The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 28 - 28: Mixed Emotions

“Holy shit, you almost scared me to death! What are you doing here?" Violet complained, squatting down to catch the brush.

Jack had his hands inside his pockets and was staring at the moon very focused.

Violet stood there, just admiring his image, also calming her heart after the scare he gave her.

He seemed tired.

“I'm sorry. I didn’t mean to sneak into your bedroom without asking for your permission. But I didn’t want anyone seeing me outside trying to get in.” he explained without looking at her.

“It's ok. I don’t mind…” she shrugged her shoulders..

She sat on the bed, waiting for Jack to finally say what he wanted with her. He didn’t even look at her.

“Can I help you with something?” she asked in a low voice.

“I’m not sure.” he simply answered.

Violet frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, I think you’re the main reason to my problems, so I’m not sure how you could help.”

“How am I the reason to your problems? What did I do now?” Violet asked on the defensive.

“You didn’t. I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant. I… I can’t seem to get you off my mind. That’s the problem.”

Violet felt her heart burning. Was that what it mean to be in love?

She wanted to say that she couldn’t stop thinking about him either, but giving the direction of the conversation, it didn’t seem to be something wise to say at that moment.

So she just stayed in silence.

“I keep having this internal conflict with myself, and I can’t seem to reach a consensus.”

“I’m sorry, I’m not following.” Violet said impatiently. “Can you be a little more straightforward?”

Why did he have to say everything enigmatically, like she was supposed to understand what he wanted to say?

And Jack looked at her suddenly, apparently surprised by her response.

“What I’m trying to say is that…” he started to explain as he turned to look at her, but his eyes fell upon her face immediately and went from annoyed to worried. “What happened to you?”

He took his hands out of his pocket and went straight towards Violet, holding her cheeks on his hands with a lot of caution and softness.

“It was nothing. Morgana took me to practice today.” she lied. She didn’t think it was a good thing to tell them the details of that afternoon.

“Practice? Did she hurt you?” Jack seemed incredulous.

His eyes were scanning every part of Violet’s body, trying to find anything like a bruise or a wound.

He found the ones on her arms, but the ribs were covered, which was a good thing.

Because he went insane after that.

“Why the f*ck did she have to hurt you like that? What happened?”

Violet took a deep breath. She wanted him to continue the other conversation so badly. She wanted to know what he meant by saying she was the reason of his problems.

“I'm fine. It was nothing.” she said, trying to calm him down.

“How is that nothing? You’re full of bruises everywhere. That’s not what I asked her to do.” he was walking from side to side inside the bedroom, venting his anger on his steps.

“I already said I’m fine. I’m not that fragile. And I can defend myself.” she stated very firmly.

She liked to be treated with care, but she also wanted him to acknowledge her strength and power. She could protect herself.

He stopped and looked at her, surprised.

“I know you can. It’s just… It pains me to see you like this.”

Violet felt a lump on her throat.

Did that mean he loved her? That he had felt for her?

Why couldn’t he say it?

“Apparently you were right though. I am a sorceress.” Violet said, and he looked at her with a lot of intensity.

“I knew it! So, how did you find that out?” he asked as he sat on the bed by her side.

And then, just like that, Violet told him everything.

She didn’t want to at first, but the way he seemed sincerely interested in what she had to say, made her want to share everything with him.

She felt that someone had finally considered her stories important for the first time, and it was so good.

It was true that Jack got really mad again, as she explained how Morgana made her powers awake, but when she told him what she did, he relaxed.

“So now I have to read all these books.” she pointed to the books over her bed.

“That doesn’t look very promising.” he pulled out a funny grimace.

Violet laughed, finding it very cute how he reacted to her homework.

“Can we go back to what you were saying before now?” she tried to get back to the first topic of the talk.

“I don’t remember what I was saying.” Jack said with shrug of shoulders, but Violet didn’t believe him.

“You were talking about your internal conflict, and how you can’t reach a consensus, and how I’m supposed to be the reason to all the problems in your life.” she listed every topic of the previous conversation.

Jack looked at her with fiery eyes.

She missed those eyes so much. The way they stared into her soul and how they made her feel powerful, sexy, beautiful and smart.

Jack had a way of making Violet feel like the most brilliant and happy woman in the planet when he was near her.

“Well, what I was trying to say is that I’m going insane just by thinking of you. And when I need to stay away, I can’t help but want to come back.”

“Really? I thought I was just an adventure for you.” Violet said trying to make a straight face.

It was hard to pretend to be indifferent when all she wanted to do was kiss him.

“Is that what you took from my actions?” he frowned.

“Yeah, well… Apparently, you’re not very good at showing your true emotions.” she murmured with a smile.

That seemed to piss him off.

“Is that so?”

He leaned against her, and as Violet tried to escape from the side, he grabbed her waist and pressed her against the mattress with his own body.

“Maybe I should work on that. I don’t want anyone thinking that I’m not expressing myself correctly. I hate being misunderstood.” he uttered with a naughty smile on his lips.

It was getting really hot inside the bedroom.

His jeans rubbing against her naked legs, his hands around her waist squeezing her sides…

“Ouch!” she yelled when he touched her ribs.

“What? Did I hurt you? I didn’t even start.” he said concerned as he scanned her body one more time searching for another wound.

“It’s just… My ribs. Maybe you don’t need to prove your point with so much determination tonight.” she explained with a painful face.

Jack grabbed her shirt and pulled it up abruptly, tossing it on the floor.

He didn’t even seem to notice Violet’s underwear. She was dying to ask him who had chosen those pieces for her, but he seemed very concerned about her bruises instead.

“I'm gonna kill Morgana.” he said against his clenched teeth.

“I already said I’m fine.” Violet repeated as she grabbed his face and made him look up.

She took her body forward, grabbing his lips between her teeth and pulling him over her body.
