Sorcha Knight In The City

Chapter 51 - Warm hands

A warm hand pats the head of a girl, who's currently lying on a bed. Her face is deathly pale, but her expression shows no pain.

"Next time, if you face several enemies, and you know that you're no match against them, just buy for time." He said.

Her lips curved slightly, as she looks at the man rumbling continuosly beside her.

"Don't waste your energy fighting them head on. Instead, use it to find ways to escape unscathed." He added. But upon seeing her just look at his face, not minding his words, he reprimanded,

"Hey are you listening?" He flicked her forehead and sighed. "Remember this clearly. Buy time as long as possible. I promise, I will be there for you." He said seriously.

"Mm." She said while smiling. "Then I will wait for you if that ever happens again."

"No. Forget that. I won't let that happen again." He said, vowing internally that he'll protect her always.

"Tsk. Can you stop being so serious. It's not as if I'm weak okay? I was just outnumbered. If I weren't, those rebels wouldn't even stand a chance against me." She bragged trying to ease his worries.

"Sigh. Girl, I don't know what to do about you." He shook his head as he smiled, brightening up the surrounding.

"No. Not anymore." She answered.

Their eyes met. Their gaze speaking soundless words of care, spreading warmth in both of their heart.

~~~
Sorcha flinched her eyes a bit as she adjusts to the light upon waking up. The unfamiliar white place alerted her. Her stomach badly aches, but she didn't care about it.
"Where?" She tried speaking, but her voice was raspy making her uncomfortable.
"Lil Sorcha." Aria was the first to notice her. "Call the doctor over." She said to the other man inside the room. After giving instructions, she hurriedly went near her. She looked at her face and held her hand.
"How do you feel? Is your wound painful? Tell mommy if it hurts okay?" She asked worriedly.
Sorcha looked at her in daze. 'Was that a dream?' she asked herself.
Anthony looked at her reaction, and held Aria, making her give way to him.
"Sorcha? How are you?" Anthony asked.
Finally, Sorcha came back to reality. 'It was indeed a dream.' She said inwardly. 'That place no longer exists, and that man no longer live' Her heart felt so much pain, but she squeezed out a smile for her parents in this world.
She nodded.
The husband and wife could finally sigh in relief.
"Do you feel hungry? I bought some fruits for you." Aria asked.
Sorcha shook her head. "I'm not. Thank you, mom."
"Are you sure you're really okay?" Anthony asked doubtfully.
"Mm. I'm fine." She lied. "I just feel a bit tired."
She reached out for the blanket, feeling a bit cold. She really missed that warm hands of his.
