Scarlet's Awakening

Chapter 10 - Who's that?

Looking at the adorable face of his Master, Anselme wondered, "Your majesty, may I inquire why you turned yourself into a child?"

The little Lord scowled. "I didn't transformed myself, Anselme. Most of my powers has been passed to my wife thus my shrunken condition. I'll turn back once I recover my magic again."

"I understand."

The boy looked at his clothes, "They don't fit me anymore ..." he murmured.

With a simple flick of his wrist the oversized robe resized itself until it matched his body perfectly as it used to. Afterwards, his presence turned serious. "Hear my command,"

"Yes, your Majesty!" Anselme knelt on one leg and his people accompanied his actions in unison. They all put their clenched fists close their c.h.e.s.ts, a way of saluting their master.

"Go back to the palace without me. I shall leave this place after my Fated One wakes up."

No one questioned his orders.

"We will obey!" the warriors said, bowing their heads in together as a symbol that they will follow his commands.

"Anselme, remain with me."

"As you wish, your majesty."

Minutes later...

Scarlet woke up with a strange sensation that someone was looking at her. She wiped her eyes while she blinked a few times to sharpen her blurred vision.

Once Scarlet was able to see clearly again, the first thing she saw was a little boy. His pretty little head leaned peacefully on his hand, examining her face closely with his dark oceanic eyes.

"W-Who..."

"You're up," The little boy cut her off.

She gaped the arrogant behavior of the little boy, wondering where this c.o.c.ky brat came from? And where did the handsome man sleeping inside this cave go?

"You've been sleeping for almost two hours. I thought you were going to asleep there forever." he said.

"Two hours?" she exclaimed.

Scarlet g.r.o.a.n.e.d, holding her head in disbelief.

"Umm uhhh. Do you know where I am?" she asked eventually.

"You're in the deepest part of the other dimension. You're in the 3rd layer to be precise." he answered.

"The other dimension?" Scarlet was surprised. She thought she was in her Dimensional Storage Room!

"How did I get here?" she mumbled.

The little boy must've thought that it was a question for him because he answered, "I can't answer that question for you. I just know that you got yourself here, and this is the first time I've seen someone like you who has the guts to come here. Teleportation magic doesn't work here. If you want to leave this place, you have to go to the 1st level."

Scarlet suddenly remembered Eireen's words. She told her that if an outsider tries to enter her dimensional storage room, they'll be tossed out into the other dimension. Is this it then? Scarlet couldn't comprehend why her own Dimensional Storage Room would consider her as an intruder? Did she do something wrong? There gotta be an explanation for this.

"Umm, may I ask?" she asked. He seems to know a lot about the other side, even though he is still so young. She doesn't want to be trapped in here for long. Perhaps he could help her get the hell out of this place.

"Do you know how to get to the first layer?" she asked.

"Yeah, I know how." he answered after a moment of hesitation.

Scarlet's eyes immediately lit up in an obvious glee.

"Can you lead the way? I'm going to reward you, so don't worry. I might not look like much but I'm a queen. I can give you what you want. I'm going to give you one wish." Without her noticing, the corner of the little boy's mouth hoisted up in a mysterious smile.

"Very well. I'm going to take you out of here in exchange for a wish."

Scarlet clapped her hands together and buried the little boy inside her embrace. "Thank you so much!"

The little boy blushed inside Scarlet's arms. This is the first time someone hugged him out of happiness, in fact, this is the first time he let someone hug him without getting angry. He should get used to this.

"By the way, what's your name?" Scarlet asked.

"You want to know my name?" the boy asked, hesitating.

Scarlet chuckled, "Of course! I can't call you 'Hey you!' or 'Hey kid!' all the time. It's awkward. And besides, I bet your parents gave you a great name. Looking at your adorable little face your parents must've given you a name that's as adorable as you." she said, waiting patiently.

Finally, the boy opened his mouth.

"Jasper... My name is Jasper." he said.

"That's a nice name." she said, looking intriguingly at the adorable little boy. "Tell me Jasper, how did you get here in this cave in the first place?"

The little boy scowled, recalling something irritating.

"An old witch locked me here."

Scarlet's face turned serious. An old witch? How heartless can this person be that she would imprison a weak little boy in this cave? He's such a cute and adorable little kid! What wrong can he do?

"Have you done anything to offend her?" she questioned. Curious about the witch's intention to imprison him while Jasper, on the other hand, was frowning in dissatisfaction.

What is this? Shouldn't his Fated One take his side and talk ill of that old witch instead of questioning him?

Scarlet saw that Jasper didn't want to answer her query, so she let it go. Maybe it's a embarrassing matter for him to share, so he's going to keep his peace.

"By the way, did you see a handsome man sleeping here at this altar?" she asked all of a sudden. "He wears a crimson robe like yours... and he also has the same blue diamond on his forehead as you do."

Jasper rubbed the gem on his forehead as the corner of his mouth twisted into a grin. He noticed that Scarlet was staring at him, so he cleared his throat and responded. "I didn't see anyone," he said, impassively.

Scarlet suddenly felt dejected.

"Ah..."

Deep down, Scarlet wanted to see the man's face again. You don't see a beautiful man like him every day, and now he's gone. Will she ever meet him again?

In the meantime, hiding in the shadows, Anselme almost had a heart attacl when he saw his little Lord grinning-slash-smiling twice because of his wife. He has been working by his Lord's side and never... did he ever smiled. Not even once in front of his royal mother who loved and cared for him all her heart.

But his master was different in front of his wife. His face was believed by many to have been made of stone and ice. But now that he's smiling, particularly in front of his wife. The assumption that his face is made of stone and ice must have been false.

At this time, the saddened Scarlet noticed her reflection on the glassy surface of the altar.

"Who's that?" she asked, pointing to her own image on the glass.
