Chapter 25

“We gave you generously every season, so why don’t you have enough money?”

“Didn’t I even give you the ledger? There are only three kids who came in this winter! three! It even comes with a baby sucker, so I’m going to have to find a nanny.”

As Cesare protested, Isabelle raised her voice and approached him. In the end, Isabelle even banged his desk. She looked like a very angry poodle. Cesare was not intimidated by her, but he looked very tired.

“I cannot continue to support you. This is some kind of personal support, not public support. You should not continue like this.”

While saying that, Cesare opened the drawer and gave the mother money from the drawer.

Isabelle’s expression brightened in an instant. Isabelle poked the child’s side with her elbow. As if in pain, the child bit his lip and bowed deeply.

“Thank you, thank you so much! May the blessings of the goddess be with the lord!”

I was caught up in the urge to jump out of my veil and whatever.

“How much money do you need?”

“This time I have three children and one still needs to drink milk.”

That’s a lie! All she said was a lie! Until three days ago, I knew all the rumors about the village I lived in, so I could tell that it was a lie.

But if you raise your voice recklessly, you will be detected.

The risk was great. I picked up the paper and played with the pen at high speed. Before Isabelle could get the money, I had to somehow reveal the truth.

‘It’s all over! ‘

As soon as I finished writing, I crumpled up the paper and threw it at Cesare. A round crumpled paper hit Cesare’s head and fell. Cesare, who was taking money out of her wallet, turned her head to that position and looked at me from behind the screen.

“What is this… what are you doing?”

To be honest, I was a little scared. The warm atmosphere from before had disappeared, and Cesare, who had been hit in the head during business hours, was glaring at me through the screen board.

I don’t want Isabelle to recognise me, so with a hoarse voice as much as possible, I said to Cesare.

“That’s the document you asked for earlier.”

“What documents do I…”

Fortunately, Cesare was quicker to understand it than expected. Instead of asking more about my mistake, He opened the crumpled paper.

What I wrote was simple.

[He’s not Isabelle’s real son!]

I don’t know how much Cesare will believe me. Because even now, it seems that he distrust me the most. But I also have a personal grudge at Isabelle — I couldn’t just sit and watch the money being stolen.
