The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 31 - 31: Four Elements

For the first time in days, Violet was finally able to leave the mansion.

It was amazing to feel the early breeze hitting her face, smell the fresh air, see the nature and people living their lives on the streets.

She hadn’t seem Jack again after their night together. Which was good, because she still hadn’t figured out what she would do if Arden showed up in front of her to rescue her from Jack’s possession.

She decided not to think about that until it was absolutely inevitable.

Morgana took a detour to get to the woods with more privacy, which was why Violet didn’t see too much of the civilization.

They were getting deeper into the forest, but it was still visible to see the sky and the sun high up in the sky.

They didn’t say a word during the way, and Violet wondered if it was a bad choice to confront Morgana earlier..

But she was tired of being wronged. She was tired of everyone looking at her like she was a serial killer.

If they knew she had already slept with Jack twice, they would stop thinking of her as a murderer.

Morgana stopped suddenly, and Violet had no idea of where they were.

There were trees all around them, but the space between them was enough to practice freely.

Although she couldn’t even imagine what type of training they would have that morning.

“I think here will be fine.” Morgana said putting her bag on the floor.

Violet was dying to know what she had inside, but didn’t ask.

“What exactly are we going to do?” she asked.

“Did you read the books I gave you?”

“Some of them, yes.”

“I believe you got to the part where they talk about the four elements…” Morgana raised her brows.

“I did.”

“Well, that's good. Because today we will find out if you have any ability with that.”

Violet felt excited all of a sudden. She was really curious about that.

“Since your organism must still contain some traces of the drug, it might be a little hard for you at first. But we will try anyway.” Morgana explained.

She squatted down and took four bowls out of her bag.

She lined them up in front of Violet and filled them with the elements.

One she poured water; the other she lit a tiny stick on fire; the third was left empty; and the last she completed with a little dirt from the ground.

“Okay, so basically what you will have to do here is to focus on each of these elements. You will have to block everything around you. All the noises, smells…” Morgana got up and stared at her.

“But what will be harder is to shut down your thoughts. You can’t think of anything.” the woman added.

That was definitely going to be the most difficult part. Violet was trying to do that for the last month and was not having any success.

“First, close your eyes. Try to shut your senses to everything outside. Ignore every sound, stop thinking about whatever can be bothering you. At least for now.”

Violet did as she was told.

She tried to empty her mind, ignore Morgana by her side, forget about every single problem she was facing with Jack and her internal conflict…

A calmness started to spread from her heart to every single part of her body.

It was like she was flying.

Violet had never felt so calm and at peace before. It felt so good.

She didn’t know how long she stayed there, just feeling that stillness.

At some point, she heard Morgana’s voice far away.

“Violet… You can open your eyes now.”

She did that and her eyes fell upon the four bowls immediately.

“Now, look at this bowl.” Morgana pointed to the one filled with water. “Can you feel anything? Some sort of connection?”

Violet targeted the object but didn’t feel anything.

She simply shook her head, and Morgana pointed to the next one.

The bowl with the stick on fire didn’t mean anything to Violet either, so she immediately moved her eyes to the next.

“This one is a little tricky. You need to imagine the air inside of it. Not around it, not the air you’re breathing. Imagine there’s a tiny ball of air inside of this bowl. Can you feel anything pulling you forward?” Morgana asked.

Violet concentrated on the invisible tiny ball of air, but there was nothing.

She was starting to get anxious. What if she couldn’t feel anything at all? Did that mean she was weak or simply didn’t have any element power?

Morgana stopped behind the last bowl that had dirt inside.

At first, Violet couldn’t feel anything. Maybe she was losing focus.

She narrowed her eyes and stared into the bowl and the tiny tree leaves inside of it.

It had something different happening, but Violet didn’t understand what it was.

It was like the dirt inside was attracting her like a magnet.

Morgana seemed to notice that and started to talk to Violet again.

“Okay, don't lose your focus now. Keep looking at it. Try to levitate the dirt with your hand. Think of it as puppet, and you’re in charge of the strings.”

Violet raised her hand and pointed it to the bowl in front of her. She wasn’t having much faith in herself, but she did exactly what Morgana told her to.

She imagined the dirt coming out of the bowl, obeying her command. Her hand was controlling it through an invisible string.

And suddenly Violet realized that she wasn’t imagining anything. That was actually happening.

Violet opened the most wide smile she could, feeling so proud of herself. Morgana also seemed to be very satisfied, and Violet swore she saw a glimpse of a smile on her lips.

But Violet pretended she didn’t see it though.

“Well done. So, guess you’re earth then.” Morgana stated and that sounded much more official to Violet.

“Okay, then I’m going to go grab some bigger sticks, maybe some logs. You wait here. Don’t try anything stupid. I’d catch you before you blinked.” Morgana said, and Violet jaw dropped in shock.

Morgana was leaving her alone, unsupervised?
