The Little Calamity

Rayne refined the lightning, the speed of the lightning hastened his cultivation by a lot. By the time the third lightning hit him he felt like he was already full.

' If it's already like this then that mean I am on the path of cultivation. I should be able to absorb some lightning ki.'

He removed the purifying part, directly cultivating the lightning. Element cultivation was a little different, you could only cultivate it until it had the same amount as your normal ki and it wouldn't progress your cultivation level but just like spirit artifacts they were well worth it.

The fourth bolt hit Rayne, just to be safe he experimented with a small spark that he cultivated with.

' I see, elemental ki is a lot wilder than normal so you have to keep it in check with your own ki, if I can remove it's nature while keeping it's element then it should be easier to use it.'

He made a few adjustment before accepting more of the lightning's snake moving around his body. He easily got rid of the wild part of lightning as he stored it in his dantian.

With such success he took in the purple lightning with no restraint but he quickly realized that it was different.

' This lightning has a spirit?..'

It would be impossible to cultivate it if it had a mind of it's own and he couldn't crush it's mind without destroying it's energy.

' What if I subjugate it?'

He gathered his spirit while weakening the lightning by purifying it then he simply crushed it with the pressure of his mind. The tyrannical purple lightning became as docile as a pet, although Rayne couldn't cultivate it the lightning went into his dantian and did nothing as if it was sleeping peacefully.

The sound of thunder resonated three more time without causing any lightning to appear.

' I see, the purple lightning was controlled by the spirit I just captured so it won't appear. So earlier I captured the spirit of the royal blue lightning but since my dantian wasn't awakened just yet it had to leave. Let's see if it remember it's master.'

Sadly it looked like it wasn't the case, the royal lightning gathered all of it's bolt, three in total, and attacked Rayne with everything it got. Although it was stronger than earlier the same scenario still happened, it was completely suppressed with a single though.

The next bolt of lightning was, weirdly enough, completely pink and it's size was on another scale. Before it even appeared the building around Rayne was already destroyed, Luther along with the head elders had to forcefully evacuate all of the disciple around. Still the heaven seemed to see the problem of the mortals, the clouds delayed it's attack for a full 5 minutes.

' Luther already took Arisa away, I couldn't sense the danger as soon as him. I am still lacking.'

For cultivators five minutes was more than enough to flee a few kilometers, out of range of any normal attack. Only then did the pink thunderbolt attack Rayne. The altar of awakening was surrounded in protection barriers yet it still crumbled on impact, the giant pink disaster was the size of a few houses as it fell on Rayne.

Even he felt a little tense at this sight however he was completely confident in himself. He let it enter his body, indeed this time it wasn't just pressure, the impact was strong enough to cause him a headache and wound his organs. If the goal of the tribulation was to kill him he would have died already, luckily it was still testing the power of his soul and will.

' This is nothing compared to the false Arisa's word.'

He immediately threw his spirit against the lightning spirit, this time he wasn't able to subdue it in an instant. He was forced into a clash with it, although it seemed to still be weaker than him subduing something in the way that he did it required him to completely overpower it.

The lightning was also born as a spirit so it could move in ways that Rayne couldn't even begin to try, most of his attacks ended hitting nothing. He could feel the other lightning descend on him, it was two time the size of the other.

' I can send it out with ease, if I let the other bolt enter my body while this spirit is still here I will suffer quite a bit of injuries, even if I can subdue this weird thing it wouldn't be worth it. Retreat is the best option.'

He pushed the pink spirit back with ease, it was about to leave his body when it managed to slip past his defense, at that moment it would have been able to do some damage yet it stood there obediently, trying to show that it accepted him as it's master.

' Was it testing me or teasing me?'

As if it could read his mind the purple spirit started to tremble a little as if it was laughing. The second bolt that was about to fall on him was also delayed mid-air.

' There is no danger, if it wanted to hurt me it wouldn't have waited there.'

He decided to trust it, he slowly guided it to his dantian, watching it to make sure it wouldn't do anything bad. The purple spirit simply obeyed his every command and went inside peacefully, causing the gathering lightning in the sky to disappear.

He though it was over but the cloud stayed while black and red lightning appeared. It was at such a scale that it seemed to cover the entire little town.

' Arisa's house is going to be destroyed.'

Rather than feeling anxious for himself he felt anxious that her room would be destroyed.

' By cultivating the soul one can move his ki outside of his body to attack at long distance, let's try it.'

He strengthened his legs with ki to boost his jump and as soon as he was about to fall he used his thunder ki to create small explosions that sent him higher. Once he was around a hundred meters in the air the ominous lightning struck him. At first it didn't feel that much stronger from the pink lightning, he was easily able to stop it's first impact at the cost of wounding himself and his own spirit was still stronger than it.

After his little soul battle with the pink lightning he learned a few things so he could suppress the evil-looking spirit with ease until he realized the problem.

' Is it corrupting the inside of my body? Rather than corrupting it's more like corroding.'

The black and red energy seemed to taint everything it touched, it was slow but it seemed unstoppable. This was pretty dangerous, even his own mind was getting injured by it. He felt like a thousand needles were piercing his body, he coughed blood as his mind was under too much pressure.

' This might be dangerous.'

What he was feeling right now was what normal people would feel at the third bolt, he could survive no problem but since the lightning already hurt him he felt like he would admit defeat by letting it run away.

' If I let this spirit escape I won't be able to hunt it later.'

His eyes turned serious, if touching that thing harmed him then the sooner he conquered it the easier it would be. He was like a predator as he jumped on the lightning, using all the power that he could in a single strike. Whether it was because he was in danger or that he finally became serious his own mind became much stronger, leaving no opening for the black and red spirit to run away.

It could only tremble in fear in front of Rayne, accepting him as it's new owner.
