Surviving Apocalypse With Powers Of Fictional Characters

Like a startled cat, Jen jumped backward.

"Hey! What did you do to me?! Hey!! Why is this thing following me around?!!" (Jen)

"Wait, who did she pronounce last?" (Chai)

Looking back at him, Zack said "It's Jean Grey. D*mn, an Omega-Level mutant."

"H-hey! Help me! What's this thing? How do I shut it off?!" (Jen)

Backed up on a corner, she looked at the two men in front of her in confusion.

"This freakin' bolster…CALM DOWN! If you think in your head to make it disappear, it will vanish by itself!" (Chai)

Although his tone were harsh, it proved to be working as she calmed down.

"Jen, looks like luck is on your side. You have powers." (Zack)

"Powers? What powers? All I saw was just a rectangular screen appearing out of nowhere!" (Jen)

Zack explained to her about the phenomenon affecting the entire world and the entire human race.

He taught her how to navigate around the interface, and what could she do with it.

"But Jean Grey? That woman X-Men that I saw on the Saturday cartoons when I was a kid? Why?" (Jen)

"Is this K-Pop boyband member wannabe having PMS? Why is he so mean all the time?" (Jen). She said it while looking at Zack.

"Stinkin' bolster! Who's a wannabe f*cking boyband member, huh?!" (Chai). Zack had to hold his best friend back from rushing at Jennifer.

"Bolster this! Bolster that! DO I LOOK THAT FAT TO BE CALLED A 'BANTAL BUSUK'?" (Jen)

"Well you certainly didn't wanna let go of Zack when you guys crashed landed. And that white sundress? How do you NOT look like a one?!" (Chai)

Zack calmed the cat and dog.

'The things I do for this brother of mine.' (Zack). He laughed inwardly, reminiscing the times he had to apologize to people Chai had offended.

"Jen, please type out the words that appeared on that rectangular screen." (Zack)

He then tapped the iPhone to switch the Notes app.

"Why can't I just take a picture of it?" (Jen)

"Okay, try to snap its picture." (Zack)

Jen switched to the phone's camera and pressed the shutter.

"What the?!" (Jen)

"If it worked, won't we ask you to do it already? Pssh." (Chai)

Annoyingly glancing at Chai, she thought to herself: 'How did an androgynous, model-like man like him end up with such a sh*tty personality?'

Seeing that the picture turned out to have nothing but an image of the dirty grey floor, she willingly complied to type her status down.

Jennifer heard it and pouted. "What do I get if I lie? I don't have a single clue about this thing before!" (Jen)

After a few minutes, Zack thought up of an idea.

"Guys, looking at the zombies crowding us and the Fire Station…we could try to outrun it, or kill them off. What say you?" (Zack)

"Run away and miss getting all those experience points? No f*cking way! What's the plan, bro?" (Chai)

Zack turned his head to Jennifer.

Unaware, she started to tremble. "You guys are crazy. How are we supposed to outrun them, and you're talking about killing them? There's thousands of them!" (Jen)

"Jen, I'll explain my plan first and you decide afterwards. Although, it could work better if we have an extra hand." (Zack)

Zack promised her if she decided to stay, they would provide her with some food, water and weapons.

They couldn't blow up the station because there were no Fire Trucks left, so there were no flammable fuel available.

"Firemen would practice on their rescuing routines. There would be equipments like ladders, axes and others. Not to mention a water source where they practice extinguishing fires." (Zack)

The challenge was to locate the water source and the equipments. They need to distract the zombies elsewhere for them to search the Station.

From the Map, there are four buildings in the entire Station.

Two in the front are the Administration Building and the Fire Truck Garage.

The two behind were the Living Quarters and presumably, their Storage Building.

"Jen, so this building that you came out from was the Administration Building, right?" (Zack)

She nodded.

She also said that there were people in the other buildings too. Although living or not, she could not confirmed.

"From the trembling that I felt, there are still zombies heading to the Fire Station but in a small amount. It's been thirty minutes since we're here, so majority of them are already gathered." (Zack)

The situation was not as dire as it looked.

"From what I saw, the zombies are swarming a tall watchtower. The source of the Siren." (Zack)

If they were sneak away stealthily, they could safely reach the Air Force base.

"Pardon me for asking. Exactly why would anyone, I mean, ANYONE in their right mind want to actually KILL those things?!" (Jen). The plan was plausible, but the reason was not.

