Scarlet's Awakening

Chapter 8 - Lost in the Other Dimension

Eigeel shifted his attention from the papers up to his recently arrived twin sister who was sporting a dark expression on her face when she arrived at the study.

Eigeel dismissed his sister's foul mood and gestured for her to sit on the chair in front of his desk.

Eigeel's desk was full of papers carefully stacked in a systematic and organized manner.

Eireen knows that the person who arranged those paperworks was her brother's secretary, Katerina, one of the castle's seven elite combat maids.

"You called for me, brother?"

Eigeel heard the iciness in Eireen's voice. Knowing his sister for nearly a millennium, her indignation towards him was very clear. She's upset, and Eigeel already knows the reason why.

Eireen sat on the chair with forced, making the poor chair squeak. "Please, make it quick. I still have to get back to her majesty's side." She said, crossing her arms in front of her c.h.e.s.t.

Witnessing his sister's impudent behavior, his mouth turned into an inverted v. He looked at the poor chair on which his sister sat. Good thing the chair was made of high quality wood that could withstand a lot of strength or it would have been torn apart into bits!

Not dwelling his thoughts on the chair much longer, Eigeel cleared his throat. "I received a report from Katrina. The rebel forces are finally moving and are preparing to attack Donatel in two days. Marcemus and Teofolos will be leading charge."

"Aren't they the famous centaur brothers?" asked Eireen, half surprised, half worried. "Did you tell Silver about this?"

Eigeel nodded, "I did. I went to her domain with the intent of notifying her regarding the queen's d.e.s.i.r.e to meet the Scarlet Order and the movement of rebel forces."

"And what did she say?" Eireen asked, panic rising inside her c.h.e.s.t as she's awaits her brother's reply.

"She is trying to deal with an important matter in her pack at the moment so she can't deal with the rebel forces herself."

Eireen furiously stood up from her chair, "That lazy assed bitch! Don't worry brother, I'm going to drag her here if I have to. Consider the problem solved."

"Language, Eireen." Eigeel scolded her. "And don't leave. I already accepted her... *ehem* excuse."

Eireen frowned, trying to reign her disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e while gritting her teeth. Her blue eyes suspiciously narrowed into slits as she look at her brother's emotionless face. "Why did you accept it? Silver is the best in handling matters such as this. Why didn't you try to convince her more?"

Eigeel sighed, remembering the shock on Silver's face when he accepted her excuse to work.

"I choose to accept her excuse for a reason, Eireen."

"Why? When it comes to combat, I'm not comparable to her. If you want to destroy the whole rebel army, she can easily do it for you. I will even go for you and convince her myself."

Eireen was about to stand up to find Silver and convince her to do it but Eigeel stopped her.

"Eireen, no."

"B-But...."

"No." Eigeel firmly said, "You will not convince Silver and you will not leave the study unless you accept the task yourself."

"What? Brother, I'm not the right person for this task. How about Aqua?"

"Drunk."

"Levin?"

"Can't handle the sun."

"Talon?"

"He's a shadow guard, Eireen."

"Uhhh... How about Red?"

Eigeel gave his sister a blank look, "No, I'm not going to send Red and his asleep. Are you done making excuses now?"

Eireen pouted and started to w.h.i.n.e, "But why me?"

"Because you're my sister!" Eigeel slammed his hands on the table. "I'm doing this so that you can stop hiding behind my shadow."

Eireen frowned. "But I wanted to stay behind your shadow!"

The temperature in the study went down a couple of degrees. It made Eireen shiver. She bit her lower lip to seal her mouth. She knew... she pushed her brother too far.

"I don't care about your excuses, Eireen. I want it done and I don't want this to reach the queen ears, do you understand me?" Eigeel's voice boomed inside the study, delivering his words with absolute finality. Eireen knows that he's reigning his anger inside and when it blows, it'll be bad, especially for her.

Sighing deeply, Eireen finally nodding her head, "Understood."

When the mood inside the study was getting back to normal, Eigeel and Eireen suddenly felt a strong magical energy surge passing them by. The aura in that surge was similar to Scarlet's aura.

Eigeel recognized it immediately and he teleported himself inside Scarlet's room. Eireen knew where he teleported to so she immediately followed him.

Eigeel arrived first and Eireen followed, they scanned the room but Scarlet was nowhere to be seen! Eigeel's heart started to pound in panic. A shadow emerged behind Eigeel and a man clad in a black robes with two samurai swords crossed behind his back appeared.

Feeling the man's presence, Eigeel didn't turn to look at him.

"Where... is she?" angrily, Eigeel hissed at the new arrival.

The man in black is Scarlet's shadow guard, Talon. Also a member of the Scarlet Order.

Talon can feel the suppressing aura Eigeel was emitting from his body but he was strong enough to endure it while answering his angry question.

"I've been searching for her when I felt her presence disappear in this room. I still don't know her whereabouts."

"When did this happen?"

"For a while..."

Eigeel felt like snapping Talon's neck like a twig when he heard his answer.

"I can't track her down." Eireen's voice interjected, her eyes closed and her brows furrowed in concentration. "The Queen is not in her Dimensional Storage Room either. I also can't contact her via telepathy."

Hearing his sister's report, Eigeel snapped, "Why didn't you inform us immediately!" he shouted at the shadow guard.

Talon went down on his kneel and sincerely bowed his head to the floor.

"I have no excuses for my mistake, Prime Minister. I have commited a great sin. Please punish me on behalf of her majesty."

Eigeel's eyes was burning in rage but he didn't punish Talon. Only the Queen has the right to punish him so he just turned his head away in anger.

"I can not believe you can do such a big mistake! The queen just woke up from her sleep. Her powers haven't recovered yet. She can't protect herself in her current state. What are we going to do if we lose her!"

Talon didn't reply but fear crept inside his heart when he heard Eigeels final sentence.

Opening her eyes, Eireen was done performing a magic spell called 'search'.

Eireen looked at her brother with worry. "Brother, what is our next course of action? We can't just let this matter go. We have to find the queen."

Eigeel didn't reply. Instead, he waved his hand in the air, golden dust coming out of it hands, spreading out all over the place.

Eigeel closed his eyes and concentrated. The dust started to move and slowly formed a silhouette of a girl that was standing in front of a portal. The golden silhouette portrayed what happened until the golden girl got s.u.c.k.e.d inside the portal herself.

Watching the dust portraying what happened, Eireen gasped. "No... Don't tell me she got transported into a different dimension?"

Hearing his sister's words, Eigeel's eyes snapped open and the dust around the room dissipated and disappeared.

"I'm going after her."

"Wait, Brother. Let me come with you."

Eigeel nodded in approval.

"Katrina!" he called out.

A maid appeared immediately in front of Eigeel using teleportation magic. Kneeling solemnly on the floor, Katrina greeted the 3 members of the order present inside the room.

"My Lord, you called for me?"

"Yes. Bring Silver here. Tell her the Queen is in danger."

"Understood." and then she disappeared as fast as she appeared before them.

Eigeel glared at Talon who was still kneeling on the ground, awaiting his punishment. "I don't have the power to punish you and her majesty's safety comes first. After we save her, your judgement will follow."
