The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 87 - 87: Surprising The Enemy

“So we are going to attack them tomorrow.” Jack concluded.

“Tomorrow? But you didn’t have time to plan anything yet.” Violet commented scared.

How could they plan an attack so soon?

“We don’t have much time. We need to get them without warning. If Peter was reporting something to them, they might find weird that he didn’t show up.”

“Yeah, it makes sense.” Lance pointed out. “I think tomorrow is okay. We already have some advantage by knowing where they are hiding, so they won’t be expecting us..”

“Fine. So what time are we leaving?” Violet wanted to know.

Lance and Jack looked at her like she had a watermelon stuck in her head.

“What?” she asked confused.

“We?” Lance repeated with his forehead frowned.

“You're not going.” Jack said at the same time.

Violet rolled her eyes.

“I thought we had passed this phase already.” she said to Jack. “When are we leaving?” she repeated the question.

Jack and Lance exchanged glances, but she decided to ignore it.

“Tomorrow at midnight.” Jack said, very much against his will.

“Great! I’ll be ready then.” Violet concluded excited.

The hours passed real quickly, and when Violet realized, it was already time to meet the members to leave for their mission.

The night was really dark and the moon was shy behind the clouds.

The breeze was cold as ice, and she had to rub her hands to warm herself as she went to the gate of the mansion.

A lot of the members were already there. She recognized some guards and soldiers from the Rebels’ army. And for her surprise, or maybe she didn’t give it much thought, Lucinda was there too.

“Are you coming with us?” she asked to her friend as she got closer.

“I should be the one asking you this. I didn’t know you’d come! I thought Jack would try to forbid you!” she noted.

“Ha, I’m not his prisoner anymore. He can’t tell me what to do.” Violet smiled, making Lucinda laugh.

“He must had known where he was getting himself into when he asked to marry you, right?”

“Everyone! Please, pay attention.” Jack’s voice resonated throughout the night.

All heads turned to look at him, who was standing in front of the gate.

Violet was always mesmerized when she saw Jack acting like the Alpha. He looked so imposing, powerful and manly.

“We’ll go West, pass through the forest and circle the village from the Lunar Pack. They are not our enemies, but we don’t need to scare them by crossing their territory this late at night. The detour will only cost us a few more minutes.” Jack explained.

“We have no idea of how many men we are going to find there, so we must be prepared for anything. As most of you know, Arden might be planning to come back to the Diamond Pack to get his power back.”

Violet noticed that no one seemed to be surprised by that remark, so she assumed that Jack must had told them about it before.

He was really agile with matters that concerned the whole pack. Everyone seemed to be informed by their Alpha as soon as he had news that interested them.

“The goal is to prevent them from coming and helping Arden. We need to take as many of them down as possible.” Jack continued. “Does anyone have any questions?”

He looked from left to right, staring at every member’s face to see if they seemed to have any concerns and if they had understood everything.

A few of them shook their heads in denial, and then he looked to the side, and Violet realized that Morgana was also there.

Jack nodded.

“Good. So, Morgana will guide us with a ball of light through the forest. This ball will show us the way and also enlighten the path. Everyone stay close so no one gets lost.”

Jack turned and started to lead the way with Morgana by his side.

Violet was coming right behind him, placed between Lance and Lucinda.

Apparently they were still awkward with each other, but she didn’t have much time to discuss that further with her friend.

In fact, she didn’t even know if they had talked or not after Lance was brought into the mansion. She thought that Lance spent most of his time inside Jack’s office, so he probably didn’t have any alone time with Lucinda yet.

As they followed the ball of light that Morgana created with her magic, Violet realized it was the first time that she was going in a proper mission to attack someone.

When she stole the files from the Diamond Pack, or even when she participated in the rebellion against them, she didn’t have the chance to fight.

At the first one, she simply defended herself and tried to protect the documents.

On the second, they had prevented something bad from happening when they summoned the Alphas to talk to Gwen.

So she never had the chance to properly fight with the members of her pack. Now, she had to prove to everyone, especially to herself, that she was capable of being the wolf she needed to be when the push came to shove.

Long minutes passed, and then Violet sensed the atmosphere getting heavier and apprehensive. A few members shifted into their wolf forms before reaching the destination.

Violet could feel her stomach getting heavier and sick as she looked around and saw the number of tents in the place.

And when she saw the amount of people present there, her legs almost failed.

They were much more than they were expecting. And that wasn't a good sign.
