Scythe, Sword And Steel

Chapter 36 - Father's Gift

"Gusion, Lesley, Layla, Mr. Yi, Claude, and you Clint, come with me." Rooney said. "The rest of you stay here."

"H-Hey what about us?" Alucard asked.

"4G, third room."

"What the hell are we supposed to..."

"There are tons of champagne there."

"Oh okay cool!"

Rooney led them to the third floor. They used the elevator to get there. They were still confused with Rooney's plan.

"Doctor, what is your plan this time?" Yi asked.

"It's something important I have to show, especially to Layla."

"What is it about Doctor?" Layla asked.

"I'll show you later."

Meanwhile, in the 2nd underground floor...

"Hey! I'm coming with you boys." Ruby said.

"U-Uhm... Ruby, you're only 16, and..."

"Doesn't matter. I've been drinking alcohol since I was 13."

"What?" Roger said. "You drink?!"

"Yeah."

The guys were looking strangely at Ruby, as she had a smirk on her face. Her attitude and voice changed. And so, they went to the elevator to go down.

"4G, third room..." Granger said.

"Yeah!" Harith replied.

All of a sudden, Alucard pushed Harith out of the elevator, he fell on the carpet on the floor.

"H-Hey! What are you..."

"No kids allowed." Alucard said. "I'm sorry."

"H-Hey!"

The elevator door had already shut, and Harith was left alone in the second underground floor. He decided to just chill in the Library.

Rooney and the others headed straight to the topmost floor, which was a giant storage room for blueprints, and materials, and also a workshop for construction. Rooney started throwing blueprints on the floor.

"Doctor? What are you search..."

"Aha! Found it!" Rooney said.

He held up a giant blueprint in his hand. It was a plan for a giant floating airship. On the top, there was the signature of Layla's father "Armstrong Malefic."

"F-Father? My father made this..." Layla said, who knelt down on the ground.

"I was an old friend of your father Layla." Rooney said.

Layla started to have tears on her eyes. She would remember the day her mother was killed, and the day she last saw her father. Ever since, she has been finding her father since the incident 3 years ago.

Armstrong, Layla's father, was obsessed with getting a powerful stone from the Southern Abyss. He traveled recklessly, thinking all about the power it would bring him. When he finally got his hands on the stone, he immediately brought it back home, thinking what he should do with it. Little did he realize, there were monsters in the Abyss, able to locate the stone.

The monsters invaded Eruditio, and ambushed their house. Layla's mother was killed, while his father left the city of Scholars a long time. Layla grabbed her father's Malefic Gun, named after their surname. She killed all the monsters, and brought peace back to Eruditio. She traveled everywhere to search her father, ending up in the Moniyan Empire, to become a hero.

Clint went near her to wipe down her tears and comfort her.

"It's okay Layla. It's gonna be okay." Clint said.

After she stopped. Rooney began listing down all the materials he would need to create the airship. He calculated all measurements, including how the invention works. The blueprint was originally created by Layla's father, to travel all over the Land of Dawn, and unfortunately, it didn't happen because of the Malefic Gun. It was called, the Angel Ark.

"The Angel Ark is in the hangar downstairs, but it's broken."

"Then let's repair it. If we want to travel across the Land of Dawn, then we should do everything it takes." Yi said.

"You're right, but it won't be easy."

They used the elevator to go to the first floor, then they went outside of the building. They went to the giant hangar behind Laboratory 3116. As Rooney and the others went inside, they saw the giant Angel Ark, rusty, broken and old. Rooney opened the lights to be able to inspect it. There, he listed all the broken parts of the airship on his notebook, as the heroes helped him investigate. After an hour of hard work, they finally finished.

"So, we're going to need lots and lots of materials. We're gonna need tons of metal and wood, a giant rope of wires, a working steam generator and a jet engine." Rooney said.

"But, where the hell are we gonna get all these materials?" Gusion asked.

"There's a giant warehouse an hour away from here." Hayabusa said, who had parked his motorcycle beside the hangar. "It has all of those parts, except we're gonna need a truck to get all those junk."

"Great! I'm going to send you heroes there. It's dangerous in this city, especially there are lots of raiders because of the Purge."

"What are you gonna do then?"

"I'll build the Angel Ark myself! With some help of course..."
