MIA'S POV:

Finally. It's over.

I am dead. Again.

I slowly enjoyed the blankness. It's the sole rewarding thing from death. Everything's still, close to eternal nothingness.

I savoured the momentary peace, who knows when I can finally have it again.

.

.

.

"You can open your eyes now." The all-too familiar and angelic voice of certain loathsome God was naturally heard.

I chose to disregard him and enjoyed the emptiness.

"Ahem, I said you can open your eyes now, can you hear me?"

But the man couldn't overlook me.

"What is it now?" I asked him. He looked a rare bit disgruntled at the tone of my voice. It was devoid of emotions, well not completely if tiredness represents an emotion.

He looked at me guiltily. He should be. He was precisely the reason I am like this. As I took p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e in his internal turmoil, he was ready to talk to me again.

"So, congratulations. You finished your trials rather well."

"I had to. I would be obliterated otherwise, wouldn't I?" I said mockingly.

"...You still hold a grudge against me."

"You jest, Your Grace! How could I, a mere human soul hold anything against you, an 'almighty' God? Just because you killed me accidentally? No, sir. Absolutely not. It happened three lifetimes ago after all."

My words, were filled with pronounced sarcasm and tone laced with a sickly sweet venom. He clearly understood that I hadn't forgotten the curse he put on me.

The God was finally a bit angry.

"I adequately compensated you for that mistake."

"Compensation? Huh, you might as well should've left me dead instead." I scoffed at him, feeling satisfied he was finally enraged.

"You should know anyone else would've gladly accepted this."

"Too bad, your remuneration doesn't match my tastes." I indeed enjoyed infuriating him. It's such a joy, definitely worth risking my obliteration. I wonder, when did I grow into such a daredevil? Not caring for God or Death or my possible annihilation?

Maybe after living and dying for four times, anyone would I guess.

"You are given a chance to reincarnate! A mission to-"

"A mission to play Hero and I could care less about it."

"Why would you? You were able to aid so many people this way and-"

"And I also tortured myself. You would never comprehend it. Oh please, you don't have to look at me like that. The miseries of a mortal are naturally beneath you."

"..." The God indeed couldn't fathom why I would be like this. I'd be amazed if he did. Because he is highly insufferable for that.

"...Sigh. You need to leave your past behind to move forward."

"Leave my past behind? I had to leave myself behind because of your imbecility!!!" I was incensed. He did wrong bringing up my past. The sore spot didn't heal completely, and it never will.

My first life I had, as myself and not as anyone else...I would never give it up for anything in the world. The life which ended because of some God's absurd mistake. Whenever I think about it, I see red. The God realised it as well.

"...Once again, I'm sorry for that."

"Then leave already!"

"I'm sorry I can't do that. I have something to say to you. It's very important."

"Do it quickly then. I rather be born anew than to be over here with you."

"Uh, as I said before, you completed your trials quite remarkably. Which also promises more freedom to your soul."

"...You suggest I can be mortal again?"

"No, I'm afraid it's not possible. You are not mortal. You are immortal. It cannot be altered."

I looked incredulously at him.

"I HAD ENOUGH-"

"Listen to me completely. You might not be mortal again, but you can have your freedom."

The hateful God cut my voice, rendering me unable to curse at him. A terrible pity I was about to spew all the blasphemies I know from my four lifetimes.

"Ahem, so you have little less restraints now. You don't need to worry about your soul being annihilated anymore. With all the good karma you've gathered, you won't be harmed easily."

I stopped struggling. I'm dazed. And the God thought it was because I was extremely delighted.

A fine misunderstanding it is.

"But I have to caution you, all the reincarnations from now would be more difficult."

"More difficult?" I inquired him when he un-muted me.

"Yes, you will understand soon."

"Oh."

"Happy reincarnation then. Hope you find your way."

He flashed an angelic smile at me, and I returned one, just that it was fake and along with a punch to his face right before I entered the cycle of reincarnation. The glimpse at his horrified bewilderment was priceless.

Once again, a familiar darkness enveloped around me as I felt my senses run away from me. I am being reborn, again.

3rd POV:

After the girl had punched the God in his face and left, a melodious laughter resounded throughout the hall.

The God, coming back to his senses was immediately upset.

"This no laughing matter, my Lord." He said grudgingly.

"I understand, and I'm sorry about it."

"No, no, my Lord-"

"It's okay, you had bear her wrath many times now. Thanks for being patient and for accepting my selfish requests."

"No, my Lord! It's an honour to be of your help. But my Lord, may I know why you are doing this? You assigned me to kill her and turn her into an immortal through an elaborate means. And the most depressing thing is, she utterly ungrateful to it. Never seen anyone like her in a long time, one who loves their ephemerality."

The God thought he had that much right to know after bearing all of her complaints, curses and insults for a long, long time. He was mentally brutalized.

He couldn't punish her. He couldn't impede her either. He was rather vexed with everything. With a lot of effort, he managed to complete his task now.

He doesn't need to monitor her anymore and was intrigued about the whole situation. How come the Lord be fascinated in a mortal? A one so peculiar like this one?

The Lord was silent. His thoughts raced miles in a minute. His impeccable face was a bit rueful. After a long time, he added, "It's complicated."

The doctors recognized no reason for her sudden death. It was too inexplicable and mysterious. No one was able to puzzle out the cause of her death. It was close to a miracle, like how her spirit departed from her body.

Many people felt sorry for the loss, she was like a legend after all. Not just anybody can make a mark on history at the young age of thirty. Especially someone with a poor background like her.

She became an insight to many. Her feats and legacy became a goal to many.

But the individual in question didn't give a damn about it.

She just couldn't digest the fact that she died. Just like that. Like anyone else or maybe not, because she couldn't accept it even after reincarnating three folds...
