Chapter 7 - Calm before the War

--- The Dermatros Kingdom's Castle ---

-Inside the throne room-

IV. Alex Gon Clay was sitting on his throne while looking at the delegates he sent to the Dragnof Kingdom.

"You shall dismiss," he said with disappointment. 'Bunch of idiots, can't even do a simple thing,' he thought. 'That girl is an inexperienced Queen. We still have a chance to conquer Dragnof. And I am sure dragons are not gonna be part of this war. What will you do if you precious Belserion won't participate in this war?' he thought sinisterly. "Brink Rung here!" he yelled to his servants.

After a while later, there is a middle-aged man with long, dark hair, droopy eyes, and a small goatee kneeled to the king.

"Rung, it seems our plan to take over Dragnof has failed," said the king. "I know you wanted that girl, and as amusing it seems; I cannot let you have him any legal way. So when we won the war you can do whatever you want with her, my son" the king said.

Rung was one of the princes of the Dermatros Kingdom but after he showed his abilities of military tactics, leadership and sword skills. He promoted to the General.

"Now, prepare for the war! We have a kingdom to conquer!" he said.

"Yes, your majesty," said Rung with no emotion in his voice. 'It can't be so bad, I guess. I was planing woo her slowly after our political marriage, but as long as I have her, it's okay,' he thought. then he walked away.

When he went to garrison he said to his Strategist "Prepare for the war. I want these folks ready as soon as possible!" he yelled. "We have a country to raid," he said.

'On the western side, dragons started their mini-wars. Soon, there is a big war coming. We would've married via political marriage and work together with a happy family, but you have to pick that man. I'm sorry but you can't blame me any longer.'

Eric was staying on his knees; his ribs, nose, lower jaw was broken with a little internal bleeding, also some of his toot was missing until Leviathæn healed them. Unfortunately for Eric, they can't heal completely with one session.

"Okay, Eric. Mind to explain why you were almost dead in your sleep?" asked Leviathæn with a scary aura.

"Okay, but can you keep this a secret a bit? I want to make a surprise for Irene, and most important enemies," he asked.

"I can't! First, you lied to me about 'I training my crimson gate ability's secret technique while your nose broke from nowhere. Now, you lying to me again. So, tell me, Eric. I may be considered whether telling her or not," she said.

"Alright," he said with a sigh. "Do you see these two swords?" Eric asked.

"Yes, I can clearly see them. One of them has a rather unique aura on it," she said with a frown.

"Yes, they are my zanpaktous. To be more specific; they are materialized form of my very soul," he said.

"And, you were about to die, because?" she asked.

"Ah, how can I say? I have to earn my right to use their powers," he said. "With a fight of course," he added while scratching his head's back.

"And one of my zanpaktou spirits is rather... how can I say? Crazy. He basically beat the shit out of me all night, and after I beat very bad 'today's dance is over as usual,' he said. Every day other than tomorrow," he concluded.

"So, you trained your Crimson Gates in the morning, trained water magic with me on the noon to evening, then you trained with your zanpaktou when you slept, am I clear?" she asked.

"Pretty much the sum up, yeah," he said with a smile.

"You are mad I can tell you that," she sighed. "Alright, you have to rest. We are going to the kingdom as soon as I healed you," she said with a stern voice.

"Ah, and here I thought I was soo close to tsunami spell," he said while pouting.

"Don't make me laugh, brat. I can smell you also miss your dear wife-to-be clearly, and you gave to rest after I healed you completely," she said.

"How can you smell that anyway? Do emotions have smells?" he asked

"Not emotions but body fluids do," she said with a frown. "Also, let me advise you something. If you want to do that again, do it a very long distance away. I don't want to hear you while you doing that dammit!" she yelled.

"O-okay, sorry," he said with a sweatdrop.

"Alright, slept. After I healed you tomorrow, we are going to the Dragnof," said Leviathæn.

----------------------------------

After serious scolding along the way, Eric finally reached to the Dragnof. Soldiers assembled every part of the wall. Dragons were staying alert.

'It seems war is close,' he thought. 'I should talk to Erine then.'

"Eric-sama, welcome back," said Sebas from nowhere. Eric was surprised and asked, "Did you know I was coming?" Sebas said with a formal tone, "No, but Berselion-sama knew you were coming, Eric-sama."

