The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 11 - 11: Treated Like A Princess

Crying was something that Violet didn’t normally experience, even though she was very emotional.

But during her life, it was hard to remember a day that she cried because of something really sad.

Now it was like all her emotions were too much for her to handle, and the fact that she didn’t know how to behave in front of Jack was the last straw.

When Jack stormed out of her cell, Violet let all her emotions kick in and when she realized, the tears were already running down her cheeks.

Violet cried herself to sleep, exhausted and weak.

Some time during the night - or was it the afternoon? - Violet woke up with a noise on the door, and when she opened her eyes, she saw two guards in front of her.

“Get up. We are taking you somewhere else.” one of them said and Violet got up, still trying to make sense of what was happening..

She did as they said and they got out of the cell.

“Where are you taking me?” she asked afraid, knowing that they would never answer a prisoner, specially one that tried to kill their leader.

But surprisingly, the other one gave her a very detailed answer.

“Jack asked us to take you to your room. You’re going to stay there and wait for him to come talk to you.”

Violet stopped walking in shock.

“He did what?” she asked incredulous.

But they didn’t repeat it, just continued to walk in front of her, showing the way.

Violet was feeling very frail and her legs were trembling a bit, but she tried her best to stay upright and pretend she hadn’t been affected.

Was she really going to stay in a room? Why the sudden change of mind from Jack?

Was that a trap?

But as she followed the men until her destination, she couldn’t avoid examining the mansion.

She saw a few members just living their lives, going in and out from their bedrooms, and surprisingly, every single person that she bumped into greeted her.

Violet was stunned.

Why would they talk to someone that tried to kill their leader? Or they didn’t know about it?

Or maybe they knew that she was Jack’s mate?

But she didn’t have much time to reflect upon that because they stopped in front of a door at the hallway.

Violet almost bumped into the guards.

“This is your bedroom from now on.” one of them said, pointing at the door.

“Our leader’s bedroom is over there.” the other man pointed to another door at the end of the hallway. “Don’t try to do anything stupid, because we have guards all over the mansion.”

“You should be grateful for the chance he’s giving you. Even though he’s very generous, Jack would never do this for someone that intended to kill him.” the other guard concluded and opened the door for Violet to pass.

“Someone will bring you some food later, so don’t try to get out of here by yourself.”

Violet wasn’t sure who said the last sentence because she wasn’t looking at them anymore.

As soon as she entered the room, her mouth dropped in awe.

It was a huge and gorgeous room, fully equipped and with a very delicate and classic decoration.

“It's so beautiful…” she murmured, even though there was no one else there anymore.

There was a giant bed with a very soft and welcoming mattress. Violet was dreaming to have a good night of sleep.

But more than that, she just wanted to take a shower.

At the corner of the room, there was another door that led to a bathroom. Jack had given her a suite.

One very similar to the one she had in the palace.

She ran to the bathroom and tossed her dress in the trash, because she couldn’t stand to look at it anymore.

Who knows how long she had been inside that dungeon?

But then a sudden thought came to her mind. What was she going to wear?

She didn’t bring anything with her.

Was it possible that Jack provided something for her?

She went back to the room and opened a drawer from the commode.

The furniture had some folded and clean clothes, and they smelled very nicely.

Violet took a white shirt from it, that seemed to be a bit large for her and some jeans that she didn’t know how, but they had guessed the size correctly.

And then she finally got in the hot shower, which almost made her cry again.

It was hard to believe that she was finally free.

Not exactly free, but out of that dungeon, which was already a very good progress.

Violet was so exhausted that she didn’t even think about anything as she washed her hair and rubbed her skin.

Every action was made automatically, and as soon as she changed and went back to her bedroom, she fell on the bed and blacked out instantly.

She didn’t have any dreams, she just slept for hours and hours. A light and low noise woke her up, and it took a while for her to identify where it was coming from.

Violet opened her eyes and heard the sound again.

Someone was knocking on the door.

Violet jumped from the bed, feeling much better after sleeping so well. She could almost feel reinvigorated.

If only she could wake her inner wolf… She would definitely feel complete and refreshed.

“Coming…” she answered as she heard another knock, this time a little louder and rushed.

She turned the doorknob and pulled the door, only to see the only person she didn’t want to see at that moment.

Or maybe never again.

Jack was on the other side, looking at her with those perfect eyes she was actually missing.

Now she could see him clearly, since it was bright and there was a lot of lamps lighting up the hallway.

He was also very close and Violet could examine every single detail on his face, his arms…

Violet looked down to check him out and saw that he had a tattoo on his right arm.

It was a drawing of the moon and the letter R in a very distinguished and creative form. Violet thought it was incredibly beautiful and it kind of gave him a cool vibe.

“Liking what you see?” his voice took her out of her reverie.

“I'm sorry!” she said startled. “I was just admiring your tattoo. It’s really nice.”

Jack raised his brows at her.

“I think this side of you is much better than the one you showed me before. You know, complimenting me and being pleasant.” he said with a mocking smile, and Violet didn’t know if he was only teasing her or being honest.

“Did you like your room?” he asked politely, still standing outside of the door.

Violet thought it would be better if she showed some politeness as well, so she made space for him and told him to come in.

After all, it was his house.

As he passed by her, Violet shivered with his scent. He smelled so good.

She shook her head and tried to focus on their conversation.

“I did like it, thank you very much for taking me out of that place.” she said sincerely.

Jack looked at her seriously.

“Yeah, I really hope you don’t make me regret taking this decision.”

Violet could feel her cheeks burning with his eyes checking her out, analyzing her every move.

“Anyway, I came here to propose you something.” he continued, turning his back to her and starting to walk across the bedroom.

Violet followed his moves with her eyes, unable to trust herself to get closer.

“Propose?” she asked confused. “What type of proposal?”

He stopped to look at her and smiled.

“Not the one I wanted, unfortunately.” his eyes could almost eat her alive, but Violet pretended she didn’t feel it. “I had an idea to deal with your case, instead of killing you.”

Violet gulped.

The talk turned to a completely different direction.

“What do you say we talk about it during dinner? Just you and me. Put the cards on the table.”

He stared at her with expectant but professional eyes, making sure to show her that he was still a leader.

A very powerful one.

It was getting even more clear with time that Violet would have a real hard time to deceive him.

Jack was extremely clever. He wouldn’t let anyone fool him. Specially someone like Violet, with almost no experience.

Even if she was his mate.

What should she say? Should she have dinner with him alone?

Did she trust herself enough for that?

Violet already knew the answer for that question, but she didn’t have much choice.

She had a chance to negotiate with him, so whatever was the result, she had to risk it.

“Okay then.”

“Great. Since we don’t want anyone bothering us as we talk, we can eat in my office. Nobody will interrupt us there.” Jack said as he made his way back to the exit.

Nobody would interrupt them.

Violet considered that over and over again as she followed him outside.

Was that a good or bad thing?
