The Goblin's Leveling System!

Chapter 32: Bandits Love To Court Death

My teammates and I followed the human king and his royal guards while riding a carriage.

Our destination is the holy church and apparently, we still need to perform the ritual performed by the pope to communicate with a God.

Therefore, we were heading to the holy church which is 100 kilometers away from Eldion.

I could have run instead of riding this slow-moving carriage and it would have taken me an hour to run by foot but since I can't bring them with me when I run, I agreed that we would ride a carriage.

Here we are now, riding a horse carriage for an hour but we only covered a distance of 30 kilometers from Eldion to the Holy Church.

We haven't encountered any problems during our travel or so I thought when someone or something stopped our tracks as we had come to a halt.

I opened the curtains of the carriage's window and I found what's the source of our stop.

It was a stereotypical scene to behold.

A group of bandits block someone's path, steal a person's money, and kills whoever opposes them; just like in a fantasy anime scene.

Are they dumb or something? Didn't they notice the royal guards riding on a horse that is behind and in front of the carriage that we were in?

I thought that just was the case but after I used the system's appraisal skill to look at the status of the bandits; surprisingly, most of them reached level 800 and they were not your average low-level bandits.

Maybe they knew that the king was in the carriage so they attacked us? Or was it just a coincidence?

The royal guards are around level 400 and there are 50 of them who went with the king.

Even I found the security of the king lacking.

But I know that wasn't the case, so maybe the king brought a measly number of guards to protect him and left the rest to protect the kingdom because we were with him?

The king's reason must be to have as many guards protect the kingdom while he was away and he knew that bringing more guards with him won't change anything since he was accompanied by us, the heroes.

It was also possible that the king must be on a tight budget because we ripped him of 10 years worth of tax income from his kingdom when I demanded a reward for meeting up with the demon hero which was delayed because of some matters that occurred.

"Hand us all of your expensive belongings if not we won't be lenient to all who don't follow our demands.", Bandit 1 spoke while moving his hand forward and did a hand sign which meant that we will give it to him.

The bandits gathered and unheated their weapons such as daggers, swords, spears, etc.

The bandits consist of 4 levels 800, 8 levels 700, and 10 levels 600.

I wonder if they were former adventurers since it will explain why they have that power since few humans have reached that level considering not many humans fought with monsters to level up.

The bandits remained in their position, waiting for us to comply with their demands.

The royal guards started to confront the bandits while holding their swords and pointing them towards the bandits.

After the bandits witnessed that we opposed them, they launched themselves towards the guards while pointing their swords toward them.

A battle broke out but it only lasted for a moment as the bandits had the upper hand and they defeated the royal guards despite their strength in numbers.

Out of the 50 royal guards, 34 were injured while 11 died and the remaining was out of stamina and even if they fight until they die, they still wouldn't be able to defeat the bandits.

I was feeling irritated and annoyed by the fact that our travel was stopped by mere low-level bandits so I decided to intervene in their battle and put an end to this.

I don't want our trip to the Holy Church to be delayed as much as it was now so I went outside the carriage and walked towards the guards

I cast [Heal] on the guards and a bright green light shone upon them which healed their injuries.

I went towards the bandits and they were having mixed feelings about my interference.

"Don't come to any closer kid or I will kill you just like what I did to those puny guards."

A burly man wearing iron-plated armor pointed a cutlass towards me.

I didn't mind what the bandit said so I continued moving towards him.

The burly man slashed his cutlass towards my head so I stopped the attack by intercepting the sword with my finger.

After all, my 100 million defense stats were not for show.

The burly man and the rest of the bandits were astonished as they saw me blocking the sharp cutlass with only my finger not to mention that I haven't cast any defense skills yet.

The burly man was furious because his attack was only blocked by a finger; to him, this was an embarrassment.

He kept on slashing and thrusting his cutlass towards me but this time, I didn't block the attack, let alone move an inch.

I just stood there, faced the series of attacks head-on without even wearing armor.

I wouldn't want to miss the chance to display my strength and test to what extent my stats can do.

The burly man kept on attacking me for several minutes before he ran out of energy.

I got bored from only receiving his attacks so I punched him using a tenth of my power.

It resulted in completely obliterating the upper part of his body which left the lower part of his body standing until it flopped on the ground.

Some of the bandits fell on the ground and peed on their pants.

They lost their morale after I did such a thing nevertheless they still charged at me while pointing their weapons towards me.

'Do they love courting death that much even though they witnessed my power?'

*A lot of beings in this world love to court death even if they knew that they don't stand a chance against them. The humans are for one, the being who loves to court death the most. Even animals retreat when they found someone who they can't win against.*

'You are back, system. So can you answer my question?'

*As long as the system can answer the host's question, the system will answer.*

'So are you a God or a blessing granted by a God?'

*God- a being that is worshipped for having the ability to control a particular aspect or part of reality.*

'I didn't ask for the definition of God! Were you created by a God or a God himself?'

*...*

'Is it because the system's level is not enough to have access to that kind of information?'

*The host is right.*

'I won't ask any further so I will instead ask if there are any skills in the system shop that can repair clothes.'

*There is one but not can it only repair clothes, it can also repair the durability of any material.*

'How much system coins do I need to pay for it?'

*The host will need to pay a thousand system coins to purchase the [Repair] skill.*

'I will purchase that skill and if my system coins are insufficient, then convert my available stat points into system coins to pay for the skill.'

*Ding!*

*The host has obtained a new skill! The [Repair] skill has been obtained.*

'Display the skill information of [Repair].'

*Displaying skill information... Skill information will be displayed.*

'The skill is simple but useful.'

"Huff... Huff... Did that kid took any damage?"

"He took damage!"

"Really?"

"Yes! His clothes got damaged!"

I snapped back from reality and I found out that I was in a daze when I communicated with the system.

From the other's point of view, I was standing and taking hits from the bandits' continued attacks.

The said bandits were now panting and catching their breath as they were exhausted from the attacks that they have launched against me yet I didn't even budge.

The bandits were quite persistent to keep on attacking when I was in a daze even though their attacks didn't do any sh*t.

"Let's end this, shall we?"

I cast [Wind Blade] then several blades of wind appeared in front of me and was launched to the bandits which cleanly slices their bodies into pieces.

Blood spews out in the process but luckily I managed to avoid the blood staining my attire.

I already killed someone before so I got used to it.

If they ask that what I'm doing is wrong then what do they expect someone who is from the monster race, a goblin to be precise.

I went back inside the carriage and the royal guards went back into position and we continued our travel.

'Onward, the Holy Church.'