"I told Berselion, yesterday," said Leviathæn. "Our journey ends here little troublemaker. I wish you good luck," she said sincerely than she flew away.

Water dragons are forbidden to aid wars by Water Dragon King Leviathan. They can train people, but they can't attend a war.

"Alright, Sebas. Lead the way," said Eric with a smile. "Gladly," said Sebas with a bow.

- Irene's Office -

KNOCK KNOCK

"Come in," said an exhausted voice. After the door opened, and she saw a blondie, she shocked a little.

"I don't think you were not coming for a month," she said with a sweet smile.

"I just can't tolerate staying away from you any longer," he said while walking closer to her for a hug. When he is about to hug her, Irene stood up and slapped him.

SL.A.P

"Ah, so you can understand that after your 'ALMOST' dead experience?" she said with a cold voice.

He said with a scared voice, "A-aha, sweetie, you know-" and his voice cut. "Enough!" she yelled.

"I let you go for you to train! Not to kill yourself!" she yelled. "And unfortunately I can't punish you now too," she said with a frown. "Wait until the war ends," she said. "We win you punished, we lost... well, let's hope that won't happen," she said coldly. "Now, I told everything I had to so you may dismiss," she said.

"B-but-" she cut him again, "I said DISMISS."

"Yes, ma'am," he said with a sigh. 'Madara you f.u.c.ker! Wait until I beat to shit out of you.'

Three days have passed after this conversation. The Dermatros's army came to The Dragnof's border.

While the kingdom's strategist explaining the plan to them. Both country's dragons have chosen not to fight with them as King Alex thought it would be. Belserion has spoken with them via telepathy, and the other country's dragons thought this war was unnecessary so they choose to not participate. Yet, if Belserion and others attack they will attack as well, otherwise war would be one-sided, and still, this was their country. If dragons participate in the war. Casualties cannot be measured for her people, so Irene asked Belserion that he should not attend the war, even though Belserion's worry.

Irene was a little less cold to Eric since she was worrying for him. 'He deserves it, but... what if I lost him in this war?' she thought and look at Eric who next to him. 'That idiot, why he still did not apologize to me,' she narrowed her eyes. 'I can see him suffering... as always I have to take reins,' she signed. 'Why did I fell for this idiot I wonder?' she sighed again, but this one was soft and with a smile on it.

After a boring but necessary strategy meeting later.

"And this is the end of our meeting," she concluded. "You may dismiss. Special Knight Eric, you stay a little," she said with a stern voice.

After everyone left Eric and Irene left alone in the tent. After a little silent, Eric chose to broke the silence. "Y-yes, your highness?" he said with a little pain in his voice. His head was looking at the ground.

Irene just looked at him and sighed. She took her hands on his cheeks, lift his head and looked directly to his eyes. "You are a fool," she said and suddenly kissed him with passion. "I forgave you, Eric. But if you do something like that again, you have to let me and the others know," she said with a stern voice as she squeezed his cheeks with a little force. Then she added "And I decided to give you two punishments. The first and most important one is you are forbidden to die, am I clear, Sir Eric?" said Irene sternly.

Eric was frozen. 'What? What happened?' he thought and looked directly to Irene's eyes. Her eyes start to lose her pose and began to watering. 'Ah, I'm an idiot, indeed,' he concluded.

"I am sorry," he said as he lifted his hands to clear sobs on her beautiful eyes. "I humbly accept my punishment," he said with a determination and he hugged her. "But, what is the second one?" he asked.

"Do not think your second punishment, for now, Eric," said Irene. "In the end, you are still on your first punishment, are you not?" she added with a scary smile. "If you fail on this punishment; I will go to the hell, drag you out and castrates you, am I clear?" she said with a sweet sweet smile.

Eric began sweating non-stop. "Y-yes, dear. You are very clear," he said.

"Good," she said with a stern voice again. "You can go now. As much as I want you to be here, I cannot let that happen as a Queen," she said. "Now go, show them all my handsome and badass fiancé capable of," she said the last part with a smirk.

"Your wish, my order, My Queen," he said and left the tent.

The war was on the horizon and Eric is going to show them what he is capable of now.
