The Liberal Assassin

Chapter 46 - Countdown

The past week had been boring. I slept for two days straight and hadn't seen anyone. Other than fine tuning some of the gadgets without Khronos' consent, Kevin and the training room was all I had to occupy myself. It didn't take long for me to reduce the room to dust and now I'm all out of entertainment. As much as I was tempted to slip out and cause a ruckus, I feared the consequences of what Ignacio would do when he found out. Dealing with the bipolar fiend was never a good thing.

Taking time to polish and don the Night Walker's suit, I turned around only to see the flashing digits mocking me. Fifteen minutes more to midnight, fifteen more minutes to kill.

Doing some light stretches, I mentally willed the digits to change but nothing of that sort happened even after glaring daggers at it. Time continued to pass leisurely without care. Eventually, the moment came and I leapt out of bed immediately, eager to start the nightly visits.

Janon would be so happy to finally meet me!

As intel provided, Janon should be nicely tucked in bed and counting sheep when I knock on his window for our late night rendezvous.

Checking that the coast is clear, I crawled out of the secret entrance in Khronos' very booby-trapped apartment. We definitely needed a better opening. I can't imagine squeezing through this tiny opening every single time I need to get out. With one last glance at his dead silent apartment, I made a dash for my freedom.

Who needed a charged orb when I had gravity boots to run in?
