The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 47 - 47: Receiving The News

On the next day, Violet was feeling much better, although still very sad.

But just the fact that she was back at Jack’s mansion made her feel more light and at peace.

The whole place was a chaos because they were working on spreading the files to all newspapers across the continent.

She knew the next days would be crazy, but she did not expect it to be that much.

She wanted to do something, but there was nothing she could do anymore.

Now it was up to the release of the news, and then wait.

Wait for the outcome, wait to see how the werewolves across the Crescent would react to that.

She was still feeling weird about what she had discovered, and didn’t know what to think or feel..

All the good times she had lived with Arden and the little family they had came back to her mind in moments she didn’t want to think about it.

Especially now that she was trying so hard to forget what he did.

“Hey, baby. How are you feeling?” Jack asked as she entered his office.

The whole place was a mess.

There were papers everywhere and people coming in and out with documents on their hands.

He left the phone immediately after seeing her, and got up to greet her.

“I'm better, I guess.” she answered after he placed a soft kiss on her lips. “I came by to see if there’s anything I can do.”

Jack examined her before answering.

“Are you sure you want to get involved? I mean… I can do it by myself, I have people to help me. You don’t have to.”

Violet considered that option, but decided otherwise.

“It's okay. I want to help, feel useful. I don’t have anything else to do, and I wouldn’t be able to concentrate anyway.”

He nodded.

“Okay then. Come with me, I’ll show you what to do.” Jack grabbed her hand and pulled her to his table.

And just like that, Violet spent the whole day and the next ones calling the media and sending files and documents everywhere.

She wondered if Arden realized she stole the files or not, but she couldn’t know about it.

She even thought about calling Gwen, but she didn’t know what to say to the girl. Gwen was a topic she wasn’t willing to think about yet.

How would the girl react to everything that Violet did? Would she forgive her, would she be able to understand Violet’s reasons?

Violet didn’t want to lose her friendship, to lose her sister.

After all, even though Arden had killed her family, Gwen was considered her sister, and nothing could change that.

Days were passing slowly for Violet, mainly because she had no idea what was going on outside of the mansion.

There were no news yet about the effect those documents had caused on the population of the Crescent.

Violet was barely seeing Jack too. She was going to sleep before him and when she'd wake up, he wasn’t in bed anymore.

He managed to check on her once in a while during the day, because he knew she should be feeling sad, but he had a lot to do catch up on.

Violet was feeling bored, anxious, nervous and sad at the same time. The only good thing in her life at that moment was Jack.

But not even him she was able to enjoy at the fullest.

Her life had changed completely in less than a year. How was that possible?

One day, after Violet woke up, Lucinda passed by her, running like her life depended on it.

“Hey, Lucinda!” Violet called, because the woman didn’t seem to notice her there, even though she had almost bumped into Violet. “What happened?”

The woman stopped on the hallway, looking really disturbed.

“Ah, Violet. Sorry! I didn’t see you there.”

“What's going on? What’s the rush?”

Lucinda looked really impatient.

“I need to find Jack. It started. Everyone is rebelling against the Diamond Pack. We need to send some backup.”

“What?” Violet asked, but Lucinda was already on her way again.

Violet followed her, as she went inside Jack’s office without even knocking.

Jack was on the phone when they entered, but as soon as he saw Lucinda and Violet there, he excused himself and hung up.

“Lucinda. Violet. What happened?” he asked with concerned eyes.

Lucinda took a few steps forward.

“Jack, the rebellion had started. Lots of packs from all over the Crescent are here. The walls were invaded and we don’t know what is the current situation inside the palace.”

Violet felt like her heart had dropped from her chest.

“What?” she whispered, because she didn’t find the strength to say it out loud.

Of course she knew something like that could happen, but when it finally did, she realized she wasn’t ready to hear it.

Jack looked from Lucinda to Violet instantly.

“Vi…” he murmured, but she interrupted him.

“I'm fine.” she said. She also wanted to believe that.

In fact, she was preparing herself for that moment during the last days, so she had to be strong no matter what.

“I think we should send backup.” Lucinda continued. “The Rebels need to be there.”

“Of course.” Jack answered, looking at her again. “Tell everyone to get ready. We will leave tonight.”

“I’m going too!” Violet said abruptly, and she didn’t even believe that those words came out of her mouth.
