61. The Assessment (6)

After two seconds’ silence, there was an even louder laughter bursting out in the hall.

The sound of the laughter was even able to overturn the roof. If the first time the man’s fall was no big deal, this time he really caused a great disturbance. Even the staffer of the Union who had managed to restrain his laughter couldn’t help but snigger.

One time of falling might be an accident, but the second time only suggested how unlucky the man was!

The man with slanted eyes, face flushing in anger, jumped from the pieces of wood right away. If he still couldn’t detect that the boy had set him up, he really would be a fool. Only now did he find how ridiculous his former thought was.

Although he was not in a close relationship with Ming Qinghai, his position was much higher than the latter’s. Ming Qinghai wouldn’t have the guts to play such tricks on him. So the only explanation was that the boy was the reason for all the things that happened.

The man with slanted eyes whose face had turned totally red shouted fiercely with rage, “You stinky boy! You have caused all of this! How dare you!”

The people around him all showed scornful looks and laughed at him indifferently. The man with slanted eyes had never been humiliated like this, so he just uttered those curses without any scruple.

Feng Xi winked his eyes and said with an innocent look, “Sir, what are you talking about? What do you mean by saying that I have caused all of this? Well, I didn’t make you fall from the chair, nor did I carry this chair out. Don’t you remember that sir over there has pulled the chairs here? Why are you blaming me for letting you fall?”

“Stop lying! If it’s not you, why have I fallen from the exact same chair you sat on?”

The man with slanted eyes was sensitive with his reputation. Now that Feng Xi had embarrassed him in front of so many people, he would never let this boy go. He had already restrained himself from attacking Feng Xi directly.

“How would I know that? The chairs belong to the Union, not me.” Feng Xi still denied everything while looking at the man with a smile.

“You, you…” The man with slanted eyes couldn’t utter anything after hearing Feng Xi’s words.

It was true that he had ordered Ming Qinghai to carry those two chairs out. So, if he had to find something to blame, that should be the quality of the Union’s chairs.

But that was just impossible!

The Green Nether Union was a very famous organization in the Netherworld. By no means would they take in defective chairs. If anything happened to the clients of the Union when they sat on the chairs, the reputation of the Union would be badly influenced.

What was more, people of the Green Nether Hunting Group were always strict with themselves and handled everything in great order. So how would they be unable to find out there was a broken chair?

Thinking of that, the man with slanted eyes was suddenly enlightened.

If they were all able to detect that there was something wrong with the chair, the boy must have already seen through that too. However, the man couldn’t figure out how Feng Xi had managed to embarrass him by damaging the chair he had sat on  without actually breaking it.

The man with slanted eyes was completely puzzled.

He was not the only one who got confused. The people in the crowd also hadn’t seen clearly what the boy had done.

“Sir, stop stammering, please help me register now.”

After Feng Xi enjoyed his moment, he finally got down to the serious business.

Feng Xi knew that although Uncle White and King of the Netherworld hadn’t given him any warning, they surely didn’t want him to get involved in lots of troubles again. Even though Feng Xi still felt that the troubles had come to him by themselves, he still had a feeling that he should go back early.

“Huh.” The man with slanted eyes snorted. He had almost forgotten about the registration thing. Luckily for him, Feng Xi had brought that up.

After he laughed grimly, he replied with a disdainful look, “Well, you think we’ll still let you register here after you have made so much trouble? There’s no freaking way!”

Feng Xi seemed to have expected this man would say so, so he wasn’t that surprised. Then he shrugged his shoulders and said with a serious look, “Sir, why do you blame me for your own bad luck? Are you venting your anger on me now? I can’t believe someone who is much older than me would be this ignorant. I think you only want to harbour your own people and want me to be responsible for the bad things happening to you. Well, your territory, your rules. I give up, all right?”

His words sounded so earnest as if things really had happened like that. Then Feng Xi shook his head and sighed, seeming like a one-hundred-year-old elder who had seen through everything. It was worth mentioning that Feng Xi’s acting skill was getting better and better.

After the man with slanted eyes heard Feng Xi’s words, his face twisted and his eyes almost jumped out of his eye sockets.

