The winding and slippery underground passage led Xing Ze to a spacious cave. In the center of the cave was a stone table with various ritual tools placed on it.

It seems that this should be the temple, where the villagers hold sacrificial ceremonies and pay homage to the gods. The dim glow of glowing moss and lichen makes the entire site look cold and eerie.

A strange smell lingered in Xing Ze's nose, like fishy smell or raw eggs. The greasy and humid air seemed to have substance, wrapping him tightly, making Xing Ze feel as if he was wrapped by countless snakes.

The lack of air underground creates some hallucinations. Xing Ze stopped, and he began to understand why this place was built like this. Whether it was the sculptures, the luminous lichens seen everywhere, or the twisted and complicated roads, they all invisibly affected people's minds.

The outline appeared, and the first thing he saw was the body of the thing, and then the sharp claws grabbing at him. A mouthful of moist air was sucked into his nose, and Xing Ze moved. The sharp blade turned into his left hand quickly raised upwards, and the sharp claw was completely cut off.

At the same time, he stretched his right hand forward, and the magic stored in Blue Beak's body was immediately activated. The scorching flame roared out from the palm and instantly enveloped the invisible monster.

After exhaling a breath of turbid air, Xing Ze stepped forward and stabbed the sharp blade into the monster's chest before its other claw struck.

With an unpleasant roar, the pony-like monster crashed to the ground. The flames continued to burn, and a burning smell soon filled the temple.

Xing Ze retracted his sharp blade and wiped away the flames on his arm. He did not stay any longer, but quickly walked towards the passage where the monster appeared before.

There are guards patrolling here, which means there must be something on the other side. Xing Ze hopes that the end of the passage is where investigators are detained, but there is a possibility that he will encounter more monsters. But no matter what, he needs to take a gamble.

Goddess of luck seemed to be on his side today. After walking out of the passage, Xing Ze saw the investigators locked in the cage and the yellow translucent cocoons hanging from the top of the cave. They sway gently in the spray of water from the hole in the cave ceiling, and the snake-men can be seen floating in the frothy green liquid inside the cocoon.

Several of the brown, leathery cocoons had been opened and were empty. Xing Ze's heart sank. He walked quickly to the iron cages and moved his wand to open the iron doors.

The person in the first cage was Mike. When this big driver saw someone coming, he immediately kicked his hands and feet in excitement and cursed endlessly.

"Calm down, Mike, it's me!" Xing Ze growled.

His voice made Mike stop struggling, and the latter stared in shock, "Is it you? Damn it, are you in the same group with these monsters?"

"Who are you talking to, Mike?" Lanny's voice came from a cage nearby.

"Of course not." Xing Ze gestured, "Come out now. We have to escape from this miserable place before they seal the entrance."

"Hey, Mike, are you still there?" Lanny called again.

"What's wrong with Mike?" Serena's voice also sounded, followed by Kent and Kelly.

"Go and tell them to shut up, they will attract the guards." Xing Ze ordered Mike who climbed out of the cage, and then used his wand to open another cage.

Lanny climbed out of the cage hesitantly. The dim light prevented him from seeing Xing Ze clearly for a while. He asked doubtfully: "Is it you, Mike?"

"Is this what you want to say to your savior?" Xing Ze sarcastically ignored the confused detective and continued to open the remaining cages.

This place is obviously an incubation chamber, and in those translucent cocoons are the snake-men's babies. West's inference is correct. Normally hatched snake-men are not placed in human bodies. At least in the early stages of their larvae, these creatures need to be properly protected like this.
