The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 92 - 92: The Last Move

Violet saw the days pass with Jack contacting a lot of the Rebels’ allies and telling them about his plan.

Violet was barely sleeping with the anticipation for their attack, and she was also waiting for something bad to happen in between, since Arden’s threat.

The construction of the walls of the Diamond Pack were going strong, and she worried that it would be already done once they left for the mission, which was only going to make things harder for them.

She tried to distract herself by talking nonsense with Lucinda and also going for a jog in the mornings, but nothing seemed to take the imminent fight from her mind.

She and Jack were finally well, although she barely had time to be with him alone. He was always working and making sure everything was okay for the battle, so she tried to commit with helping him as much as she could.

Lance was also doing great in the Rebels.

Everyone seemed to love him. Even Jack was having a great bond with him, something that Violet made sure to tease him about every once in a while.

But deep down, she felt awesome by seeing them finally bonding and having a good time together. It was one of the few things that made her happy lately.

That and her engagement ring, something she caught herself staring at several times during the days.

Lucinda and Lance was also a subject that kept her in a good mood too, even though her friend tried to avoid talking about it most of the time.

“Come on, Lucinda. You need to tell me. Did you guys make any progress in your relationship yet?” she asked one day when they finished having lunch together in the garden.

Lucinda gave her a grimace in return, even though Violet noticed she had blushed involuntarily.

“No, we didn’t. I mean, we talked a few times, but it wasn’t a big deal. I think he’s just too nervous or whatever. Sometimes I even think he’s trying to pretend our bond doesn’t exist, like it will vanish eventually if he keeps avoiding me.” Lucinda rolled her eyes, making Violet laugh.

“Just give him some time. We’re not really used to the idea of having a mate. He’ll give in, just be a little more patient.”

“I'd think that after he saved me, everything would fall into place. Apparently, I was wrong.” Lucinda uttered clearly disappointed.

“Maybe you should pressure him a bit, you know, show him that you’re a powerful and decided woman, that you know what you want. Don’t leave it all in his hands.”

Lucinda seemed to consider that advice immensely, but Violet didn’t have time to ask about the progression of it later, because when she realized, it was already the day of their departure.

They were going to leave after midnight, like always, since Jack liked to go after the enemies when they were least expecting it and were more out of guard.

As they followed to the Diamond Pack territory, Violet realized how she wasn’t ready for that.

One thing was to attack the enemies when she knew they were fugitives and bad people, like the ones they had attacked in the camping a few days earlier.

But now it was completely different situation.

She was going to her previous home. A lot of the guards there weren’t bad people.

There was also Gwen. She didn’t want the girl to be killed.

She made Jack promise that they wouldn’t kill anyone innocent.

Violet didn’t want to carry the burden of killing good people because of a political war.

Jack agreed they would do everything in their hands to make that achievable and made sure to pass the information to every single person coming along, which made Violet’s heart a little more at ease.

The main point of that mission was to get Arden.

Of course there would be resistance, but they wouldn’t kill unless it was completely necessary.

As they approached the walls, Violet got completely shocked.

It hadn’t been long since Gwen started to rebuild the wall, but Violet didn’t expect it to be in such an advanced stage.

There was barely a way in now.

She also noticed that the walls were taller than the previous one.

Now, there was only a breach for them to pass, being guarded by two men.

But Violet didn’t let herself be fooled. Of course the security inside should be much more stronger.

The strategy the Rebels had planned was that the others would go in as wolves and help contain the guards, so she, Jack and Lance could go after Arden.

Once they got him, they would leave, making the least mess possible.

But as Violet watched the wolves reaching the walls, and the guards being attacked so they could enter, she realized how impossible was for them not to make a huge mess.

She heard screams and roars coming from inside as soon as their allies passed the wall and gave them the sign to proceed.

So running between Lance and Jack, Violet crossed the border that separated the Diamond Pack from the rest of the continent and followed Lance to the gates of the palace.

She had a glimpse of the allies ordering people to get inside theirs houses as they knocked out the guards that were patrolling that night.

And when she saw the palace, when she saw that the door was now free, a loud siren echoed as they got inside, warning everyone from the pack that they were being attacked.

She noticed that it should be something that Gwen must had provided for the security of the Diamond Pack.

But they were in. That was it.

Now all they had to do was to find Arden.

And then everything would finally end.

At least is what she hoped it would happen.