As a matter of fact, this man wasn’t certain if Feng Xi was the one who played the trick on him. Even so, he still tried to put the blame on the boy under such circumstances, since it was the only way to save his reputation. Otherwise, not only had he been totally humiliated today, he would also become a joke in the Rest Night City. That was something he would never allow to happen!

However, the man with slanted eyes didn’t realize that the boy wasn’t as vulnerable as he looked. Feng Xi seemed to have resigned to his fate but actually told everyone else that he had been forced to give up registering. One had to admit that Feng Xi had made an intelligent move!

It was like a slap on the man’s face.

In the air, the invisible God of Books and God of Bad Luck flew to Feng Xi and both gave Feng Xi a thumb-up with their eyebrows dancing with pleasure.

This was the first time Feng Xi was praised by others. Then he couldn’t help but grin, showing his canine teeth. However, the joyful look on his face spoilt his whole act.

Unfortunately, the people who were staring at him all saw his beaming smile, including the man with slanted eyes. Feng Xi’s complacent look was so obvious and almost dazzled the man’s eyes. As the man with slanted eyes saw it, Feng Xi only smiled like this to sneer at him. Now he wasn’t uncertain anymore and knew exactly that Feng Xi had done something on the two chairs.

As the man thought of that, his face turned deadly purple and his rage was beyond description. He wished he could kill the boy in front of him to vent his anger.

As he lost control of his body due to his rage, he rushed to the boy ferociously right away. Because the two of them had stood very closely and the man with slanted eyes had launched a surprise attack, he reached Feng Xi in no time before others could react…

As he was about to attack Feng Xi, a thunder-like voice suddenly struck his ear, “Come back!”

The man with slanted eyes paused at once, however, it was hard for him to stop due to inertia. At the critical moment, a tender and fair arm thumped on his head. With a huge bang, the man with slanted eyes suddenly fell ahead as if he had slipped.

The onlookers felt that they had heard the sound of the man’s nose being broken. Then they all touched their own noses subconsciously.

Right at this moment, the one who had caused all of this already escaped quickly. In no time, he disappeared right in front of everyone.

“I am going to kill you!!!” The voice of the man with slanted eyes came through from the hall.

“Ha ha ha! That is so funny!” Feng Xi ran to a remote corner. Having made sure that no one followed him here, he covered his belly and roared with laughter. After he could finally stop laughing, he said to God of Bad Luck, “Little Bad Luck, I never thought you would be this useful. Let’s wait until Hairless Chicken finishes its seclusion and go to the outside world for adventure. At that time, we don’t need to be afraid of anyone.”

“Well, master, don’t be overconfident.” God of Books shook his head and refuted.

“Am I wrong?” Feng Xi asked.

“The reason why we could succeed just now is that those people’s cultivation level isn’t high enough, so they were not able to see God of Bad Luck. Since they couldn’t see him, they had no way to guard against him and had to go through bad luck. However, those real experts in God and Demon Kingdom have already cultivated themselves to super high levels. Not only is God of Bad Luck unable to employ Bad Luck Art on them, they could even lock God of Bad Luck with their own skills. If God of Bad Luck wants to have the advantage when fighting the people there, he has to be in higher cultivation level than them. Otherwise, he will still be of no use.” God of Books explained that.

“I see. Don’t worry. I’ll give each of you a Fruit of the World every year. Then your cultivation will advance quickly.” After Feng Xi pondered for a while, he suddenly remembered that there were lots of Fruits of the World which were great for cultivating in his ring. However, Feng Xi could only give one fruit to each of his buddies every year. That was the upper limit!

Feng Xi’s words made God of Books and God of Bad Luck drool ceaselessly. They were willing to have one Fruit of the World every one thousand years, not to mention every year!

“Damn it, master!” God of Bad Luck suddenly shouted.

His voice sounded soft like a marshmallow, which was quite pleasing to the ears. Nonetheless, Feng Xi and God of Books were still startled by him. They both thought someone chased them here and got nervous right away.

“What happened?”

“Master, you forgot to register!”
