on his body.

A hint of curiosity was mingled in Huang Ruobing’s excited expression.

“I already knew that he’d make a move on me.” Ye Yang didn’t know how to explain his survival. To many people, his experience was like a pie in the sky so Ye Yang wasn’t sure how to make it sound remotely believable.

“I don’t know how to explain it either, so just assume that I have superpowers.” Ye Yang was a little embarrassed but there was no better explanation he could give. His secret would serve as a nail to his coffin for many. If someone with ill intentions found out about his condition, it would bring about nothing but trouble to him.

Huang Ruobing wanted to press the matter, but when she recalled how Ye Yang managed to grasp her secrets unwittingly, she calmed herself down. In this world, who didn’t have their own secrets?

“I’ve confirmed it with He Dong. He was the one behind this.” Huang Ruobing swiftly changed the subject when she saw how reluctant Ye Yang was when explaining how he escaped the crash.

Ye Yang raised his eyebrows at her, surprised by how swift she was.

“I’m not surprised, but it was a shame to lose that car.” The car Huang Ruobing arranged for him was indeed a nice, expensive vehicle, but for the sake of avoiding unnecessary attention, he had no other choice but to abandon the car.

Still, it was something Huang Ruobing had lent to him.

“That’s okay. What’s important is that you’re still alive,” Huang Ruobing didn’t care about that. For Ye Yang to be able to survive a disastrous ordeal was good enough news for her.

Just then, Huang Ruobing’s phone rang. It was a call from Ruan Wenxiong. Puzzled, she answered the call nonetheless.

“President Huang, sorry for the trouble but I’m calling to ask if it would be alright to continue our collaboration.”

Huang Ruobing was perplexed. She didn’t understand why Ruan Wenxiong was saying this, but before she could speak, the man added, “I’ve already emailed you the new contract, you can take a look at it first.”

The call ended with Huang Ruobing being confused. She opened up her inbox and sure enough, there was a proposal waiting for her.

Huang Ruobing was stunned when she opened up the proposal.

“What is it?” Ye Yang smiled faintly at her.

Surprised by Ruan Wenxiong’s action, Huang Ruobing took a deep breath and reorganized her thoughts before answering, “Ruan Wenxiong gave us a bigger portion of profits for our renewed collaboration.”

Ye Yang was wearing a confident expression. “Since he breached the contract, it’s only natural for him to sacrifice a bit more. Take the offer.”

Huang Ruobing wasn’t an idiot. She stared fixedly at Ye Yang and asked, “How did you manage to persuade him?”

When Ye Yang left, Huang Ruobing assumed that he was merely trying to console her. She never expected him to truly solve the situation. Hence, a surge of warmth welled up in her heart.

Huang Ruobing was no fool. She knew that Ye Yang must have sacrificed something to make Ruan Wenxiong change his mind, and he did it without damaging the company in the process. She was also surprised by how Ye Yang insisted on going over to Ruan Wenxiong’s company to persuade the man despite barely evading a fatal car crash.

Huang Ruobing was a beautiful woman. All her life, there had been tons of people who showed her excessive attention and this was where she learned how to differentiate between insincerity and genuine care. For this reason, Huang Ruobing felt touched by Ye Yang’s actions.

After Ye Yang returned, he didn’t boast about how many sacrifices he made to secure the proposal. Instead, like everyone else, he was happy for her for receiving such great news.

Being a sensible person, no matter what Ye Yang’s goal was, there was no denying that the man had helped her out. Hence, he deserved her gratitude.

Huang Ruobing stared at Ye Yang for the longest time before saying, “Thank you.”

Ye Yang could feel her fondness of him so he wore a kinder expression and replied, “It’s nothing. Whatever I’ve promised you, I would do it. If you really want to thank me, how about treating me to dinner tonight?”

Huang Ruobing nodded with a smile. She could tell that he wasn’t used to this either.
