Chapter 40: Crisis

Huang Ruobing had been serious about what she said. However, she had faith in Ye Yang’s character so after hearing his response, she eased up a little.

It was then that Ye Yang noticed that the pile of documents on Huang Ruobing’s table had actually grown larger instead of shrinking. There were also dark circles below Huang Ruobing’s eyes.

Although she appeared just as exquisite, it was clear that she had been neglecting rest for the past couple of days.

“Are you not resting well lately?” There was a hint of helplessness in Ye Yang’s eyes as he looked at Huang Ruobing. He had taken action and solved quite a few problems for her. Huang Ruobing should have been able to kick back and relax for now.

However, it seemed like she had been working overtime.

Seeing how earnest Huang Ruobing was, Ye Yang sighed. “With me here, you should at least have some time to sleep, don’t you?”

Huang Ruobing shook her head. “It’s best for us to be prepared before things go down south. Otherwise, it’d be disastrous if something happens and we’re still standing here, passive and unprepared.”

Ye Yang refused to comment on this nor did he try to discourage her enthusiasm.

However, for the next two days, things only became worse. Without warning, Ye Wenxuan intensified his attacks on Huang Ruobing’s company. With so many years of experience in the corporate world, Ye Wenxuan’s tactics were flawless. Many larger companies had joined in the attack as well. If they were to announce that none of this was pre-planned, Ye Yang wouldn’t believe it.

Ye Yang clearly hadn’t anticipated Ye Wenxuan would have the nerve. Despite knowing that Ye Yang had leverage over him, the man was still trying to take Huang Ruobing down.

And yet, Huang Ruobing didn’t seem furious. It was like she had anticipated this to happen.

As Ye Yang looked at the piled-up documents before Huang Ruobing and listened as her secretary reported the latest updates one by one. The longer he remained there, listening to the reports, the darker his expression grew.

When Huang Ruobing saw how grim Ye Yang seemed, she comforted him instead, “It was inevitable that something like this would happen. Ye Wenxuan isn’t a forgiving person, he would never just let it go that easily.”

Indeed, Ye Wenxuan hardly allowed himself to lose. That previous incident was humiliating for him. Not only had Ye Yang seized evidence of Ye Wenxuan’s past doings, but he had also used his son to get a promissory note worth over a hundred million, and he took over Phoenix Villa in the end, to add insult to injury. It was not unforeseeable that Ye Wenxuan would get pissed over this.

Hence, Ye Wenxuan had been waiting for the chance to exact revenge. He would wait until they let down their guards before launching an attack. However, Huang Ruobing had been aware of Ye Wenxuan’s plan and anticipated this surprise attack.

For this reason, she never let her guard down.

Huang Ruobing didn’t seem anxious at all. Her conversation with Ye Yang sounded like it was merely a discussion of what they would have for tea. Noticing how unyielding Huang Ruobing was, Ye Yang felt nothing but admiration for her.

Ye Yang was feeling helpless as well. He Dong was acting like a mad dog and seemed insistent on continuing the struggle until one of them caved in. Something like this wouldn’t happen only once, and Ye Yang couldn’t be sure if Huang Ruobing’s health will hold if this kept up.

“I’ve dragged you down,” Ye Yang said and pursed his lips.

Huang Ruobing shook her head to deny it. “That’s nonsense. I’m an adult capable of coming up with my own thoughts. Since I’ve accepted your suggestion, I’ve considered the consequences. Facing a man like him… I really can’t be bothered.”

As Ye Yang looked at her and found an alluring charm in her being. While he knew that it was too late for any salvation, as someone who was partially involved in the fight, Ye Yang was still infuriated.

Being the subject of this issue, it was surprising how Huang Ruobing didn’t seem irked at all. An idea popped up in Ye Yang’s mind and he proposed, “Why don’t I get Tian Huayu to help?”

Huang Ruobing immediately stopped him. “It’s useless.”

Sure enough, after that incident, Tian Huayu immediately around and stabbed them in the back. Only, Huang Ruobing wasn’t surprised by this at all.

Ye Yang watched as Huang Ruobing took a proposal dossier from her desk and handed it to her secretary. “Tell the representative of this project that the work will be on hold for now.”

“President Huang, this proposal…”

“I know what you want to say, but we really can’t afford to pay for the capital for now. So whatever that still can be stopped, needs to be stopped.”

Huang Ruobing was firm and decisive.

The secretary said nothing more. In fact, many of the company’s staff could already feel the weight of the crisis. Some of the staff were even fearful. No doubt, there will be a wave of resignations from the staff.

The secretary seemed hesitant as she looked at Huang Ruobing. However, Huang Ruobing was determined and didn’t plan to cover up the damage with petty tricks.

And so, the company staff became a little more restless.

Most of the time, Ye Yang enjoyed staying at Huang Ruobing’s office to watch her as she worked. He knew that Huang Ruobing was an excellent individual who could still come up with sharp decisions under pressure.

Even Ye Yang couldn’t guarantee that he could deal with the situation any better than Huang Ruobing.

To be sure, Huang Ruobing had an ambitiousness that matched her talent. She also had a determination no man possessed. Ye Yang could tell that if the canceled proposals were to carry on under normal circumstances, their finances would still be under strain.

Hence, to put them on hold was a wise choice.

Ye Yang had been observing Huang Ruobing. She was currently like a spinning top, constantly keeping herself busy regardless of time and cost. Although the company was in a tough situation, Huang Ruobing managed to keep it afloat.

Huang Ruobing was no doubt excellent. However, in such situations, many remembered her as a woman rather than a female CEO. Hence, whenever they talked to her, the discrimination was still there despite the respectful expressions they wore.

Huang Ruobing was also trying to prove herself at this moment.
