TL: Moonlit

After having breakfast, Lin Su brought out two chairs and placed them at the doorway. He helped William and Kane out of the room to bask in the sun. Compared to William, Kane’s condition could be considered much better.

Although his body was still stiff and weak, he could still manage to walk slowly with the support of the wall for a while. His complexion had improved significantly compared to before.

Since Kane fell ill, Su Jin had been living in constant anxiety, hoping that his condition would not worsen. He never imagined that one day he would have a chance to recover. Now, seeing Kane able to get out of bed and walk, with his complexion getting better and better, his heart was filled with immense joy. For a moment, it felt like life had regained hope.

Even Da-Hei, Kane’s contracted beast, was running around energetically in the yard, startling a few wild chickens, and causing them to cluck loudly.

William was half reclining on the chair, his golden beast eyes half closed, and his white fox tail gently swaying on the ground. Although his expression was faint, it gave off a pleasant feeling.

Lin Su fetched a hat and placed it on William’s face to shield him from the glaring sunlight.

Suddenly, everything went dark for William, and he caught a whiff of the natural fragrance emanating from the young female. His canine ears twitched, and a curve formed unconsciously at the corners of his lips.

Lin Su sorted and purified the fruits and vegetables that Su Jin had neatly piled on the side, preparing them for tomorrow’s sale to the law enforcement department.

Tang Ran came out of the house with a gloomy expression. These past few days, due to the incident of Drew betraying Tang Ou, their family had become the topic of gossip at every meal. Wherever they went, they felt like people were talking behind their backs. Tang Ran didn’t even know where Tang Ou had run off to; nothing seemed to be going well for them.

Suddenly, he heard laughter coming from the neighboring yard. Tang Ran looked up and thought about Lin Su’s public announcement a few days ago, declaring his successful bond and gaining the enviable purification ability. He couldn’t help but feel resentful. After all, their lives had been so difficult before, so why were things getting better for them now?

In contrast, everything in their family seemed to be going wrong. Suddenly, Tang Ran’s pupils contracted dramatically. He walked quickly to the edge of the yard and stared intently in the direction of Lin Su’s house.

He wasn’t mistaken; that was indeed Kane. Although he had become extremely thin, like a gust of wind could blow him away, and his movements were stiff, his spirit surprisingly seemed to be in a good state. Even Kane’s contracted beast, Da-Hei, was frolicking around happily.

In the early stages of Kane’s illness, he often helped Su Jin with chores. As his mental disorder worsened, it became rare to see Kane leave the house, and in the past year, Tang Ran hadn’t even caught a glimpse of him.

Later, news spread that Su Jin had depleted all their savings and borrowed money to buy palliatives for Kane. People around them had privately speculated that Kane was probably beyond help.

They also thought Su Jin was foolish, asking why he didn’t put that money to better use. Even if he spent it all, he wouldn’t be able to cure Kane’s mental disorder. When Kane eventually couldn’t hold on any longer and died, he would be left with nothing, both in terms of family and wealth.

But now, not only was Kane coming out of the room, but he could also support himself with the wall and walk. It was completely different from what Tang Ran had imagined.

Tang Ran couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched Kane slowly walking somewhere. He was convinced that Kane must have used that palliative; otherwise, there was no way to explain all of this.

Taking notice of the half-beast male lying on the chair on the other side, Tang Ran felt a slight dilution of the sourness rising in his heart. Even if Kane recovered, what difference would it make?

Their family had two males affected by the illness, and one palliative couldn’t be used by both of them.

When Kane’s palliative loses its effect, their family would be in utter ruin. Could the power of purification, no matter how powerful, cure mental disorders?

Tang Ran sneered and turned back into the house.

After finishing his work, Su Jin came out and saw Kane standing there, squinting his eyes and enjoying the sunlight. He said, “Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet. Don’t tire yourself out. Sit down and rest for a while. Gradually start exercising, okay?”

Kane smiled and replied, “I know. I have a plan in mind. Don’t worry.”

Lin Su finished purifying the fruits and vegetables, then went to check on the patch of vegetables he had planted. He noticed that the strawberries he had planted earlier had also produced fruits. The bright red strawberries, each about the size of a palm, looked especially tempting.

He picked some, washed them clean, and brought them to Kane and William, saying, “Have some strawberries to replenish your energy.”

The fresh, vibrant red strawberries were bitten into, releasing a sweet and rich flavor that spread between their lips and teeth. At the same time, a refreshing natural aroma swept over their exhausted bodies.

After eating a strawberry, Lin Su felt all the fatigue that came with purifying the fruits and vegetables dissipate, leaving him incredibly satisfied.

Ever since news spread about Lin Su gaining the purification ability after forming a bond, more people started coming to their house on Farm No. 13. Today, there were more people than usual on the road due to the good weather, and many of them noticed William basking in the sun in the yard, as well as Kane being able to walk.

Although they didn’t show much on their faces, as they walked away, some people couldn’t help but gather together and express their surprise. “Kane can actually get out of bed! I thought he was done for after not seeing him for so long!”

“Didn’t you see his complexion and his contracted beast frolicking in the yard? Isn’t that a good sign? I believe that his mental disorder has improved!”

“Do you think he’s been eating purified fruits and vegetables?”

“That’s unlikely. Although I’ve never eaten purified fruits and vegetables, I’ve never heard of them curing mental disorders. Besides, look at the partner matched with Lin Su. He’s even more severely affected than Kane.”

