The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 33 - 33: Confrontation

Violet didn’t know what to do.

Why was Morgana back without her? Why did she leave her in the woods alone and was talking to Jack?

Did she tell him she had escaped?

What was happening?

Jack looked infuriated.

“Jack?” Violet whispered, showing up at the end of the hallway.

The man was looking up, trying to stay calm, and looked in her direction immediately after hearing her call.

His eyes widened as if she was a ghost or something.

“What…” he couldn’t even pronounce the words..

He was shocked. But why?

“What is going on?” Violet asked coming near him cautiously.

But then something seemed to hit him and the angry eyes came back.

He frowned and walked towards Violet.

He grabbed her by the arm and started pulling her, using an unnecessary strength.

“Jack, what are you doing?” she asked as she tried to pull her arm back, but it was useless.

Jack seemed blind with rage.

Violet realized where he was taking her by the paths they were going through.

Was he going to trap her inside her room again?

But he passed by her door and continued to walk. Towards his bedroom.

He slammed the door open and entered the room with her still on his hand.

“Jack! You’re hurting me!” she yelled confused.

Why was he acting like that?

He released her immediately, looking at her arm right after, scanning it to see if he had really hurt her.

“I thought we had agreed to trust each other.” he stated in a low voice. He seemed to be in pain.

Violet could see how hard it was for him to keep control.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Violet answered, still clueless.

Of course she knew Morgana was the responsible for him acting like that, but she didn’t know what the woman said.

It had clearly been a trick to take her out to practice. Violet felt frustrated for falling for it, but she didn’t really have a choice. Morgana forced her to go.

“Well, I heard you were in the woods talking to someone. But it wasn’t just someone, right? It was the Beta from the Diamond Pack, wasn’t it?” Jack yelled at her.

The way his eyes were staring at her made Violet want to cry.

She didn’t recognize him. He was looking at her with despise.

She opened her mouth to reply but no sound came out of it.

“And imagine my surprise when I also heard that you two were plotting to kill me. Again.” Jack smiled with disdain.

“I wasn’t…” Violet started to talk, but Jack interrupted her.

“Don't try to deny it.”

But Violet was tired of being wronged. She was tired of being manipulated, of having to prove to him that she deserved his trust.

He had also agreed that they would try to make it work. That they were willing to give up their prides and stay together.

So why did he back down at the first chance he got?

“I didn’t do it! Morgana clearly framed me.” she tried to explain.

“Yeah, right! She was keeping that guy under surveillance to use him to convince you to kill me.” Jack huffed.

“Don't be stupid. You know what I meant. She took me to practice and left me alone in the woods for hours. I didn’t know he would show up. How could I?”

“I have no idea!” Jack yelled frustrated. Violet thought she noticed a trace of sadness in his eyes. “How could I possible know how you do business in your stupid pack?”

“Don't you think I’d already have killed if I really wanted to? If I remember correctly, I had the chance to do it as you were sleeping by my side! I didn’t need a f*cking dagger.” Violet screamed back.

She was really angry now. How could he doubt her like that?

“You said you were willing to trust me, Jack! And the first chance you have, you accuse me of stupid things you don’t even have any proof of!”

Jack stayed silent with her burst. Maybe he wasn’t expecting her to be so active in the conversation.

“I could’ve escaped with him. Didn’t you think about that? I was alone, since Morgana came running to talk to you.” Violet said as she realized now what Morgana did.

The noise she heard must had been Morgana dropping the logs as she saw Lance there with Violet.

So she came running after Jack instead of confronting them.

If Violet escaped, Morgana would win, because she would be finally free from her.

If Violet came back, Jack wouldn’t trust her anymore. So she would also win.

At the end, Violet didn’t stand a chance.

“I didn’t know he was there, but I refused to go back! Because of you. Because I love you. But you’re too stupid to realize that, aren’t you? You just know how to accuse me of things I didn’t even do!” Violet screamed out of disappointment and anger.

Jack looked at her stunned and with intensity.

“What did you say?” he asked in a whisper.

He was obviously taken aback. The conversation took a way he didn’t expect.

That they didn’t expect actually. Violet couldn’t believe those words came out of her mouth.

Why would she say she loved him? Especially when he was blaming her for something she didn’t do?

She didn’t want to be the first to say that either. So why now?

She turned her back to him, not wanting to repeat it.

It physically hurt to defend herself from his accusations. She knew he had his reasons. Strong ones actually.

She didn’t know if she would be so condescending to him if the situation was reversed.

But they had agreed. Didn’t that mean anything to him?

“Violet, what did you just say?” Jack repeated the question, taking a few steps forward.

“You heard what I said.” she said with her back still turned to him. She didn’t want to face him. “I’ll be in my room if you want to punish me or whatever.” Violet completed with her hand already on the doorknob.

She wanted him to call her name, to grab her hand and give her the most passionate kiss he could ever give her.

But none of that happened.

In fact, she left the room without hearing a single word from him.

And she got to her bedroom without seeing anything, because the tears were blurring her sight.
