The Ascension Of The Celestial Priest

Chapter 44 - Radiant FeatherSteps.

Moments after Finian and his goon left, Lucas strangely looked at the murals in his feet. And for the first time he noticed that they were respectively split into three parts of a whole circle, with each section decorated with different runes and murals placed in their respective shades of black, white and grey. A little nervous while wondering if it would work, Lukas sat in the middle of the circle, closed his eyes and with a deep breath, he readied himself for the task ahead.

In the finding out what made the priests of light unique from other mages, there was one thing Lukas had noticed ever since he reincarnated into this world. And that was the manifestation of the psyche. The Radiant Meditation arts emphasized visualization amongst all things and it was reason why any priest of light who had mastered even an inkling of the meditation arts manifests a trace of psyche depending on their talents and their level of comprehension.

Most of the time, this kind of power bestows one the ability to freely control their spells even more intricately and if they are particularly gifted, the power of telekinesis but in lower cultivation levels it was almost useless in direct battles. Lukas had tried his best in training his psyche regularly but he hardly ever saw any direct increase in its power and might, hence he was forced to regulate its importance to a minimum.

After collecting himself, he pulled the image he had been visualizing for a past couple of weeks up to his mind palace and then let out a breath. With time it had gotten easier and easier to do so, especially when he subconsciously summoned it the moment he was faced to with Lin's psyche power just a few seconds ago. In fact it was during the confrontation that made everything in his mind click into place as it started a wildfire of ideas that he was forced to shelve for later.

For now, the only concern he had was to see if it will work.

Broadening his psyche power like waves, it soundlessly flowed to the ground, slowly creeping around his surroundings like an invisible smoke. His cultivational stage might be low, (only at Mid-Mortal stage) but for now it was barely enough. His manifested psyche ebbed slowly but surely, reaching for the respective murals and when it lightly brushed against them a few seconds later, what happened next surprised Lukas so much that he nearly snapped out of focus.

The moment his psyche touched the runes, it was almost as if his mind exploded. In a cacophony of sounds and kaleidoscope of colors Lukas almost found himself lost within the whirlpool of information that crashed against his mental palace. But in the back of his mind something held, even as he felt his mind buzzing with signs, runes, murals and figures waltzing so fast inside that it made him dizzy. It took a long time before the swirl of colors settled and when he finally opened his eyes, a gleam flashed in his pale eyes for finally getting it.

As it happens, his sister was right. The very thing he needed the most was in the very runes he had just solved. He looked at them with a whisp of gratitude and happiness. Because in the end, the Murals didn't hide a spell as he had once guessed, instead they recorded a secret skill, a very profound movement skill that came with its own practice manual.

The Secret skill was respectively called the Radiant Feather Steps. An amalgamation of physical fitness, mana control and elemental light circulated within the body to produce such an effect that can drastically increase one's speed proportionally. And even though Lukas already fully comprehended the skill in his mind, the murals were meant to act as guidelines, showing how to execute it perfectly without any errors.

Lukas went to the white section of the murals, sat down and then let out his psyche to learn. The Movement Skill Radiant FeatherSteps had 3 levels to it, The Flowing Light at its 1st stage, Flickering Light at its 2nd Stage and The Light Domain at its 3rd stage. Each stage required such strict requirements to train that Lukas was sure it would take a while until he successively mastered the first stage of the Skill.

The white section of the mural possessed the 1st stage, Flowing Light. The moment he inserted his psyche he could see a translucent golden figure manifesting in his mind's eye and then with a subtle grace, its body flowed around the runes lighting it up in every step. Flowing Light as it name presumes, allowed the caster to move his or her body in form of light, uninterrupted almost like a dance throughout the battlefield. And even though it drastically increased the speed of the caster, it was specifically meant for dodging and evading. It was a dance of light that flowed in the midst of a deadly battle, untargeatble, untraceable and untouchable by any of the surrounding danger.

Lukas powered the murals several times in a bid to learn, fully engrossed and enraptured. The Golden figure was moving like a dancer, leaving behind a trail of light almost like the breath of the wind. Lukas stared and observed, imprinting the technique in his mind, from the steps it took, to the circulation of mana to the graceful way it tilted, jumped and moved almost as if it was a ballerina on theater.

It was only when he suddenly found himself pale that the Golden figure flickered into darkness. His psyche had dried up and it took several breaths to regain any semblance of strength into his body. He made a mental note for this so that next time he doesn't let himself get so enraptured that he fails to sense his limits.

More than a few deep breaths later with a little meditation to boot, Lukas began to feel like himself again. He mentally reviewed what he got and he knew he had hit the jack pot this time. With such a skill on the field his survival will be even more ensured and he won't be to be a sitting duck next time he meets foes quicker on their feet.

But in the next coming days, Lukas discovered one very huge thing; he had ultimately underestimated the difficulty of the skill.

The Movement skill needed micro management of mana over certain parts of his body, from his legs to his whole body and in addition he still had to perform intricate yoga like poses that pushed his body's limit again and again that after only a few minutes he would end up tired and exhausted, not possessing any kind of strength needed for further training in his spell casting and runic knowledge.

Realizing such a thing, Lukas further optimized his schedule, placing the training of the Movement skill on very specific days, alternating between days that he loved where he would visualize and further his spell casting and runic mastery to days that would fill his heart with despair every time as he tried to push his unwilling body to be stronger while he tried to emulate and gain deeper understanding of the blasted skill recorded within the ancient hall.
