The Gamer's System

Chapter 1: The God of Gaming

There is a land that exists apart from our world. A place that is created by various gods and goddesses who crafted it as they wished. At first, there where the three, stronger than any other in the group.

Nisha is the goddess of darkness, the one which existed before anything else. That vast emptiness of the void is hers to command, without anything else to be seen. Then, came the birth of another goddess.

Sinclair is the goddess of light. With her coming is the division of light from darkness. The lights of the heavens were made and, soon after, the two goddesses battled for domination of night and day, creating another god.

Chrono is born from the shifting of night and day. With the passing of time, thigs have began being formed and hence, came the various worlds. One of them is earth, a normal world where science have advanced along with the growth of man who came to be the top predators in the food chain.

Then there are worlds made of magic. Here, various creatures have been formed, those of which have only existed in the imagination of men. There are creatures who look human, yet they have wings sprouting from their backs. There are monsters that seem to be a hybrid of various species of animals. There are plants that could eat people alive while, there are places that are filled with various mysteries.

The gods and goddesses enjoyed crafting worlds such as this, with earth being one of their first creations. However, this does not mean that they viewed earth and the human race less favorably. In fact, they have always seen the human race as full of potential. Picking up heroes from this world to combat the various evils of the other worlds.

[Game Start]

Zeke Elwood sat at his gaming chair, finishing the introduction of the latest video game that he was given a copy of to test.

"Mythos: Tales of Creation and Destruction" He read the title of the game again before finally deciding to press the enter key.

Why is he given a game that only he can play as of the moment? Well that is because he is the most gifted professional gamer there is. On earth, there is no other person who can clear a game as fast and, as good as Zeke does.

He has beaten records including, not being hit by a single blow in sword reliant games. He cleared a shooting game using only a pistol. He destroyed a "pay to win" game proving that, even without spending a single dime you could be the top ranker games such as this.

He also dominated shooting games like PUB_ using only a frying pan. Yup, just the frying pan. He destroyed challenger players in League of Legen_s using unorthodox methods. All around the world, he is recognized as the best in any and all forms of gaming.

This, however, did not come without a price. He actually quit school when he was still in junior highs. He got bored of how the life in school seems to be on repeat, without anything eventful ever happening.

This is when he began playing games – entering different worlds each and every day. There was never a day that he got bored because, every game he played housed a different challenge and, whatever those challenges are, he made sure to not only overcome them but to dominate completely.

Of course, he needed to make a living out of this. That's why he started streaming his games online. He even made pro guides and pro tip videos that got monetized over time. He even has his own website that features all the walkthrough to every game. Through this, he was able to pay back his parents for all that they spent supporting their son.

"I'm a productive shut-in." He would always say as their house grew as large as a mansion, with his parents being completely satisfied.

As his fame rose, so did all the companies that wanted him to play their games. They wanted to be the first one to make the god of gaming surrender but, he would always prove them wrong. He'd dominate their games and give the developers ideas on where improvements should be made.

Hence, we come back to the scene at hand. With the god of gaming siting on a chair, controller on hand, as he played another game.

[The player needs to die before proceeding.]

The message on the screen said, making Zeke wonder what gave the developers the idea to put this message at the beginning of the game.

"I've seen a lot of games like this but, somehow this feels different." He said as he continued to the option.

[Do you wish to die?]

"Not really, but if the game requires it then why not." He replied, clicking on the [ok] button.

[Understood. The ritual circle will now begin being formed.] On the screen, a symbol is beginning to take shape until, a huge circle which seem to be used for summoning appeared.

"Ohh so we get to start with something similar to isekai." Zeke said, getting a bit interested in the development of the game thus far.

[Zeke Elwood will now be killed.]

A blinding flash of light consumed Zeke, making him forcibly close his eyes. The light is so strong that even as his eyes are shut, he could see the reddish veins of his eyelids. Something worried him as all of this happened. He did not even mention his name and yet, the game already registered it, as if he is the only one who will ever play this game.

"Crazy game developers." He said, thinking of how much effort was made in blinding his eyes.

The light soon dwindled until, there is only darkness. His chair is gone and so is his controller. In front of him is a game like screen displaying an option for him to take.

[Welcome to the trial stage of Mythos.]

[Pick a starting weapon.]

"Woah, they made it possible for me to transfer into a VR like environment? Not too shabby." He commented, thinking how all that is happening is still a game.

[Sword and Shield]

[Bow and Arrows]

[Staff]

On display are various weapons, every kind that a game has offered. There is even a gun, a bazooka, a machine gun, and various others. There is also an option of customizing the weapon to be used.

"Let's take a look of my status points first." He said, looking at the other option bars that the game window has on display.

He clicked his avatar and, all the details about his character came out.

[Name: Zeke Elwood]

[Species: Human]

{Specification: None]

[Level: 1/100]

The level displayed both his current level and the maximum level which can be reached within the game.

[Health: 500]

[Mana: 400]

[Strength: 10]

[Speed: 9]

[Intelligence: 15]

[Endurance: 8]

[Luck: 10]

Under his attribute points is another game window, indicating that he can allot 10 more points into the various attributes he currently has.

"What about the skills?" He continued, looking at the skill choices which he needs to buy using the 2 skill points that is displayed on his screen.

He placed everything into consideration after browsing the skills available. There are skills that costs only a single point while there are others that costs 2 or more skill points. Meanwhile, the specifications on the weapon includes every known material that exists on earth.

"Let's do something fun then." He said, smiling as he began having fun with the game.

The first is a shield made of graphene, a material that is known to be 10x sturdier than steel. He chose this material because, graphene is also lightweight, making maneuverability easier. However, he did not choose a sword as his assault weapon. Instead, he chose two shields, occupying his left hand and his right hand weapon.

Then, he placed 8 points on endurance while he placed the 2 remaining points on speed. Then, he bought the [Poison Cloud] skill which only costs a single skill point, using the other skill point to buy [Lesser Poison Resistance.]

With all the preparations being completed, Zeke felt a surge of excitement overflow inside his body. After all, it's not everyday that a game offers him such a diverse array of choices.

[Character customization has been completed.]

[Proceed to the first level of the trial stage?] Zeke clicked the [yes] button, which began changing the area around him. The darkness dissolved slowly, showing a clear blue sky and three sun looking things that float up above it. There are trees that Zeke does not know of and, in front of him is a pack of goblins, eating the dead body of a hare looking animal.

As the goblins saw him, they immediately changed targets, beginning their assault of Zeke just as soon as he got transported.

"I hope you keep this hype going." He said out loud, getting excited of how the game felt so real.
