Tales Of Good And Evil

Chapter 6 - The Human Capital City!

From talking with the blacksmith, Richard learned a total of ten things from him. The first one being the price of the blacksmith's cheapest two-handed sword which was exactly fifty copper coins. The second one was that the blacksmith was not looking to hire anyone, but he could hire Richard if Richard wanted the blacksmith to hire him. That is if Richard had either a merchant's or a blacksmith's license, which he didn't have. The third one was that to work any job, Richard had to have that job's license. Meaning that to work behind the counter, he had to have a merchant's license and to forge weapons and armour, he had to have a blacksmith's license. The fourth thing that Richard learned from the blacksmith was that the merchant's license was easier to obtain than the blacksmith's license, but it cost more money than any other license. The fifth thing was that there was one license or rather a diploma that didn't cost anything. But was harder to obtain than any license. The sixth thing was that to get a license, Richard just had to go through the university, but to get the diploma which was also known as the hero's diploma, he had to go through countless life-threatening trials. The seventh thing was that to get the hero's diploma, Richard had to go to the human capital city. The eighth thing was that the admissions into the academy which awarded its graduates the hero's diploma would be ending soon. The ninth thing was where the human capital city was and that it was known as Eden. And the last, the tenth thing that Richard learned from the blacksmith was where in Eden was the academy.

Finishing his conversation with the blacksmith, Richard bid him farewell and left his shop. He left the town and headed straight for the human capital city – Eden.

Richard's journey to Eden was a long and boring journey filled with an unchanging scenery of fields, in which, at any given moment, he found three out of the four things: grass, rocks, trees and slimes.

Before the capital city's high walls finally appeared far into the distance, Richard had spent an entire three weeks on the road. And before he entered the city, another three days had passed. Two days for him to get close enough to Eden to see the long line of people waiting to get into Eden and another day of standing in line to get into the city itself.

It was evening when Richard finally got into Eden, he walked directly to the building in which he had to register for the academy and entered it.

Inside the building, Richard saw that just like the outside of the city, there was a line, but this time he didn't have to wait for an entire day, but rather for measly three hours.

When it was finally his turn, Richard walked up to the counter. Behind it stood a middle-aged woman.

"Please tell me your name," the middle-aged woman said.

"My name is Richard Vice," Richard said.

"Age?"

"Thirty-six."

The middle-aged woman nodded her head. She pulled out a token from behind a counter and place it on it. "Go to the address written on this and show it to the dorm mother. You will be given a room. The exams for the hero academy will be starting in five days. And so come back here five days. You can go."

"Thank you," Richard said and left the building. He walked to the address that was written on the token and reached a four-storey building. He walked up to the counter behind which sat an old woman.
