Superpowers? Yes Please!

Lake was thinking about what kind of Evo Style he should pick at the library.

The thing he lacked most right now was attacks, but the only kind of styles he had access to were too low-leveled for him to pick an attack type evo style. Especially when he had Ape's Might in his arsenal.

So the next best thing for him was a defense type Evo Style. There were many different ones that had different effects, most of them had to do with increasing the body's overall toughness.

Unfortunately, Lake only knew of the more popular ones since they were the dreams of every young esper, but those were too high-leveled for a copper esper to take.

Arriving at the Association he was astonished at the grandness of the building, even in a city full of skyscr.a.p.ers like Itor the Ability Association still outshone them all.

The whole building was covered in glass windows yet nothing could be seen from the outside, it was 50 meters wide and 50 meters long. From the ground you could barely even see the top. And though it looked fragile, it could take hits from a gold esper without any problems.

"Glass windows yet you can't see inside? The designers sure had some weird ideas." Lake said to himself while walking inside.

The interior of the building was surprisingly simple, it was clean and quiet despite the great amount of people inside.

The Association had all sorts of different facilities inside. It had training facilities that allowed people to enter into a virtual world to battle with others without risk of injury, though they would suffer a minor headache if they died inside.

This proved to be an effective way of allowing people to experience real combat without worry of injury. Gaining combat experience without the risks.

There was an information booth that allowed the purchase of any kind of information, except for the private details on specific people or companies.

There were many different departments that made up the Association.

The main ones were the Elixir Research Department, and the Esper Advisory. The Elixir Research is quite self-explanatory. It allowed alchemists to conduct research on elixirs to manufacture a more cost effective method of producing them. While at the same time producing more powerful elixirs as well.

The Esper Advisory was it's sort of own organization within an organization. They accepted any espers willing to join and trained them up to become workers within the Association. Those that joined had to sign a contract that stated they weren't allowed to leave to join other organizations.

This was what deterred a great many espers, mostly those that enjoyed freedom, the ones that did join however, were drawn in by the great benefits they were given.

Personal tutelage by high-leveled espers, provided with many elixirs and Evo-Styles, and their families would be granted protection by the Association. This was the foundation of the Associations strength. The only thing was they were required to do tasks for the Association when needed.

When Lake walked inside the first thing he noticed was the large crowd gathered in one area.

"What's going over there?" Out of curiosity he walked over to see what was going on.

They were all excited and heatedly discussing with each other. Lake squeezed through the crowd pretty easily because of his small size. When he reached the front of the crowd he saw that they were surrounding one person.

He wore a dark blue suit with a black tie. The man was slim and tall with a lean figure. He was clearly young as there were no hints of age were apparent on him. His hair was slicked back and he was wearing a proud smile on his handsome face while he was surrounded by everyone.

And on his c.h.e.s.t was a small emblem that looked like a beaker. That emblem was the sign of someone from the Elixir Research department.

"No wonder everyone is so excited, someone from the Elixir Research department is extremely wealthy. And not only that, they have access to a great amount of elixirs, anybody would want to get into their good books."

After seeing the man he was curious as to why someone with such status would be out here.

Just when he prepared to ask someone else got to it first. "Dr. Iyer what is someone like you out here so casually?"

It seemed like the man was waiting for that question as he immediately broke out into light laughter.

"I just felt like it had become a bit stuffy inside the lab and decided it would do me good to go out for some fresh air. I am just waiting for someone at the moment, so don't mind me." He said while fixing his tie.

As someone was going to ask another question Iyer's head turned slightly and something caught his eye. With a chuckle he moved forward out of the crowd.

With all eyes watching him they all saw him stroll towards someone outside the crowd. A woman in a beautiful red dress. With shining golden hair and blossoming red lips she oozed s.e.x appeal.

"Miss Selena! Are you ready for the evening?" Putting on his most charming smile he put his right hand over his heart and bowed slightly in greeting.

"Dr. Iyer, greetings. I'm ready, I hope I haven't kept you waiting?" She said with a smile. The smile was enchanting, it caused all the men in the crowd to gulp when they saw it.

Even Lake couldn't help but take a second glance. But to Lake it seemed forced, and he noticed something in her eyes, he saw helplessness and despair.

He couldn't understand why she had those kind of emotions hidden inside, and it looked like this Dr. Iyer was the cause.

"Nonsense, I had just arrived myself. Shall we leave then, the car is waiting." Extending his hand to take hers, they both exited the building and left while all eyes were watching them leave.

Just as they left the building a ding sounded out in Lake's head.
