Sol Vestitor: New Age of God

Chapter 92: The Path of Titan

Sol brought Nerodia with him to the queen ant's body, he wanted to ask her about the ant since she knew a lot about the current world compared to him.

Honestly, if Sol wanted to ask questions, then the person who could give him every answer he seeks was Minerva, but Sol did not want to interact with the cunning and naughty Goddess in case she wanted to play with him again.

Sol put his hand on the ant's foot that looked like a giant black pillar, "what do you think of this?" he asked the girl.

"a giant ant corpse, why do you ask?" she replied with a poker face.

"It's strange, when I killed it, I got nothing from the kill, it just stops moving and that's it," he told her straight to the point.

"hmm..." Nerodia hummed and looked at the pillar-like foot and to the ground as if she could see through it.

"Do you find anything? Is this Demigod special somehow?" Sol asked when Nerodia stay silent for too long.

"Yes," She turned to look at Sol, "this is not a demigod, well I mean it is a demigod but it is also not, it's a Titan on the same level as Lesser Demigod, in another word, a Lesser Demi-titan" she explained.

It stunned Sol for a bit as it was the first time he had heard about Titan since the upheaval, "What is a Titan? Aren't they the same with Gods? As far as I remember they are just some older God, right?" he asked in confirmation.

"No, they are not, Titan and God both could live for eternity but they are a different being, when a creature becomes a demigod, it could turn into a human form, but if it turned into a demi-titan then it would not be able to do so, in exchange they gain the ability to turn into a giant creature." Nerodia started.

"As for why you gain nothing from the ant queen was because a demi-titan did not create a core divinity but assimilate the divinity into their physical body, the divinity would be bound to the corpse rather than become free for you to claim."

Sol finally understand why he did not get anything when he kills the ant queen, "Then what can I get from it?" Sol asked as he refuses to believe that he would gain nothing after the hard work he did in killing the ant queen.

"Well, you could craft a divine armament with the ant's body or upgrade your existing armament with it since the body is stronger than any mortal tier material," she started to explain.

"Other than that, you could also feed it to a creature to help it advance to be a demi-titan, of course, they need to digest the body first before they could advance but it has some merit as well, even those without bloodline or potential to advance could be a demi-titan by consuming a Demi-titan body."

That gave Sol a pause as it could help them increase the amount of demigod level being on their side which was a big deal.

"What about power? Does Titan have the same power as God? I did not see the ant queen conjure anything" He questioned the all-knowing girl.

"Demititan could not conjure things as they did not create their core divinity but absorb the divinity into their body, in exchange their body becomes attuned to one element of the world and they could manipulate them." She answered dutifully.

"Their body also stronger than a Demigod as they assimilate their power into their body, of course, a long-range battle was not their strong suit but they were by no mean weak," She added.

It was then that Sol asked the billion-dollar question, "Can a human eat the ant queen body and become a demigod?"

It gave Nerodia a pause as there was no human or God who even thing of making a human into a Titan, it was just unthinkable to turn one into a Titan.

"I honestly don't know as there was no record of such a thing happened in the ancient time, but it theoretically possible to do so, it's even better in some aspect as human don't need the ability to turn into a human so being a Titan has one less downside to human," Nerodia told Sol of her opinion.

Then Sol suddenly turned sullen, "It's good that we could do that but how do we get it out of the ground? And isn't it too big for people to eat?" he lamented out loud.

Nerodia only snorted at him and told him to move back, once Sol was out of the way, she touches the ant leg with her hand and it suddenly shrinks into an ant the size of a palm.

"You can do that?" Sol was shocked as he would not need to be in her mouth if she could do that before.

"I can't do that to a living being, and I just got this ability so don't bother to complain," she said with a look as if she could read his mind.

"Enough chit chat let's get back before the other got worried," Nerodia said then turned back toward the city.

They walk back to the city, with their speed, they could get there within a few minutes as they were both a demigod, but none of them were in a hurry.

"By the way, Nerodia, why did you want to be a demigod so badly? Can't you just choose to be a Titan?" Sol asked the snake girl.

"Because I know more from my bloodline, I got the knowledge of ancient time and from that, I knew that the path of a Titan is a dead end, or at least as long as the Gods are in control, the path of a Titan would not lead to a good ending." She explained.

Sol become confused, "so the Gods are stronger than the Titan?" he tried to probe the girl.

"Not really, both are equally strong but since the Titan lost the war, Gods are in control while Titans are treated as either Slave or prisoner," Nerodia explained.

"If I grow strong enough to be a real Titan then the Gods would not let me live, they would hunt me down in fear of me freeing the other Titan."

It leads Sol to another question which Sol had been thinking since the death of Apollo, "What do you think of the Gods? Are they good or are they bad?"

Nerodia's step was halted by the question, she looked at him with seriousness and said, "There is no good or bad in this world, good or bad is subjective, the only thing that was sure is winner and loser if you win then you are right and if you lose then you are wrong."

They did not talk anymore after that as the situation had become awkward and Sol had a lot to think about.

Whether he should believe in the Gods or not and whether he should let someone he knows went on the road of a Titan.

He had the means to help them become a titan but knowing that they would be on a dead-end path, Sol was not sure if he could take it.

He would rather use the ant queen body to enhance or create an armament with it, even though the gain would not be as much as having another demigod level creature on his side, it was better than damn his people into a dead end.

At first, he had thought to give the ant to Miya as she was the only one who could not advance naturally, she had no bloodline nor the potential to be a demigod.

"Ugh... worse come to worse, it's better to ask Minerva for help rather than let Miya becoming a Titan," he concluded.

When he reaches the city, everything was over, people started to get back into the city and family members of the dead defenders were mourning their passing.

The next day, Sol and his companions started to get ready to get back, they were packing ration for their journey back and saying goodbye to people they know in the city.

Nerva was saying goodbye to the od couple she had stayed with, Sol thought she was just attached to them because they took care of her.

They also get an urn of soil from the city and gave the soil from their city to the city's current representative.

They had created another contract because the red-haired girl had died but everything else went according to plan.

Sol said his good by to Jean and Jacob who had recovered enough from the fight, he looked battered with bandage and cast on every limb but Sol predicts he will be back to his prime in a few days.

"It's time for a goodbye huh?" he lamented as he had been through a lot in just a few days in the city.
