The Factory's Secret

Chapter 38 - The Meaning of the Line

In the factory, Caro was still reflecting on the mark in the network. What she wanted was to find if it had anything to do with X.A.R.A. Meanwile, Luna could inspect the pictures she took in the submarine by launching an analysis program on the computer.

"It turns out that there were big gas pouches all around the line as well. The computer says it's abnormal. Should we worry about it?" Luna asked.

"Not for now, we'll check it out later. For now, I think the starting point to our investigation is to find out what the line itself means." Caro stayed concentrated on her main objective.

Luna wanted to know the meaning of their presence near the line. She started researching as vigorously as Caro on her side.

Madd had nothing to do that night. Jo and Mike were hanging out for some boys time. She went in town and took a walk in the peaceful environment around her. She walked in front of a building she felt familiar too. It was dark. Abandoned. But then she realized it was the second supercomputer's building she was walking by. She wasn't convinced to go inside yet, but it had been a while since Caro had checked the cameras. She hesitated for a minute before taking the decision to go. Although she was a little scared of what she could find, she thought about her teleportation power. It was an easy solution. She opened the old door after a long walk through the wide path of the building. As she remembered, she could easily activate the hidden passage to the laboratory. As she activated it, she could hear footsteps in the bas.e.m.e.nt. She imagined herself in the scanner room and teleported to hide from the mysterious person.

"Hey! That's interesting!" Caro screamed to her partner.

"What?" Luna interrogated herself and looked at the big screen.

"This is telling me such bad news. But it's important. It says that every virus or maleficent and vicious programs generating phenomenal quantities of energy makes the line grow. And you know that you measure up to three nanometers on Aria if we compare to real world. Well it's the same for the numeric seas and networks. It's the same measures for you. But the computer sets the circ.u.mference of the network's sea up to 1830 kilometers. And in twenty years, the line grew from 0 to 46.3 kilometers. And once the line as made the whole circ.u.mference of the spherical sea, the world will be overtaken by viruses and every single computers will crash. Meaning that the planes won't work correctly, the nuclear facilities would be overtook, as well just as many dangerous establishments all around the world. And I have a ranking of the names of the program giving the most energy to the line. X.A.R.A. comes fourth." Caro discoursed with an attentive Luna.

"Which means other programs are more dangerous than him. What are they?" Luna questioned.

"All entities like X.A.R.A. Artificially created for unknown purposes." Caro explained.

"Who's the first one?" Luna asked.

"No name, just a code. BUP-53TY." Caro immediately answered.

Madd advanced slowly through the scanner room. When she got to the main room, she couldn't see anybody. She turned around to make sure nobody could attack her and inspected the supercomputer in the room. She knew that with what Caro taught her, she couldn't go really far. But a code was popping red on the screen as she sat. She clicked it and scrolled down on the info list. She found a pen and write it on her hand, her phone ready to hide her face in case someone would see her. She took a picture of the informations for Caro and stood up, leaving the screen like it was when she arrived. She kept her phone close to her face, carefully before seeing popping out of a door.

"Stop right there!" he screamed.

Madd took a picture of the man and teleported out of the building before jogging casually