“Didn’t they say Su Jin bought palliatives? It should be the effect of the palliatives. It seems like the palliatives have a greater impact. Kane can get out of bed now, and it won’t be long before he returns to how he was before.”

“What are you thinking? Palliatives can only last for a while. When the illness relapses, it will be even worse than the first time. Kane may look fine now, but this is just the beginning.”

At this point, the conversation among the people suddenly ceased. The surprise brought about by Kane’s ability to get out of bed was diluted by that last statement.

Indeed, it was a mental disorder, an incurable mental disorder.

Even if Kane seemed fine now, what difference would it make? They were waiting for a more dire situation when the illness relapsed.

After basking in the sun all morning, Kane felt his stiff bones had loosened up a lot.

In the intense afternoon sunlight, Kane and William decided not to continue sunbathing. After having lunch, Kane took a short nap.

William couldn’t sleep, but his condition had improved significantly from absorbing Lin Su’s natural aura recently.

Lin Su finished purifying all the fruits and vegetables in the yard and gathered them in a bag, ready for the visit from the law enforcement department tomorrow.

Then he went to check on the chicken coop, where the five wild chickens she had brought back had gradually recovered their spirits after these days of adjustment.

Their legs were tied with ropes, but they were not completely restricted. The five chickens were now walking around the coop, not afraid of Lin Su anymore. They still leisurely pecked at the ground from time to time.

Lin Su threw some vegetable scraps into the feeding tray and absentmindedly reached into the chicken coop to see if any eggs had been laid.

This action was purely subconscious, and he didn’t expect the chickens to lay eggs so quickly.

As a result, his fingers touched several round and hard objects. He paused for a moment, then took one out. The round and white chicken egg was so big that it was a bit difficult for him to hold it in one hand. His eyes lit up instantly, and he quickly took out the remaining eggs.

There were a total of four eggs, all round and white, larger than goose eggs.

He decided to keep two eggs to see if they could hatch into chicks, and the remaining two eggs would be prepared for an extra meal for everyone tonight.

It had been a while since he had eaten eggs since coming here.

He had already thought of frying one and making an egg custard with the other!

Su Jin looked at the eggs in his hands and exclaimed in delight, “They laid eggs?”

“Four eggs! We’ll try to hatch two and we’ll eat these two tonight!” Lin Su’s eyes sparkled as he spoke.

The dimples on his cheeks couldn’t hide his excitement, and his whole body was filled with joy, infecting Su Jin, who also smiled along.

How could their cub be so cute and beautiful?

The fried eggs and egg custard they made for dinner turned out to be a success, and Lin Su was fully satisfied with his meal.

After dinner, Lin Su fetched a pen and paper and asked William, “Have you ever eaten purified fruits and vegetables before, and what is the average price?”

Lin Su, who had no knowledge in this area, looked at William, trying to glean some information from his usual behavior. He could vaguely tell that he must have lived a relatively comfortable life before.

With a glimmer of hope in his eyes, Lin Su couldn’t help but reach out and discreetly touch the tip of William’s tail, thinking he was being sneaky.

Feeling the soft touch on his tail, William’s heart also softened. He was aware of the agreement between the law enforcement department and Lin Su, so he took the pen and paper and started writing. He didn’t have much experience in this area either since purchasing goods in the capital star was usually handled by someone else.

He could only rely on the limited experience he had from a few times eating at restaurants to give Lin Su an estimated price for the purified fruits and vegetables.

If the average price for regular purified fruits and vegetables was 200 beast coins per kilogram, in his opinion, the ones with soothing effects similar to palliatives should be priced even higher.

Just as Lin Su was about to hold William’s tail in his arms and give it a good rub, he saw the paper he handed back with the average price written as 500 beast coins per kilogram.

Lin Su widened his eyes in astonishment and looked at William with a doubtful gaze, “Is this the retail price? It’s so expensive!”

Upon hearing his words, William wrote on the paper, “Your fruits and vegetables are different. They have a soothing effect comparable to palliatives. Even if they are more expensive than regular ones, many people will buy them.”

“What is the average price for regular fruits and vegetables then?”

“200 beast coins per kilogram.”

Lin Su couldn’t help but think to himself, “My goodness!” Even though he knew purified fruits and vegetables were not cheap, he didn’t expect them to be so valuable.

For a moment, Lin Su’s mind was filled with thoughts of money, making a little profit!

Lin Su smiled, took the paper and pen, and said to William, “Thanks, I got it. I’ll buy you a new bed when I sell them.”

He put the paper and pen back in the drawer and went to the bathroom, not noticing the momentary unease on William’s face after he mentioned getting a new bed.

Glancing at the single bed behind him, considering the size of the small room, there was definitely no space for another bed. The most likely scenario was to replace it with a larger double bed.

If it was a double bed…

William’s canine ears twitched, and his large tail lying beside him lightly tapped the ground… He wasn’t particularly looking forward to it.

At night, William opened his eyes, his golden beast pupils glowing in the darkness.

The little female lying on the bed had already fallen asleep, his face showing a smile as if he was dreaming of something happy. He happily hugged the blanket and rubbed against it.

William’s gaze shifted away from Lin Su and looked outside the window. His brow furrowed slightly, and his canine ears twitched.

After a while, there was a sudden muffled groan followed by the sound of something heavy falling outside the quiet window.

At the same time, William raised his hand and pressed against his throbbing head, letting out a soft “mm” as he passed out.

Early the next morning, Lin Su was awakened by Su Jin’s exclamation. He quickly got up, intending to go out and see what had happened, but he saw William lying on the floor, his face pale…