"Do you still not get, bolster? Why do you think we could jump super high and kill zombies with our b.a.r.e hands?" (Chai)

Power.

The reason that the fat pervert could cause her fiancé's death, and the reason her life was saved by Zack.

"Look, I don't give a sh*t about your life stories, or what the f*ck are you going to do after this…but one thing I know is this: YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SH*T." (Chai)

"Somebody insults you? Shut their mouth back yourself! Somebody hits you? Teach them a lesson yourself! Somebody took your things? Grab them back yourself! Somebody harmed your people? FIGHT.THEM.BACK.YOURSELF." (Chai)

She looked at the handsome youth in awe. His words were unforgiving but delivered the message.

Strength. Power. Control!

Suddenly, dusts and sand floated a few millimeters off the ground.

'Uhh..Danny. Danny!' (Jen)

Chai and Zack could feel a force emanating from Jennifer that was slumped over in a sitting position.

The force then started to spread throughout the whole place, the machines and wires started to shake.

Her uncontrollable tears seemed to correlate with the intensity of the pressure.

'Man, she's totally like the Jean Grey from X-Men. Emotions affect her powers.' (Zack)

Seconds pass by and the ground and walls start to crack. Her grieving sobs intensified.

'I better stop her before this place collapses. Can't afford to get buried before the plan starts, right?' (Zack)

As he was about to approach Jennifer, Chai tapped his shoulder. Chai shook his head to Zack.

"Good. GOOD! Cry it out. CRY THE F*CK OUT! Once you've done crying, you can either continue to cry, or swear never to cry again!" (Chai)

She started to calm down after hearing Chai's words.

"Whatever your decision is, we don't give a f*ck. You can wait here, and 'hope' that somebody saves you. Me and Zack aren't that type." (Chai)

"But if you're gonna take matters into your own hands, you're more than welcomed to join us. We don't help anyone who can't even want to help themselves!" (Chai)

"The fact that you dared to jump out the window and hang on to it, I'd say you have some guts. You lucked out that we passed by and Zack catched you, but after this? YOU STILL THINK YOUR AS* WILL GET SAVED OVER AND OVER AGAIN? Fat chance!" (Chai)

BANG!

Cough! Cough!

With no sudden warnings, Chai flew back to the wall by an invisible push!

"Screw you, as*hole! Danny…I didn't abandon Danny! I didn't know what to do! I was scared! I wish I could've stopped that b*stard! I JUST WISHED I COULD HAVE SAVED DANNY!!!" (Jen)

Her scream echoed throughout the place. She was sweating and panting from the releasing her [Telekinesis] subconsciously.

The tremor grew stronger and stronger.

'Sh*t! Her powers…it's like I'm being pushed away by a wall!' (Zack)

Zack was being pushed away inches by inches every second.

He crouched down to the ground, and actually crawled to her by digging his fingers on the ground!

'Almost…there!' (Zack). He concentrated all his powers on his ten appendages and feet.

The crying Jennifer felt a warm embrace.

Her head was pressed to a firm wall. She could hear heartbeats from it.

The arms around her gave a sense of belonging.

It was the same arms that enveloped her gently when she fell down from a four-story fall.

"It's okay, Jen. It's okay. Everything's going to be okay." (Zack)

She cried on his c.h.e.s.t for several minutes.

As her tears subsided, Zack passed her a pack of tissue.

He then walked to Chai and pulled up him back up.

"You okay?" (Zack)

"Yeah. Her power's the real deal." (Chai)

Looking at the cracks at the wall where Chai landed, Jennifer asked with a complicated face.

"U-um! Did I do that?" (Jen). She pointed at Chai.

"No, it was the Pokémon in my belt. Who did you think did this, bolster? Now my back's itchy!" (Chai)

"Jen, as you can see, you have a great power in you. Although me and my buddy here are strong, we had to go through several life-and-death experiences, not to mention the constant testing on what we can do, and what we can't." (Zack)

She felt better after releasing everything in her heart.

Her view towards them, especially Zack, improved tremendously. She felt like she could trust them.

"We'll give you some time. Let us know once you've decided." (Zack)

Hundreds upon hundreds of groans could be heard from a distance.

Sea of vile, putrid living corpses concentrated at one, single point.

Located in the middle of the Fire Station, the tower acts as both watchtower and siren tower.

