Soul Trader

Chapter 2 - Character creation

It's 8 in the morning already, even though I get up at 5 every morning I don't see my sister around that time, she sleeps until 7 in the morning before she goes to school, while I get up early to go shopping at the market and fix up breakfast for us after which I go to practice to dojo.

I just came back home and I still have about an hour before the game starts which leaves me with little to do considering that I already finished everything I had to do usually in this time of day. I guess I will go and create my character considering you can do it immediately, the only problem is that I can't enter the game with my character until 9 in the morning. As I lie down into my gaming cabin I sense mild tingling under my skin as I close my eyes and enter the game.

Damn it, too much white, do these developers ever consider normal human reactions before they do something stupid like this? I mean yeah they do make some obviously awesome things which most of us commoners can't even imagine, but dude don't make your loading screen jarring white it might blind some people you know? Okay enough with my inner monologue let's get back to my character creation.

"Welcome to Origin, a whole new world where you decide your own fate, so fight for your fate!"

Somewhat cute voice entered my head even though I've already heard that same commercial millions of times already I must admit it does awaken some eagerness in me.

"Welcome to character creation menu, we will guide you step by step in your character creation, let's start with your race, there are couple of races to pick from so take your time."

As the voice finished vague shapes appear in front of me slowly taking form until they finally morph into me, in different races of course.

"Human, Elf, Dwarf, Demon, Half-Elf, Highborn, Orc, Undead, Troll, Vampire and Werewolf are our current options, if you want more information about certain race just focus on their visual representative."

Shortly every race has two racial passives which make them different from the rest and I'll explain later more about it because I already have in mind the race I will choose.

"I pick human, proceed."

The reason why I picked human is because my friends and I made a plan in which we all have a part of a job to do before we meet up in the game again, but because of our lack of funds we only managed to get 6 game capsules so the rest of them will join us a month later when they make in game gold useable in real world. Yes you heard me, gold coins in game will become official currency in the world! How awesome is that, brings professional player term on a whole new level. Bad puns aside considering what Gab said a year from now everyone will be using same currency in both worlds so it does make your life easier and quite simpler if I may add.

Now for the reason I picked human race is mostly because of their passive skill "Diplomacy" which makes it easier for me to make contact with all other races, which is kind of a must for me and my personal quest. Oh you are interested in my personal quest? Well it wouldn't be fun if I told you now right? Back to the topic now, besides "Diplomacy" there is also another passive for humans and that is "God-blessed" which gives humans bonus to their faith stat which I won't be needing anyway so that passive is totally irrelevant for me. First of all let me mention that none of passive skills of any race is strictly combat related because this game promoted non-combat life for many players, so in that way this game is divided between combat players and lifestyle players or for short just life players. Every player has one main class and one sub class in his own choice so all kinds of mixes are possible considering that you can even create a class on your own if system deems it unique enough.

"Proceeding to attribute points distribution."

Now let me tell you more about stats, every race starts out with 3 base main stats, 1 off-stats and 1 race stat. 3 main stats are strength, agility and intelligence or STR, AGI, INT. Off-stat is endurance or END for short. And finally race stats, each race has one different starting stat which is why we call them race stats, but even so all races can have those particular stats it's just that not everyone can have them from the start.

[STR:1 AGI:1 INT:1 END:10 GUI:1]

The box up there you see is what every player starts with before already mentioned attribute distribution, but this is how it looks like once you distribute those attributes.

[STR:1 AGI:1 INT:1 END:10 GUI:21]

Must seem strange to you huh? Well let me explain, as I mentioned earlier our good friend Gab has sort of power to see the future and in which he found out about some secrets about this game, for an example first person to achieve 20 guile unlocks a new stat luck.

"Congratulations, you are first person to achieve 20 Guile, you have been awarded new attribute Luck."

[STR:1 AGI:1 INT:1 END:10 DEF:10 GUI:21 LCK:1]

[You have earned new achievement "Lady's Fortune favorite"]

Achievements are kind of records of different feats you did in the game, like doing something for the first time or doing something that not a lot of people would think of. Aside from achievements there is also system record named Records of history which is somewhat similar to achievements but unlike achievements only one person can be listed for certain record unlike achievements which are sharable and repeatable by different people, records can give different bonuses while achievements are mostly for showing off and getting some small rewards.

Well since I explained everything necessary for now I'll go and edit character appearance a bit before the game starts.