{Son, I found the blueprint. Finish up and meet me at the Storage Building.} (Zack)

Chai acted as a decoy to lure the zombies gathering around the Administrative Building away.

To lure them effectively, he smeared of his blood on his combat outfit.

It proved to be effective as the blood-curling, hideous creatures broke away from the siren tower.

Even though there were hundreds of them following Chai, he could still maintain a relaxed and steady running pace.

To increase the success rate and lessen the risk, both of them upgraded their skills.

With 268 experience points acc.u.mulated, he upgraded his primary skill.

'Ghost Steps' is the technique Son Goku acquired during the World Martial Arts Tournament saga, fighting his enemy-turned-friend Tien Shin Han.

It allows Chai to burst into speed several times faster that after-images appeared.

Chai played with the technique, and the zombies actually fell for it!

The [HERO System] does not give many descriptions. Therefore the user had to figure out their new abilities.

'Given enough time, I could take out this whole entire horde by myself…but it'll take days.' (Chai)

He could currently outrun the zombies any time of the day.

The problem lied on his energy reserve.

His strength and speed might have increased dramatically, but his energy reserve is a problem.

Without enough food, he could not perform at his best.

'The more I use 'Ghost Steps', the hungrier I get. Man, this sucks!' (Chai)

The plan was to kill the zombie horde in one fell swoop. The blueprint that Zack talked about was the Fire Station's blueprint that had every single details of where's where and what's what.

With his eidetic memory, resulting from his [Kryptonian Physique] altering his brain structure, he could remember everything he senses and experienced.

He could access them at his beck and call.

In the 4,000 square-feet Storage Building, the tools and equipments were placed everywhere.

"I thought my room was messy, jeez." (Chai)

"The survivors probably grabbed anything they could use as weapons." (Zack)

They began scrambling around heaps of items. They cleared out an area to assemble the different parts they needed for their 'extermination' plan.

GROWL~

"I…am…so…hungry." (Chai)

Lying down on a cold concrete floor, his stomach rumbled non-stop.

His entire body was stained with dirt, especially his head, hands and feet.

"Me too, buddy. I underestimated the area size. Never knew that it'll be this much work to dig 50,000 meter cube of soil out!" (Zack)

For the past three to four hours, they hollowed out a significant area right below the Siren Tower!

"My head hurts, ugh." (Jen)

To transport the soil they dug, Jennifer was assigned to telekinetically move them.

"When we are done, you'll find it much easier to control your powers." (Zack)

The plan also doubled as Jennifer's practice session. By learning to control objects with her mind, she began to slowly understand how her [Telekinesis] power works.

Zack tossed a few protein bars to Chai.

"Rest up, brother. We'll go out and execute 'Phase III' in twenty minutes." (Zack)

'Phase I' was to gather information about the Fire Station's entire area's schematics. This allows them to plan where the water supply and electrical cables were.

'Phase II' was to perforate the area below the Fire SirenTower, where the zombies were gathered. This served as a 'trap' when they execute the next phase.

'Phase III' was to gather all remaining zombies in a 500 meters radius of the Fire Station.

According to Zack's calculation, when a minimum of 10 tons of weight are concentrated right above the three hundred meters radius that they have dug out, hundreds and hundreds of zombies will fall down into a three meter deep hole!

"Zack, are you sure that this could kill them? I mean, they are undead!" (Jen)

"Relax, bolster. My bro 'ere knows his sh*t. Trust him, he's an engineer." (Chai)

"Are you always going to call me with that name?" (Jen). She glared at him with indifference.

Chai stood up and nonchalantly makes a final check on his equipment and gears.

"Tell you what, bolster. If you could pull this off like we've assigned you to, which YOU agreed…then I'll apologize. Until then, don't chicken out. Okay?" (Chai)

He purportedly winked at her.

'Humph, I'll prove to this pretty face guy that I can take things in my own hands. Humph!' (Jen). Chai's words seemed to spark her determination on fire.

The rest time passed by quickly.

"Alright guys, everybody clear about what they should do?" (Zack)

"YAS! Come on let's go I'm dying to start already!" (Chai)

"O-okay! I'll do my best!" (Jen)

"Alright, cross your fingers and pray to whichever God you believe in. Remember! We only have this ONE CHANCE! I'll see you on the other side!" (Zack)

"Godspeed!" (Chai) (Jen)
